Jake is my favorite Spiderman. We have gotten a lot of stories with an older Spiderman, like with the whole Parker Industries thing in the comics. Peter B Parker is kinda of like the guy who is an alcoholic, but instead of drinking it's being Spiderman. He's addicted to it, and it's kind of ruining his life. He is like a functional Spiderholic. And like most addicts, he is using his addiction as a distraction to avoid things he doesn't want to confront. When he is going through his post-divorce breakdown, he won't take off the suit, not even while watching TV. At the end of the movie, when we see all the spider people back in their homes doing their spider thing, we see Peter B as Peter, finally having taken off the suit, put on real pants, and facing his real issues. I don't think every version of Peter would naturally go down this road, or that it's the only story that makes sense for an older Peter, but it's a story we haven't seen before, and for that reason I love it.
Whats funny is at first I didn't recognize him in Into The Spiderverse, when I did, all i kept seeing was Nick Miller. I really enjoyed his role as Peter B. Parker because he can basically be himself and still fit to the storyline of the character, regardless if he had any experience being a divorcee.
I'll be honest, I never liked it that he was cast as the voice of Peter, mostly because his voice didn't felt like a way Peter would sound to me and also because I had played Spider-man PS4 and really loved Yuri Lowenthal's version of Spider-man, but then I saw the movie and saw that he was playing like a Old man Spider-man who's been through so many crap in the years he has been Spider-man and then I realise that his voice does fit that version of Spider-man so hopefully if they make a sequel he comes back.
