He's a bratty, murderous, obnoxious little boy but I just can't help but love him. His insecurity, growth, and hidden love for his family just *works*.
His initial run with Dick in the comics was literally one of the best arcs of all time. But they're short-changing him in other media by not letting him have that humanizing experience with Dick. The whole point is that he's a reflection of Bruce's trauma which Dick was able to heal.
He never grows. He’s the exact same murderous little bastard with 0 redeeming traits in every arc. The only way he gets away with it is because people only think biological children are ‘real’ children and adopted children are inherently evil and scheming.
And the human brain especially in the past 20ish years has become heavily attracted to darker and more taboo topics like death, assassins, psycho and sociopaths, etc etc
DAMIAN WAYNE is a Shakespearian tragic hero. Reminiscent of two legendary epic characters : 1. MORDRED Prince of Camelot torn between his father noble King Arthur ( Batman ) and his mother evil sorceress Morgana La Fey ( Talia ). 2. OCTAVIAN the heir of the great Julius Caesar ( Ra's Al Ghul ) and the son of his grand niece the scheming Atia Of The Julii ( Talia ).
That’s makes sense Talia also loved Greek mythology and history. Peter Tomasi and Pat Gleason Batman and Robin had shown flashbacks of his childhood where Talia compares him to Alexander the Great.
I would like one day to talk about how Grant Morrison's erroneous narrative in the character of Talia, since from what I know Talia does not rape Bruce, since every time people mention that they like the brutalia ship they always say bring up the topic, and the fact that this narratives affects Damian's Character.
Yeah he did Talia bad with his retcon of her character and events. Because I believe there was a child made by Talia and Bruce before in the comics they eventually retconed. Hope they don't adapt Morrisons Talia in brave and the bold
Hello! Amazing video, though I hope you don't mind me dropping a few critiques. 1:59 --- This was retconned! Damian wasn't *created* in 2006, though it was his official first appearance. Damian has made a cameo in the older comics; in the older Son of the Demon (I think 1987 Batman?). Both Talia and Bruce go way back and would've been married, and what they had wasn't a simple fling (nor was it an assault). Talia fakes her miscarriage and ultimately breaks up with Bruce, since she is worried that Bruce would get himself killed trying to protect her and the baby, and gives Damian up to a wealthy couple for a chance at a normal life. The entire, 'Talia SA'ed Bruce to conceive Damian' debacle was created by Grant Morrison (who, admittedly, has never read any of the previous Talia comics). It was more or less seen as hate aimed towards Arabs post the 9/11 tragedy--- as such, most (if not the entirety) of Talia's character got butchered, along with Ra's and any other Arab characters in DC. 2:12 --- Fun fact; Ra's actually loves Bruce (as depicted in the older comics, again) and sees him as his son. The whole heir thing comes later. The only reason he even likes him in the first place is because Talia does. Again, I would like to emphasise how almost the entirety of Damian's upbringing stemmed from racism at the time of his appearance and how it was essentially stolen from Talia. His backstory would've contradicted Talia's (and to an extension, Ra's) character. 11:30 --- One thing to note, while Talia did wage war on Gotham, she didn't know Damian would be there; and the only reason that he was is because he feels he has to prove himself to Bruce (who, at the time, said that he planned on returning Damian back to Talia so she wouldn't cause the war, even saying to Damian that everyone whose lives were taken from them would be ultimately his fault). While Talia was just as guilty, I would like to comment on how Bruce plays the part in contributing to Damian's death as well, albeit indirectly. Heretics is just bad writing. I wouldn't exactly call Damian 'sociopathic', as he was shown to be very compassionate and gentle in his own ways; he spent months in a sewer finding Martha's pearl that has been lost for decades (this escapade would later lead to him being tortured by Morgan Ducard, otherwise known as Nobody). He loves his family and has painted them several times, and loves animals (that boy has a great bane, a cat, a cow, a turkey, a cow, a dragon bat and a dragon). Calling him sociopathic and reducing him to only his negative trait would be neglecting to acknowledge his other skills and qualities--- things like how he was canonically a member of the Batfamily with the most medical skills, how he was raised a prince (thus contradicting the theory how he has poor social skills), how he was kind, etc. One would argue that these qualities aren't prominent, though I would like to mention how Damian has been treated unfairly in the past as well; he wasn't given a second chance to correct his wrong-doings, he was essentially a prisoner in his own home (there were a few panels that implied how Bruce would lock Damian in his own room), how he was put in a hit list, etc. Keep in mind, Damian spent the first decade of his life in an entirely different environment with Talia, only to be moved to a different country overnight to a father who was only then a legend to him. One thing that I really like regarding the recent continuity is how it was implied Damian's intention to quit vigilantism altogether in favor of volunteering at a hospital. It fits his overall theme, how it goes in a perfect circle; Thomas was a doctor, Ra's is the world's oldest physicist and Talia was studying medicine when she met Bruce (who, I reckon, was a medic school dropout). It deviates from the usual pattern of the previous Robins: how he wasn't given the choice but to accept Robin, but was the first one to quit it on his own term. It suits his character well.
Lot of your opnion ibased on him up to rebirth era he is changed a lot from there reading his curren t comic in which he is 14 year and is mature alot make me feel old he is now emo kid who is dealing with his first crush is hilarious i thing best thing about damian is abilitly change with time some character really struggle with it i am looking at tim drake definitely reccomend his curren batman and robin comic with bruce it so fun
I think Damian is the defiantly shoud be the next Batman because unlike Dick, Jason, and Tim Damian had no choice but to get involved in the superhero business.
I can't remember where I saw this but he did become Batman in future once he became of age. He also dawned the cape and cowl during the DCeased series! I agree! It would be cool to see him as Batman at some point in the main DC comics continuity!
Honestly Damian is my favorite robin because i can relate to the fact that he never has a deep connection to people, and that he cant read a room. I have autism so i struggle with both of these things daily, i can see the humor in his misconstrued attempts at bonding with others, as i do these same actions unintentionally.
although i acknowledge that dick grayson is the best robin damian is still my favorite because although he is bruce's true son he's way more different than the other robins than you could imagine
I don't know if you can call him a sociopath he isn't mentally ill he was raised into acting like a sociopath but then again there is a history of mental illness from Martha's family if you want to believe the Bruce is mentally ill headcanon and by extension say that Damian is also mentally ill
damian is only popular because he was shoved down our throats and because he's robin. Robin is probably in the top 10 most popular and iconic superheroes of all time.
Hebrew 6 verse 10 God is fair. He will not forget the work you did and the love you showed for him by helping his people. And he will remember that you are still helping them.
The only reason Damian is popular is because he’s the ‘blood son’ and culture is primed to see adopted children as not ‘true’ children and in fact scheming, manipulative monsters. Thus Damian has the inherent storyline of ‘reclamation’ because Bruce cannot possibly love his adopted and fostered sons as they aren’t his ‘real’ children. Only Damian is. If you like Damian you ndver be around adopted or fostered children.

