      @@multicreativeartist6579 Well, he has been getting into Judas - slowly. People don't become betrayers overnight, it is a process of one bad decision after another until it comes to a bad, rotten end. Judas was fine in Season 3, but in this Season he is turning back to his old way of life and thinking. That was the point of his conversation with Simon Z doing the laundry: Simon Z is dedicated to leaving the old ways behind and following Jesus though he doesn't understand, but Judas is not. Note that in this season so far, every single disciple minus 2 has rebuked or corrected Judas in some way (counting Thomas's attack.) Judas has been given chance after chance to conclude he is mistaken that Jesus is the roman conquering messiah, but he refuses correction. What I wonder is by the end of episode 8, will we find that the last 2 disciples (Simon Peter and Thaddeus) give a rebuke or redirection too and Jesus will give a 3rd correction, all of which Judas will also reject? As it says in Proverbs 15:10:
      "Stern discipline awaits anyone who leaves the path; the one who hates correction will die."

      The chosen is good at foreshadowing in many situations but I think they did an especially good job with it when it comes to Judas. Right from the first episode he was in they were referencing his fate. I’m not really sure why people think his turn was sudden because there were literally signs that he was struggling all season and even before there were things he did that didn’t seem shady at first but then in hindsight it did.

      I agree with you, Brandon. It does appear that the writers took this scripture out of context. It also appears that something fictional is getting as much or more attention than raising Lazarus from the grave. I understand that the grief would be unbearable, but it's not scriptural in this case. But I still love the Chosen. And maybe I'll change my mind when i see future episodes.

      I don't think he is suicidal, but that he's ready to see Ramah again. He's not actively seeking his death, but he's not afraid of it at this time. (Now, when he faces a mob of religious leaders, Romans, and citizens calling for Jesus' death, he may think differently.)

    30:20 As a grieving mother,.. i understand pain. When my daughter died, I begged God, begged Him to take me instead. He told me, literally,.. she was ready,.. I was NOT. Once I understood.. He was right. Which is why I have poured myself into scripture. Sometimes,.through death, we begin to understand. Period. Now,.. I am ready for my time,.. whenever that may be. Ill never not understand that God has a perfect plan beyond my understanding. 😢 even though it hurts so much.. we need to have faith in Him ❤

      Beautifully shared. I can know because I have a somewhat similar tale. I would have given anything to take the place of the loved ones. They were ready, I needed to become both the witness of and the evidence of God’s love so that others may see. And that does not always work out well either because I am a work in progress. Immersion in the word helps. I think even my wife is struggling with me over it. I don’t know how not to be intense about it all.

    I can totally relate to Thomas’s anguish when I was younger. I prayed so long (and actually looked) for a new job and for the right man to marry, and God’s answer has always been “no.” But I have discovered over the years that God does what is best because He foresees what’s to come, and that He will always provide. But I must admit, I still wrestle with Him about it from time to time!

    Anyone else see us, 21st century Christians, in the apostles? We (not all, everything at the same time, but we) misunderstand His plans, make assumptions based on our own understanding, get frustrated when our plans aren't what God is doing, cry out "why me!?" when we face tragedy, turn against each other when the pressure is on, and even still (amazingly, still), think that God's plan is centered around the preservation of our own people or nation.

      Food for thought Christians. If Jesus banked on Judas on his betrayal then no matter what Judas did mattered even if he decided to try and to serve Jesus, Judas was predestined from the beginning, my question to you Christians is there free will? This is applied to making to heaven, so again is the juice worth the squeeze or is it worth it to follow Christ?. No matter what you do is a certain result or the the same result, is Christ with the price or are better off doing your own life seems pretty pointless to me take care of those choices weather you follow him or not every choice has cost and some of those choices are less costly than others.

      Which is what most of us think about during loss. My best friend recently lost her husband and is totally crushed. For almost 50 years they were truly "two became one". We live far apart now & I worry about her. I constantly send her messages of reminder that God has great things for her here on earth and that her love is safe in Jesus arms right now. She's been hard to console, but I pray her children are hovering around her to help keep her safe through this time of grief. Peter was angry, but he never doubted Jesus. He had so much faith than anyone else in season 3 finale. He knew if Jesus want to He will. That's the maturity. He was angry becoz why didn't Jesus wanted to save his child. They will be a dialog where peter tells john, that he dont believe it, he know it, jesus is the first and last, i don't think Thomas had the same faith. Biblically speaking, Simon walked on water onky with faith, where as Thomas doubted Jesus and his friends when he heard Jesus's apparition.

      @MLMingus you know where it is going, even in season 2, episode 7 Thomas would say "what if we all are mislead" they could have just left him be himself. This whole Ramah's death isn't necessary at all, they have always showed him as doubtful, overthinking person.

