I just wanted to say that as I'm a volunteer journalist for JeuxOnline, I couldn't borrow any proper camera material (my personal stuff is just outdated, as you well saw LOL). At the same time, I didn't want to miss this opportunity to make a video interview. Thank you for addressing the fact they’re calling it a ARPG and also for addressing the summers games fest BS. You asked questions that clearly made them nervous but it was questions we’ve wanted the answers to back on there last dev update over 3 months ago now.
As I said in another comment : When announced, I think it was not that clear for PC community how much of a performance improvement the optimization would be. They traded some of the season 4 and 5 contents to work on it and now i think they could not take a better decision
I've left and come back 3 different times to New World with over 2k hours played. I'm not sure everything that I didn't enjoy will be fixed, but I really enjoy the leveling experience and I'm going to start fresh again. I figured they were working towards a console launch like this, so I was never upset in the same way that many other veteran players were angry. I got frustrated by certain endgame mechanics, and I still think the systems might need some tweaking, but I'm willing to give it another shot, and I'll stick around so long as it's fun.
It feels like they are putting the game on the good way with this update. Obviously it will still be hard to make amends to everyone, but if they play their cards well with the new dynamics brought by console players, it could be a renewal for the game at medium-long term

I was interested in doing this exercise of video interviewing but do not have any proper material to do so. I just did the best I could, I'm not too disappointed with the result
I think AGS should give incentive to do all content not just raid and Cutlass keys. Big mistake if they're gonna keep it this way. The game has a shit ton of already existsing potential end game content loops: Exploration, crafting, questing, invasions, portals, chest runs, mutations, trials, solo trials, raids, 3v3, influence races, racing, OPR, duels, Wars... You literally have all these systems, just put an end game incentive to them all and make the time spent relevant towards gear-progression.
I know its easy to focus on the negative but this PvP zone is a feature that the players have asked for for Years. And they are giving us exactly what we have been asking for (took a while but still) and that is Huge. This 100% shows that they Do listen but it just takes a lot of time it seems.
But they can't learn from their mistakes or other games, because they don't play games. Once you enter you shouldn't be able to see any name, company name, or info about players..... Companies will dominate the zone with groups. Guaranteed. AGS was warned millions of times because there are examples of this issue and the solutions. But again, they have no idea about games.

@@tc-one3749 After speaking with devs, i can tell u they are reading pretty much everything (Scot even told me he was following our Jeuxonline.net french stuff through a translator lol, just to picture you how exhaustive they can be). They also seemed to have an extensive knowledge about the MMORPG genre. I think they are well aware that collusion will be a thing in this game mode. I expect them to have ideas in their chest and keeping them secrets until they see how do players seize the zone. I had no insight on this btw, its just what i think.

Why would you actively allow players to team knowing the sentiment around the area with teaming and even internally knowing this may happen but wait until people get pissed and leave than attempt to fix it this is truly the AGS way. BTW I already know groups that are prepping for this zone to team the living hell out of it for what it's worth and these are good players btw with thousands of hours in pvp so they aren't scrubs who will just get wooped by your average pvper.
@nephistos ask them why they wouldn’t make named gear upgradeable to 725, that means the current mutated dungeons will actually be pointless to do if you’re looking to get max gs items.
As a hardcore PC player, I do have a question: Like most veteran players, I have 3 fully leveled toons…. Will we be getting an extra character slot so we can take part in the new experience? Most of us invested a lot of time/money in developing each character, I feel like we deserve at least that much. Please and thank you!!! PS Please get rid of lock on targeting in PvP modes; please and thank you again!
yep, console players will be able to join either legacy pc servers or exclusive console fresh start servers (it will also have fresh start for mixed pc/console)
Look this is great and yes they did a lot of work! Veterans will have to understand that this update is definitely geared to new players or returning players that stopped playing the game shortly after launch. I think now that they have done this they can focus on end game content for veterans just at the moment this was the bigger focus. To be honest though more players = more reason to allocate resources to make more content so all and all this will be very good. Just sorry about veterans that feel like they have been left out.
I think until the recent Open Beta it was also not that clear how much of a performance improvement the new client will be. During an informal talk they mention solving 30k bugs for Aeternum release, they committed A LOT on this actually. The optimization will benefit to everyone new/returning/veteran players. Also, I don't have any insight on this, but i think there is a good chance that the content cadence increase a lot now.
I'm a veteran and i'm hyped for this. The price value of this game was recovered long time ago. Most games give you 12 hours or 24 hours for 70$ I got 3500hrs for 40$ 😂