That's true! Those subtle little things about Damian make him a really awesome guy!

Very true!
I love him so much he deserves more comics alone without his family i loves how he out of the box not like the other robins ❤❤❤
He was a funny leader of the teen titans! Watching him not read the room is always fun haha
Man its nice seeing some Damian love for once
He's the perfect comic book character!
thanks for understanding my favorite character
Anytime 😉 Future character essay suggestions are always welcome!
Damian is easily as my favorite robin. Thanks for doing this video chief.
Its always perfect when Damian gets paired up with Nightwing!

Plus his run with grayson as batman is my favorite.
I love this little psycho probably one of my favorites Robin's next to Dick.
Amen! Dick Grayson is my fav! Damian works well in the Bat-Family in his own unique way!

I love how you unferstand damian get lot of hate for injustice game which is basically not even in continuity
i get what you mean i never had a problem with him since i first saw him in son of batman movie plus when you give him a chance to grow he will grow
threy said tim died from that fall he survived

some people actually relate to and love his character, like me
@@twix2581 i love his character too
@@poopooman-q7r ok, sry for the misunderstanding
This is real because even tho I love Damian the way they trampled over Tim in the 2010’s to get people to like Damian was insane
I heavily respect the opinion bro Damian is cool but he’s my least favorite Robin. I respect your opinion and love for Damian though.
Thanks! Dick Grayson's my fav! I still like Damian Wayne a lot too!

Damian is a grape-baby. 🤔
