Debbie Harry has always been a stunning goddess. I believe Debbie and Chris remain so close is because they share a deep understanding. Debbie didn’t want children and Chris did. They are soul mates and kindred spirits. A friend met Debbie and said she helped him get over his awe by asking him questions and showing genuine interest in his life. Very cool lady. Thank you.
Debbie Harry was my teenage crush in the late 70s. I had a big poster of her on my wall and even now decades later I still have a soft spot for her. Parallel Lines is a great album 😊👍 Thanks again for another v enjoyable video
I've still got my Debbie poster from my bedroom, but I keep it in the attic where my wife can't find it. I don't want an argument about who is number 1 and who is number 2.
Saw Blondie at the Hammersmith Odeon January 1980. Debbie was stunning as always but I was blown away by the incredible drumming of Clem Burke. Became a drummer on the strength of it.
I saw them in January 1980 as well, at Newcastle city hall, opened with BAM BAM BAM BAM of Dreaming, and yes, Clem led that song on the drums. 41 years later it's still unforgettable.
Blondie is an great example of what every band should be. They have done almost everything right, stayed out of trouble and kept their music that still holds up today.
They were heavily into drugs and let their management walk away with the earnings of their highest-profile years. At some point Debbie was evicted from her house, and even her clothes were confiscated. So much for doing it right.
@@gaynor1721 I've heard both Debra and Debbie. I don't see much difference. Neither of these distinctions changes my point. Debra/Debbie is a really great person. BTW: I view one as a more formal version and one as a less formal version of the same name. If you want to get into the weeds. Both names may have had different linguistic origins, but like many names in english they have basically merged. So Deborah or Debbie is fine unless the individual wants to be called one and not the other.
My favorite thing about Debbie (and there are many things) is her unique songwriting style. Debbie uses abstract concepts and blends them with unique words to create a visual explanation like no other artist. Who else could create a rhyme for microsurgical precision? One of my favorite bands, and artists.
I was about 13 when Blondie came to prominence here in Australia; about the time that Parallel Lines was released. I still love their songs and listen to them to this day - and sing along, as lyrics learned for classic songs in your childhood seem to stick. Always a fan of her and the band. Thanks for a great vid, cheers.
Debbie Harry flawlessly beautiful & talented, what a voice ~ Blondie was the coolest band, ÃLL talented musicians, ñ ģreat songs.. Debbie was 1st woman to do rap.
I love Blondie. They have great melodic songs which is something not really talked about. I'm glad you made the Beatles and Blondie connection because those are two of my favorites. Can you do a retrospective of Heart? There also influenced by the Beatles. One more thing, Debbie Harry is quite beautiful.
To me Deborah Harry then and there was the most beautiful thing that the universe has ever created. I'll go to my grave believing that. The band itself...i just loved their diversity. They played every genre...and well
We were lucky enough last summer, 2021, to be on the beach at the Asbury Park, NJ, musical festival, Sea Hear Now. Blondie was fantastic! The whole band and Debbie played strong. Love this band forever!
Pretty good stuff! They did sell out a bit I guess but Heart Of Glass was a classic. Sometimes I can get into a groove with them. I like the spacy feel of the Eat To The Beat album. Songs like Slow Motion & Union City Blue(s). Might have to play those now!
Blondie was the first group i liked and my parents hated. In the 90ies i went to their concert in the AB in brussels. It was one of the first times she performed Maria. She even had the lyrics written on a4 sheets. Untill now the best concert i went to
I'm usually kind of critical about these music info videos. Great job HollyHobs. Very informative, and not just the same old crap everybody already knows.
The Idiot Tour with David Bowie was in 1977, not 1997 as your video suggests. I remember it well as fellow students at college in Montreal were all abuzz about the opening act for Bowie (aka Blondie).that nobody had ever heard of.
I'm like "yeah, it's a video about Blondie, but the Beatles HAVE to turn up in there somewhere..." You are reliably cool, Mr. Hollyhob. :) PS Blondie is a HERO!! Well-done. :)
Clem Burke rocks..❤ his drum style🥁💯🔥🥁 Debbie is a musical gem and to still be going out just blows my mind!!! Loved her in 70s and still very relevant in 2000s😎🔥💯🎤🎸🔥🥁😘❤️Blondie🤘🎸🎤💯🔥😎
Most beautiful woman I've ever seen and their music special. Could never meet anything like her. Uh, and Clem Burke. Blondie is obviously an amalgamation of Harry, Burke and Stein. Harry actually never got enough meritorious credit.
I was a preteen late seventies, musically there was no better time to be alive you still had the influence of the 60s and the early 70s and all that was being reimagined by bands in the late seventies early eighties
Blondie paid tribute to the Beatles in another track, Danceway from the Hunter album with the lyric "England in the air Beatle in the bathroom" A very good video!

Well if that’s a rap song then “It’s The End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” is a rap song. Singing fast isn’t rap, it’s the drum pattern that decides what is Hip-Hop
Deborah Harry was the first rapper I ever heard, trail blazer, rock icon and huge influence on me, only bigger influence was queen and that was just timeline
It's funny to hear about Blondie from the American perspective. Were they ever big in USA? As a teen in the late 70s I just assumed they were a British band - no American band would play like that, and certainly weren't cool.
I thought Clem Burke was/is a decent drummer. He did a good job on Dramarama's 1993 album Hi-Fi Sci-Fi, especially the song Hey Betty. That song is high energy and the drums are killer!
One Way or Another wasn't about an ex-boy friend but about a serial killer, Ted Bundy, Debbie met, as she wrote in her memoir. Harry was alone in the streets of Manhattan in the early morning hours, searching for a taxi. Then, a white car pulled up and the driver offered her a ride. Harry had doubts about getting inside the car, but her feet were aching and the driver appeared to be polite. Upon realizing she was trapped, Harry managed to escape and lived to tell the tale..
No disrespect to Debbie but Ted Bundy was no where near NYC at that time. Many women have reported similar encounters at other times and places. I have no doubt a creep picked her up and the street smarts kicked in, but this wasn't Bundy. Several biographers and criminologists have weighed in on this. All say Bundy was out West and on radar by the authorities.

even if Debbie was ugly, her attitude and finesse was really what counts, coz Blondie were always a true band, Clem was always the backbone, great drummer, never knew he was a Ramone until now, whacky shit indeed.
Back in the 80s, I knew David Bowie had recorded back in the 60s and was in his 40s, but I had no idea how old Deborah Harry, Ric Ocasek or Kate Pierson were.
Debby was stunning. Great voice. Great front man. But, her drummer was the unsung treasure of the band. He’s an all time great.
I agree.
the bass player was awesome as well
But Debbie was mega-awesome.
The whole band was great and they all get overlooked.
Amen
Sad ending? Blondie has left a kick ass legacy of music that is timeless.

They only did one reggae sounding song and one rap song, and one disco. Majority of the songs were pop/rock