Despite this, it's still an MMO and a live service game, so many people will see the game "having an end" as an issue. Hopefully with this relaunch, they'll be able to focus on delivering content a lot more. I would say (my estimation) that they start working on Aeternum after ROTAE expansion released. If you look at what happened before ROTAE, i mean post Brimstone Sands, we had gear sets, Transmogrification, Raid groups, Cross-server OPR, Influence race, Mounts + contents themselves... which I think is substantial.
Just watched the whole interview. GS700 is bridge gear to GS725. The grind for 725 gear is probably looong considering there are only 3 ways to get it.
The fact this gear score increase invalidates crafting now.... unless you can now craft 725 gear score items. That was one of the nice things about their crafting system was you can get the best gear crafting.
You need a reason to do end game content if it can just be crafted you never have to participate in end game. I main ffxiv in that game crafter make money on the gear before max gear as well. Crafters make you the raid ready gear you then buy and slot said gear to do the content to in order to get what is considered best in slot. New world looks to be taking this same approach which is good your crafted gear you sell to other players or use yourself will prep you to do the hardest content. Then you get the best gear from doing the hardest content . This is how it should be otherwise no one would participate in end game.
@@real_ez8412 the incentive could be exclusive perks for the new content's gears. ESO is doing this with his dungeons : new gears are same power but different effects and it works pretty well. It's really about horizontal VS vertical progression here. As of what David said, they want to focus the attention on the new content, which is a valid reason.
Calling it an arpg cause of the object hitbox based combat is such an excuse to pull in people who don't like mmos lol it's funny but I like that they are planning on more content after the new build comes out. A lot of veterans think that way, especially with Orange County studio developing the LOTR game. Tbh I don't think so, i'd say they spent nearly a year to come to this new client. I don't think it would be worth it for a one-shot.
I had to try it ! I think Amazon Games is making a mistake releasing 2 MMOs in the same month. Nevertheless, Scot answer was probably the best it could be. Considering the hostility manifested by the community, I assume they put a priority on stopping it by releasing NWA asap, no matter what. Knowing that, I suppose it would have made sense that Amazon Games to announce a release date for Throne and Liberty a few months earlier (before the summer) or later (early 2025). I doubt it would have hurt the game in any case. Just my opinion.
@@dsmluck TnL already has 10x more content and they just dropped their roadmap. NCSoft managed to add more content in a single year (not even) than AGS managed in almost 3 years. As devs said, New World is no longer an MMO - that's their excuse for not having end-game, it's now ARPG. You guys inhaled way too much copium, it's just a rebranded New World. Same dev team, same problems.