      @MLMingus 4 дні тому

      @miss__k I hear you.
      I'm just saying, in this moment, Thomas' reaction is not appreciably different than Simon's experience of grief.
      by writing and acting, we are also reminded about Little James' ongoing struggles. even though he has never acted out in anger, LJ has to constantly turn to God for help in coping with the physical (and emotional) pain of not being healed.
      in these episodes, the writers illustrate the effects of God-allowed-suffering on the lives of believers, and those around them.

    Man, you ride Thomas hard! Although I agree with your interpretation regarding Thomas's statement in scripture, "let's go die with him" referring to dying with Jesus, The Chosen gave me another possible interpretation within the fictional setting. And while Jesus holds the bigger picture of Lazaruz's resurrection, He also compassionately understands Thomas's grief. He understands that a person deep in grief can't possibly see, understand, or even care about a bigger picture. He knows the mind reverts to survival mode which prevents the brain from executive and rational functions. He gets us!

    I love your analogy of the dark and light side of the room and the bungee snap back. Also I think you are right in your analysis of Thomas' comment about dying with Jesus because in Scripture he was not mourning Ramah.

  • @judystrattan8983

    I have felt, throughout the entire Thomas and Ramah story line, that Thomas was following Ramah rather than Jesus. He was more interested in her than he was in Jesus. Now that Ramah is gone, he must turn his eyes upon Jesus and follow Him. In this episode, Thomas is feeling angry, but he doesn't doubt. He knows who Jesus is and what He can do. Just like Simon Peter during his crisis, he felt angry and cried out to Jesus, "Why?" Peter has now learned to trust Jesus, and eventually Thomas will, too. Of course, neither the story of Ramah nor Eden's miscarriage are scriptural, but these are things we deal with in our own lives and we can relate to them.

    many people don't know that there was a common saying among the rabbis 2000 years ago that after 3 days a person could not be brought back to the land of the living. This is why Yeshua waited until the 4th day! He openly showed that He was above their man-made tradition. The people of Israel heard that Yeshua raised someone from the grave on the 4th day and that, to use a metaphor, was like "egg on the face" of the rabbis. Adonai is the only one who could raise the dead and He was doing it through Yeshua. Even when miracles happened right in front of their faces the religious "leaders" would not believe and that still persists to this day in rabbinic judaism (talmudic instead of Torah).

    I prayed and fasted for my dad to be healed and he died. I prayed only once for my father in law and he is healed from even needing major surgery... I don't understand it... I guess that's why the Chosen team decided to put this in the show... to relate to this kind of situation.

      Yeah.... really hard stuff. We can never have the Vision of God. When someone passes, He has a plan for that. When someone is healed He has a plan for that too. This is one of the hardest parts of life. But if it were God's will for us to live on this earth forever we would see some of these immortal people walking around i think. Take comfort in the fact that God wants us to leave this place.

    First, thank you for using the scenes with Thomas to remind us how selfish we can be when comparing ourselves to others more fortunate rather than seeing the big picture of what Christ has done for us. I personally needed that bungee pull back to the light!
    Second, I am sorry to hear about the awful things people are posting on your videos. Especially accusing you of heresy and questioning your faith. I believe it is either Satan seeking to devour you, or people committing the ugly sin of piousness. The scene with Jesus and Thomas after Lazarus is resurrected truly does reflect real life scenarios of being angry with God and not understanding God. Sometimes we are so blinded by grief that we can’t see where God is. In this sense, Thomas can’t see it and even God Himself is right in front of him. In human flesh.
    We also need to remember God, being God doesn’t owe us answers. Even in our grief we aren’t owed anything. And that’s hard truth I’ve come to wrestle with as someone who has suffered great loss of loved ones in my 35 years

    The point was not for Thomas to line up with scripture, but with the writing. They are mostly setting up Thomas doubting Jesus resurrection. I think that’s what they are setting up ultimately. Scripture doesn’t flesh out why Thomas doubted the way that he did and I think that’s the ultimate goal of the way they wrote Thomas

    The camera went to Big James after Judas said that and I wonder if James recalled the moment when they told Jesus to call down fire from heaven and how Jesus reacted to that.

    Perhaps its because of the scriptures I saw this episode as Thomas ready to follow Jesus even to death if needed...I just see his sorrow in this scene, still grieving Ramah and his conversation with John, John helps him come back to hope...Thomas suffered so greatly over her death and having known people of faith who lost loved ones under terrible circumstances they struggle and grieve and can be so in sorrow that they forget they belong to the Lord...

    I mean the fact that they gave Thomas an imaginary girlfriend and had her killed was already kind of a “no” for me, but I believe they are trying to setup the “doubting” Thomas threw the death of Ramah.
    Also I agree with your interpretation of Thomas in scripture I definitely don’t think that it was a “doubting” moment but a zeal without knowledge moment.
