    I speak with tension, too high of a pitch, and shallow and throaty. And then I sing with support and less tension. Dr Jeckle and Mr Hyde (spelling?). You wouldn't think its the same person. I already knew this, but your video is excellent. I'll work on speaking with support and with a slightly lower pitch!

    Hey man, I just found your channel a few days ago and I just wanted to say that I love your videos!
    You're so enthusiastic and informative, you make it fun to watch.
    This video in particular has really helped me out a lot.
    I've always felt insecure about my speaking voice. People have said it's strange since I was a kid.
    I didn't know what they were talking about until I heard my voice recorded, and I couldn't believe what I heard.
    I used a lot vocal fry, a southern accent, and I was hard to understand. I hated it!
    I've worked on my voice since then, and I've come a long way.
    I still unintentionally use a lot of vocal fry when I'm trying to speak quietly. Still haven't figured that out yet..
    But overall, this video has helped me speak more clearly and be more confident. So I just wanted to say thanks!

      Transient Wonderboy This is an exceedingly kind thought. UA-cam does allow this, but we've opted to keep the show completely non-profit as a service to singers worldwide. However, you may be interested in purchasing the VLTTW Vocal Course. This is a way to support the work that we do at New York Vocal Coaching and also you get a product that hopefully benefits your voice greatly! So, that's something to consider! In any case, thank you so much for your immense kindness!

    • @NewYorkVocalCoaching
      @NewYorkVocalCoaching  7 років тому +12

      Some people are naturally louder than others, but you can probably be louder than you realize with proper training. It shouldn't feel forced. I'd say "allow" yourself to be louder, rather then "trying" to be louder. I bet you were louder as a child. Perhaps you forgot how. -NYVC

    I'm a lowish bass-baritone. How can I increase the volume of my low notes? My range is Db2-E4, but at F2 and below I find it hard to sing those low notes loud, and they sound airy when I go F2 and below (not vocal fry).

  • @jeshadevonne9725
    @jeshadevonne9725 7 років тому

    I never realised how lazy my speaking voice was until I watched this Video.
    I am a female and I have such a low voice because i just let myself fall into that voice but that seems to be very common amongst Australians, I am now trying to speak at a higher pitch and I can already feel the difference!!
    Question though, is it normal to have your nose close up when you sing? i feel lile it is limiting my range drastically because i can hum with a larger range than what i can sing.

    I used to have a deeper speaking voice BEFORE getting necessary tonsillectomy surgery from chronic tonsilitis. Now when I speak it's harder to project in a low voice, so I unmeaningly speak higher so people can hear me. I want to be able to speak in my natural register so people can hear me, and so I don't strain speaking too high. Could this be corrected by vocal lessons, or would I need to see a speech specialist? My voice seems fatigued often and can get hoarse. Thank you!

      Hi Suji! You can definitely find help for that! A Speech Coach or Voice Teacher should be able to help you work through those new challenges! -NYVC

      Iago jogando jogos Remember - this is an extreme coordination. We would never actually sing or speak through a yawn. The exercise is to assist in finding a low larynx. It should be used in moderation and only as an exercise. But, if used in this context, it can be very effective for learning to not raise and squeeze the larynx. Enjoy!