I have played the game since launch one idea I wish I could communicate to the devs; Make end game gear easier to obtain/more balanced. Guild Wars 2 did this where end game pvp is always balanced. So casuals can come in and play when they have free time and not just get destroyed by the people playing non stop. And instead focus heavily on cosmetics like the legendary items, armor, and mounts. Make them a journey to obtain. It feels like the constant balancing and introducing new end game gear/expertise is not rewarding, and is bottlenecking new content. I quite for a while after my 600 gear score became irrelevant with expertise but i would have played non stop if I had chase cosmetics.
Since you mentioned casual players being gated from PvP then I add up to this poin. Devs should bring back PvP scalling and make it so FFA PvP zone is available from level 1 up till 65 and stay competitive at any level.
@@Nephistos318 power progression seem to be something the hard cores like. But power progression isn't favorable for PVP. Skill based PVP is generally more popular. Actually the only competitive video games that have competitions and viewers are entirely skill based PVP games(league of legends, fortnight, and guild wars 2 did at first) Most casual pvp players aren't going to be interested in spending moths crafting and collecting just so they can pvp, it actually take out the competitive nature of PVP. Power progression for pve is fine. Pvp it's historically unfavorable for keeping concurrent players.
The content coming for veteran players is insufficient, this content will only be enough to satisfy new players, AGS needs to produce faster and more effective content, a new Profession has not come to the game for a very long time, for example for PvE players, or the OPR map that PvP players want, or abilities for mounts, diving ability, New Weapon abilities, they need to focus on content that players will like.
Their goal with this update was mostly the technical rework, which I think they have done well (everyone will have the opportunity to check that themselves soon). I estimate that they start working on this after the release of the ROTAE expansion (season 3). For my article, I verified what released between Season 1 and 3, and I think it was substantial : - Gear sets, Transmogrification, Raid Groups, Inter-server OPR, Influence Race, Mounts... + Brimstone right before + some contents + expac itself David said that this new version allows them to focus on content again. I think we can expect something similary or laybe even more.

My options were: my own phone (2016 💀) or a GOPRO (which i made with). it sucks, but this is what it is also, it was so ridiculous when we placed the tiny gopro on a big camera tripod 🤣 I did video interview because i was interested in the exercise, but as press, they were expecting us to do articles (which i did too), the English video was just a little bonus
PC player here I'm ok with not having content each 3 months like most toxic players want😂 Because at the end,its subscription free and i got over 3k hours for a 40$ game God of War,Horizon Zero and Starfield can only give you less than 60 hours for 70$ Ah,no replay value too😅
@Oryyyt what does new world have to do with souls games? The reason people stick around with no new content Is that the pvp is fun because it's action combat. Putting an aimbot into the game ruins that.
@@MrNutzorg The combat is inspired by souls as stated by the devs. Tight object based hitboxes, dodging, blocking, weighty movements all while HARDLOCKED to your opponent. I'm not saying it's implemented well because there are no instacasting, literal bulletspeed, long range projectiles in souls. They're balanced and tuned enough so you can strafe or react dodge all of it with skill even under hardlock unlike NW. You also can't spam attacks in souls cause there's stamina management also unlike NW. I'm just saying where NW got their idea from and it's not from Tab-target combat. The combat is "dark souls at home with more bullshit" basically and NW is better off sticking with just being reticle based otherwise you can say byebye to skill expression.

chest runs is actually terrible end game gameloop. Shoul stay away from this design concept

In PvP zone, do you drop only doubloons on death or gathered resources within the zone too?
both, otherwise the is no point in being a super high node
You will drop half your doubloons after the 100 first ones and all your resources

It's hardlock. A standard mechanic in dark souls which also has pvp and now action rpgs.
@Oryyyt what does new world have to do with souls games? The reason people stick around with no new content Is that the pvp is fun because it's action combat. Putting an aimbot into the game ruins that.
@@MrNutzorg The combat is inspired by souls as stated by the devs. Tight object based hitboxes, dodging, blocking, weighty movements all while HARDLOCKED to your opponent. I'm not saying it's implemented well because there are no instacasting, literal bulletspeed, long range projectiles in souls. They're balanced and tuned enough so you can strafe or react dodge all of it with skill even under hardlock unlike NW. You also can't spam attacks in souls cause there's stamina management also unlike NW. I'm just saying where NW got their idea from and it's not from Tab-target combat. The combat is "dark souls at home with more bullshit" basically and NW is better off sticking with just being reticle based otherwise you can say byebye to skill expression.
