great lesson for a killer tune, many thanks! Its rewarding to stretch out with complex pieces, but sometimes you just need something to groove on and this tune definitely lets one get down and dirty.

Hey this is just what I've been looking for, could you please tell me what was Beck using to get that great tone on New York City Blues, what amp, what pedals if any, and guitar. Do you happen to know what string gauge he uses? Thanks so much
I always played it with either too many notes or not enough notes but it never sounded quite right... The way you play it sounds right on... Thanks for the lesson...By the way, that Tele sounds wicked!

He's playing the main riff wrong. If you listen to Jeff Beck play it the bends have a short, intense vibrato that gives it that psychedelic Eastern flavor. He's not doing that and it sounds wrong. That's the key to nailing this song.
Back then I did not know who played the song till recently I Shazam it. I thought that song was done by someone else cuz I ain't heard long time ago heard the guy plays guitar for on here so make a mumbling sound the shouts then it starts All Over Again guitar part... I thought it was a tune from overseas with a sitar or violin sound to it! Lol...

Nicely done, very succinct and clear lesson. Awesome.
David, you have a really nice teaching style. Just discovered you today, but I'll be back and back and back.
Nice job on this great tune. I like the tone you're getting out of the Tele. What are you playing through to get that nice gain and sustain ?
Really cool lesson of a really cool tune! Could you do Shapes of Things also by The Yardbirds (with the epic one string Jeff Beck guitar solo)?
There aren’t enough how to play Jeff Beck songs on You Tube. Thanks for showing me how to play it.

I believe Jeff may have been using his Les Paul at that point.
I always played it with either too many notes or not enough notes but it never sounded quite right... The way you play it sounds right on... Thanks for the lesson...By the way, that Tele sounds wicked!
this dude knows what he's talkin' 'bout!!
One of my fav tunes!
Great job on Over Under Sideways Down, could you do the lead for Shape of Things
Nice.

ive been playing it wrong ! great job !

Exactly.
Fantastic! Thx!
I'm curious. How does Beck get that sound, I guess tone? It almost doesn't sound like a guitar, but another kind of instrument. Thanks in advance.
Fuzz pedal, probably an early tonebender.
Vox mk1 Tonebender
Is there a part II?

Dave Nasty to the rescue!
Tu sai insegnare a suonare la chitarra come io so insegnare fisica quantica, cioe' niente.
Very Eastern sound on this.song

He plays out of tune, the whole thing is played on the B string only. Make sure you can play in tune.
