If anyones reading this I feel like it's important to note that you should never just take down a wall without getting your house checked first. It could be load bearing without you even knowing.

This comment makes absolutely no sense and I’m sick and tired of you people 😂
First, They are renovating their own home.
Leaving problems behind for who? Themselves ?
Unfortunately, problems are a part of learning. And this is a DIY sir.
Second. they clearly know what they’re doing since the house has not caved in. How do you know they didn’t already get an inspector that gave approval? Oh wait you don’t.
Now, the question stands, since you obviously didn’t know any of this.
why do You care about someone else’s project when at the very end, they found absolute joy In it.

Licensed general contractor 😂😂😂. What schooling did you attend to acquire such a license? What you really mean is that you paid $90 to register your business to the state as a Home Improvement Contractor lol. That’s not a license bud, it’s a registration so the state can collect a fee every year. That in no way implies that you are qualified to do anything. I know several realtors and investors that have an HIC registration as well and don’t even own any tools.

  • @matthewvidale2948

Just know that if you come into a Reno video comment section and mention anything about load bearing walls you look like an amateur. Everyone in these comments thinks they are an engineer. All she showed us was her removing the drywall, the wall is still load bearing at that point. Then in the next shot you can clearly see the beam, and joists that are hung to this beam. So the load is now bearing on the beam. Now for those complaining about the electrical, once again you are not a professional and it is showing because it is very easy to re run these circuits and re wire that part of the wall. Yea there are some shady diys but before you comment, at least look at the video a couple of times

If you don't trust watching a UA-cam tutorial, just do what my aunt did. Hire some guys to work on one part of the house, ask around and find which guys would normally work on the project that you're trying to do, and just ask how to do it. I loved the oak cabinets better. They went with the rest of the living area but white is OK, too!

It’s okay, the video says you don’t have to know what you’re doing. 😂 😂 😂

Good job, but why building the cabinets on the messy and dirty places. Floor was dusty. Also, why in USA they do not tile first? It is so annoying that they wrap around canibets everytime. Tiles or flooring does not matter. So unlogical and messy finishes.

That was 100% a load bearing wall. You can see the stacked studs as your tearing down the arch.
Only proper way to do this is installing a beam to support the wall and shoring up everything below it. Your house is now at risk of collapse congrats, hope it looks nice, hope you list the horrible error you made in your future sale.

Uhh 😰 there were TWO triple 2x4 that I could see. Very concerned this was a load bearing wall. Did you get an inspection to double check? or replace it with a column? This is nerve wracking 😅 and I don’t even know you guys. But insurance will not cover any damage caused to your second floor/roof if this collapses😢
