Dave Walker's column in CCC was always the first page I'd turn to when I got a new mag, guy is a legend and spot on with his philosophy of measurement over opinion.
my dad (who was also a head porter) bought a superflow 110, back then all the flow calcs were done by hand - my dad paid me to write code in basic to computerise it all for him back in the early 80’s when i was about 13
The master of the simple statement that's backed up by a huge amount of real experience and a wealth of knowledge. A couple of my DW favorites are "you can't get air down a wire" and "give the engine what it wants, not what you think it needs" (apologies if I have that one the wrong way round...but the sentiment is the same - the engine knows more than you do).
Dave Walker and CC and C, what a great magazine. Years later I bought an Emerald ECU from him and he mapped my car! Always a pleasure to have a chat with
It’s nice to hear somebody talk about an old engine without rose tinted spectacles. Pinto’s were regarded as simple but tuneable (at least compared to CVH) - Dave’s view based on facts ‘dreadful things’. 👍🏻
Glad to see DW doing well, I spent a few days doing work experience at Emerald 15 years ago. Dave was happy to chat to me for hours whever I popped in.
Reminds me when we had to make a block at engineering school, with holes and angles and stuff The hardest part was habd cutting, with a hacksaw, the final cut for the dimensions Took about an hour Well, took me 3 because i didn't cut the first two correctly enough 🤦 Nothing teaches you patience like spending a day doing it all over again 🤦🤦🤦🤦
Good old Pinto spray bars too lol😂 To this day I still say that Dave’s Emerald P5 camshaft is still my favourite Pinto Camshaft of all time, no1 knows his stuff more than Dave 👍
Dave Walker, CCC & PPC - The stuff of Legend - Much, much better than crap like Max ... err..Speakers etc.... Bring em back I say! If you want to learn how to Engineer & Modify Cars using your brain and common sense, look no further.
agree. I started a Automotive Engineering BTEC in 1996 and was surrounded by Max Power readers who would tell us about ‘Superchips’. Meanwhile I was reading CCC and David Vizard tuning manuals. The reality is the world changed and now most cars get plugged in and assemblies swapped out.

Yep, me too, the dave walker part was always awesome....... and he looks the same as he did decades ago.
walkers workshop the main reason why i bought CCC magazine and PPC.
@@davecourse4234 Me too
Glad you enjoyed it. Bringing back the PPC (and CCC) classics
Great to see Dave, always enjoyed Walkers Workshop in PPC.

Spot on. He makes everything so understandable

I love that comment "I want to measure things, not discuss opinions"
I'm very much like this at my workplace, and people are realizing that finally..

Dave Walker's column my favourite part of CCC back in the day.
Wow, this is a blast from the past, always enjoyed reading Daves column in CCC way back when...
Dave tuned my duratec MGB. Absolute legend.
More of Dave's tech stuff on the channel please, loved his Walkers workshop pages in the mag back in the day.
We're planning on paying him another visit very soon 😎
Dave W is the man...forgotten more than most will ever know.
I'm glad to see Dave is still at it, I was lucky enough to speak with him a few years ago when my mate was getting his Elise tuned.
