Then it shows them shining a lazer-pointer on random women's tits and asses, as they walked through the mall, and sneaking cell phone pictures of women in the changing rooms...then they saw some teens/20-somethings skateboarding in the parking lot...and it cuts to a scene where they're in a bathroom stall, and "Ronnie" says: "I'm not gonna lie to you...there's *nothing* good about this at all!" As he proceeds to inject heroin...then it's "back to work" as they attack the skateboarders in the parking lot, and they chase them down in a golf cart! I forgot how to share links, as I'm old and "computer-retarded," but it's easy to find this scene on UA-cam if you look up: "Observe and Report/Drug scene" They could not have picked a more perfect song!

"Over Under Sideways Down" is a 1966 song by English rock group the Yardbirds. Inspired by Bill Haley and His Comets' "Rock Around the Clock", Jeff Beck plays both the lead guitar and bass guitar. The song was released as a single in May 1966, two months before the group's self-titled UK album". B-side: "Jeff's Boogie" Recorded: 19-20 April 1966, Released: 27 May 1966 Studio: Advision Studios, London. Label Columbia Songwriter(s) Chris Dreja, Jim McCarty, Jeff Beck, Keith Relf & Paul Samwell-Smith (also the producer)
Rock around the clock is the last song to relate to this tune, lol, there may be influence from Bill Haley to start playing guitar, but that's about as far as it goes here. These comment sections are getting twisted into all kinds of stories.
What is so brilliant about "over under" and "heart full of soul" and "still I'm sad" etc etc etc was their genius at syncretism: a sonic potpourri and music goulash recipe of many gestures from past "airs" often historical and embedded in the culture, that strike an ancestral chord in people keen to such things: gregorian chant, or czech or roma gypsy riffs, or long ago brit folk tunes, and on and on. All the great rock groups did this, Who, Beatles, Stones (Paint it Black) and Cream, on and on. They knew how to conjure a lot of "primal" cultural buried memories, literally in our DNA And THAT rocks!
I really loved this band's music when I was in my teens and I Still DO !!! There were some GREAT rock bands that came out of This band (Led Zeppelin ,Cream , Renaissance , The Jeff Beck Group) as well as ALL of the great bands that this band influenced in their writing and style !!!

This is much better than The Beatles, you've got real musicians who were of the highest caliber making music. Not a recording engineer's top 40 studio band that fell flat live stage because all they knew was to strum, sing, and play simple structure songs.
@@checkinout6000 not better than pinball wizard
@@DG-sf9ei The Beatles more complex stuff was never played live. tut. People who put the Beatles down haha
This song and for your love were etched on my memory by the time I was three years old. My uncle listen to the Yardbirds all the time and by the time 1970 rolled around at six years old I started asking for the records myself. When I do follow the careers of all three great guitarist that came from the band. It’s been a wonderful trip so far
My sisters and I shared a bedroom (and slept in bunk beds). They'd prefer to listen to the Four Seasons and "bubblegum". I had this song playing quietly on my transistor radio (hidden under my pillow) - while my poor sisters tried to sleep!
Good for you, Nora!
B-side: "Jeff's Boogie"
Recorded: 19-20 April 1966, Released: 27 May 1966 Studio: Advision Studios, London. Label Columbia Songwriter(s) Chris Dreja, Jim McCarty, Jeff Beck, Keith Relf & Paul Samwell-Smith (also the producer)
Saw them do this on television in 1966 Paul-Samwell Smith was playing bass ,could have been mimed
Rock around the clock is the last song to relate to this tune, lol, there may be influence from Bill Haley to start playing guitar, but that's about as far as it goes here. These comment sections are getting twisted into all kinds of stories.
@@DG-sf9ei Right, same as you are free to 'twist' your story, OKA 'an opinion'.
@@mowbray99 Well, there is often a difference between studio musicianship and live performances.
Take the Beatles, for a prime example.
They knew how to conjure a lot of "primal" cultural buried memories, literally in our DNA
And THAT rocks!
My anthem growing up ! Love it .
I absolutely get the chills from this song!
A band from my era too! I’m 68.
Great bass playing
Been listening to this song since I was 16 years old, but died laughing at "Observe and Report" when this song is played when Ronnie goes rogue.
Who’s Ronnie?
@@riaingalligan8461 the character that Seth Rogen plays in the film Observe and report

