  • Dear friends
    In my last episode I was trying to take a swipe at the authorities for leaving us so far behind from our neighbors after 40 years. Unfortunately some of my audience felt that I was praising the authorities instead, some even got so disappointed they even decided to stop watching my videos. What a shame, guess I need to be a little more specific in order not to be misconstrued. Nevertheless it’s only my point of view, you don’t have to agree with me. From time to time I’d still inject some current affairs into my intro like this episode for instance. If you find it inappropriate please fast forward to the food feature, no hard feelings. Please go

    Thanks Elmo , u did a good research. Being an oldie I remembered the original SKC premises where the present Kota Raya stands. The wooden windows with a sliding wooden door lead to a dark interior. Light was so dim and no fans for air circulation
    Food was good but interior was all gloomy. They sold Yeong Taufoo too. Do you have memories of the original SKC shops.

    Thank you very much... You have done a great job in introducing us all these nice food. Very helpful even for KL people like us. Many of these we are yet to try for ourselves... 。。

    Hi Elmo, thanks for sharing..I was wondering what is Sam Kan Chong. Now that you have mentioned, I know now and have not have it for a long time now, one of my favorite...and there is one mentioned in your video, very near my place..Hahaha
    Btw, no need to bother too much about the chopstick issue, who cares...When eating durians, everyone use hands, sometimes, both hands too...Cheong Sek Sai Kai...Finger licking good...Hahaha. Cheers.

      May I ask an interesting question?
      Without the more than one hundred years’ British colonial rule in Malaysia, would your country have been made an unified Malaysia after independence from Britain.

    • @CalvinK300
      @CalvinK300 2 роки тому +2

      @@ericluk68 are you implying that colonial British rule should be credited for unifying all the different communities in their effort to kick out the British? Without which Malayan lands would still be ‘uncivilised’? If so, you should also credit Nazi Germany and Imperial Japanese for many things.

    • @ericluk68
      @ericluk68 2 роки тому

      @@CalvinK300 I am not implying that British colonial rule should be credited at all. What I like to point out is how emotional and ignorant people become when they are instigated by narrow nationalism. In that, People can’t reason things in a sensible or even sound mind. Anyway you don’t even know how to answer my question above.
      Colonialism is a ill system in terms of political humanities, so is narrow nationalism. I will like to ask another question. Does the ethnic Chinese enjoy as equal in rights with their Malay compatriots in an independent Malaysia as those were the days in the British colony of Malaya?

    • @CalvinK300
      @CalvinK300 2 роки тому +2

      @@ericluk68 it is not I don’t know how to answer your question. I asked you for clarification because the way you posed the first question was like implying British colonialism was beneficial. Your next question seems to be stirring racial sentiment. This is a food channel mind you. We have enjoyed racial harmony but it is a delicate balance so think carefully before you comment.

    Wan chee kee son andgrand son moved to sect17 the very popular one nearthe old Sentosa cinema but have rented their shop lot out andstop asthe son inlaw was a seniorMCA and the char siew in jln tong shin is their relative.
    You are right the 2bro whi operated for years

    The eldest son of san kan cheong used to operate behind Sakura restn but has pass away.The youngest broand grand son still operate in petaling st hawker centre sadly he didnt pick up the knowlege ....

    Elmo, if you have asserted your argument that Ethnic Chinese culture and customs as part of Malaysian tradition, not merely matter of utilitarianism, I agree with you, but you posts the Communist China’s flag in the video to represent China’s culture is totally wrong.

      @@malaysiafood328 Malaysian Chinese people’s attitude towards their country’s politics is always amusing to me. They like barking up the wrong tree, the British scapegoat that leaving 60 years ago, being ten thousand miles away, while they are emotionally attached to the wrong motherland, the communist China and never dare to query the unjust hierarchy right in front of them.
      Anyway I still buy your outspokenness about your former prime minister.