@@nms7872 Never heard of it.
I discovered the Yardbirds when I was 11 or 12 they were and still are amazing brilliant
One of the great bluesly/rock/pop songs of the middle 1960's.
It gets you up and dancing!!
I really loved this band's music when I was in my teens and I Still DO !!! There were some GREAT rock bands that came out of This band (Led Zeppelin ,Cream , Renaissance , The Jeff Beck Group) as well as ALL of the great bands that this band influenced in their writing and style !!!
Renaissance were great!
When most were choosing Motown over Elvi or vice versa, bands like the Yardbirds came along, blowing the doors of traditional music! Thanks for the great music!
I was listening to Motown AND Yardbirds and all the Britbands. Loved them all.
I first heard this song in the summer of 1966, couldn't get this song out of my head. I sang this song and memorized the lyrics. My favorite rock song with the sitar sound.
cant believe how good the yardbirds are 👀😲 always discovering new old classics 🤘😎
Beck was the best Yardbird guitarist, period.
That was not a guitar.
AtmaRising page
Clapton, Beck, and Page!! Yardbirds had the cream of the English crop!!
Jimmy 's time would come
They were all good!
I just love that crazy eastern fuzz guitar by Jeff Beck...About a million miles more advanced than anyone of that era. And he's even better now. IMHO.
It was not a guitar.
@@stevequizodlibumpbumpbump3575 Also, Beck was gone by then. It was Page.
Scott thank you for solvin the mystery. I never enjoyed Beck but was always stirred by the sitar's workin here.
I think anyone who has doubts in their mind about this song, look it up and read the history of this recording... Jeff Beck (guitar) 1966
Before the days when Jimmy Page came on board.
@@stevequizodlibumpbumpbump3575 Solving the mystery? Adding to the confusion is more like it. It is Beck. Page joined them a year later. It is also Beck on bass
Fav guitar lick as a lad ...Thank you Bill Randall, DJ for opening your literature talk show with this tune legendary innovative possessed sound.
Thanks also for bringing Elvis to Cleveland in 1955. By 1958 Elvis was pure drek, cheese, millfed
I just watched the induction of the Yardbirds into the R&R Hall of Fame. When the Edge introduced them and they walked on-stage, the house band played Over, Under, Sideways, Down. I am 54 now and I don't remember hearing this tune in over 30 years!! I loved the Yardbirds when I was teen. The memories.
Fell in love with this song when it was used in a commercial for "Great Shakes", a milkshake product back in the late 60's. Took me FOREVER to find the real song! LOVE IT!
LOVE THIS BAND!!!! Look how cool the pic is at 1:04 especially Kieth...
Does anyone else miss album covers and 78 sleeves as much as I do?
You had them on 78?
My collection is all 33s and 45s.
Although, I do have them on cd now, to listen in the car.
Btw, their music, especially this song, is best played with all windows full open, or sunroof, or moonroof, or convertible top, whatever you have.
Don't worry about your neighbors. This will sooner or later become their favorite music, too. 😊🌻
Always amazed at hearing the Eastern riff with the rock n roll bassline. Years ahead
yeah isn't that great!? i like Beck a lot but the whole band put so much into this. the Brit rock & roll style, the "hey!" the slappy drums & *a day in town* lyrics all make this such a classic.heard this 50+ yrs ago & still love it!
A fabulous piece of music
I am 70 also,these guys were great.
It's "Rock Around The Clock" on LSD 25, add some Ravi Shankar musical spice and social commentary, and a dash of the mojo blues, all in a speed of light and the blueprint that launched a 1,000 genres to create a lasting legacy: The Yardbirds are true revolutionaries!
...........A TIMELESS CLASSIC..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw the Yardbirds at the Buffalo Guitar Fest like in 2006...great, great concert with a handfull of people there.
I'm 61 yo , and I just heard this for the first time. not bad for 1966 .
I dunno who thought to use an Indian sitar on this one- (an English language tune), and give it a Bollywood kind of sound, but whoever it was, genius! Absolute, sheer bloody genius! o.o
There's no sitar on The Yardbirds- Over, Under, Sideways, Down!! Sorry but that was Jeff Beck and his custom fuzz-tone and volume and tone knob pulling!!!!
Aye matey!
Beck using a '50s Fender Telecaster...there's a youtube video on it.
@@williamsawyer6206 Ah, fair play. It just sounds like a sitar. Still bloody clever though.
RIP, legend..
Another favorite classic.
This was when music was at its peak.thanx for posting
