hi can you just set more than two pin point with target control mode? i mean i know the timeline control can do this but is just a lot simpler with the target control. eldekrone did it best but that gear is just too expensive and im no profesional user. but i plan to get this bundle instead.
Hi Photogear news, Do you know if the remote control has a loop function? Meaning the electric slide can travel from point A to point B and back again? Or do we have to press the rewind and play button every time? Thanks in advance.
Yes, they have added the feature to the app since this video. It uses the A-B setting. Set point A, set point B as usual, then there is the option to loop back and forth between them until you stop ✋
Great Video. Picked up the iFootage Shark Slider Mini base unit without all the bells and whistles. I find for most videos, the single rail section is really good and I don't need a second rail. I plan on getting the motor and other unit at some point.
thanks for this vid. It helped me decide to get one. I'm in testing/learning stage now (just got it today) and so far so good. It does pick up the Motor sounds when using the built in mic on my GH5 but I almost never use it and for interviews it's always lav and boom (I always double mic) . While other sliders have bigger/more (and more $$) I decided this was a perfect match of cost and function. Thanks again for making this vid.
how would this compare to the Syrp? Both are not available now in the Netherlands... Syrp total is about 600 euro more expensive, but... has also more options I think...
Try the latest app update and make sure that the firmware is up to date. Also make sure the camera is balanced on pan tilt head. Put it on the quick release plate and then put a pencil under the plate. Move the pencil back and forth until the camera and lens is balanced on the pencil. Make a note of that position - look at the numbers. When you slide the quick release plate on line it up with this number so that it is correctly balanced. Also just try to slow down the movements slightly and make sure everything is very stable. I’ve found a more substantial tripod helps. Difficult to know exactly what is causing it, but try the above.
Awesome. Totally didnt think about balanced properly like on a gimbal. Maybe lenses were too heavy as well so I think I will get the L plate. Cheers for that reply.
Are the motors quiet enough for an interview scenario? I could hear whirring sounds in this demo but your lav mic is right next to the rig. Is a quiet interview setting with a couple of lavs a practical use case? Also can the tracker mode infinitely cycle back and forth? I’m obviously thinking of its use with a second B-roll camera. Thanks!
Someone else has asked this in the comments, so check out that answer too... But.... It's pretty quiet, I'm in a relatively soundproof environment wall/insulation/plaster, double doors, bit of sound insulation etc so no discernible background noise... The lav mic is very close to the motors - about 30-60cm at an estimate. Usually you wouldn't be doing an interview with the mic anywhere near that close. Also I was generally using the fastest settings - no point watching me move the slider for minutes. Like any motor the fast it moves the noisier it is. As for the cycle back and forth move... I believe this has been added to the A-B option, but not tested it yet. iFootage do update the app quite regularly so I imagine this will be added if it hasn't already... I'd like to use it myself for B-Roll
I really appreciate your full reply, Richard. I'm definitely going to check this slider out in detail. Absolutely killer for compactness, which as I slowly have learned is a big factor for usability.
See if you can check it out, it's always difficult to get the sound across in a video as so dependent on many things... If I get the chance i’ll whack a lav mic on and set up the slider and do a short video to put up on Instagram or Twitter or something later this week so you can get an idea. Will let you know if I manage to find time 👍
how do you charge it. i just recieved it and dont seem to have a charger for the 2 batteries and there was no screw to attach to the camera. is this normal
Have you used the Android App, the reviews on play store are all rather negative? I really like the look of this but if its poor on android then its as deal breaker.
Sorry to be a grump. looks great for the price. The motors seem quite laud for video. As a product review it would be good to see the actual footage and track a real object. How is it in the wind?
It's not a review due to being sponsored by iFootage - have to be clear about that from the start. The volume of the motors increases with the speed. In the video in was obviously doing everything about as quickly as I could. Slower speed, less noise. Windy conditions - I've used it on some open moorland in moderate winds and found as long as you have it properly supported it is fine - quite subjective as it will depend on camera, lens, speed of the movement, tripod being used etc. Check out Lok and Alex’s video of it for more real world use, albeit for timelapse footage
Couple of things to remember here - it's very close to my lab mic... At a few points about as close as my mouth is. The camera would usually be, what, at closest a metre from the subject, using a 35 or 50mm lens - most likely further than that. Also, I'm using it at the fastest possible speeds for the sake of the video. The slower it moves, the quieter it would be. Obviously for an interview you would be doing slower movements, much slower. Summary: should be able to do interviews with it if you record the sound carefully and place the slider. Maybe worth trying one out before buying,
Just tried it. Its actually pretty ok for the noise level and distance to where I would place the camera. However I had a problem with the tilt and motion tracking. It could not handle the A7s2 with 24-70 F2.8. I think it was too heavy and it jerks a little. Pan and slide seemed only when done manually. The tracking didn't work for some reason. Otherwise its really well built and a nice product.
There has been a very new firmware update and as I noted towards the end of the video, they are about to release an attachment that screws on the side that lowers the relative position of the camera. This should help with heavier setups. But yep, the 24-70mm f/2.8 may be just at the limit
Seriously! this is just and advert for this system. I so want to like it as its an affordable product. But I can't believe anything in this video as I know its sponsored. I think Photogearnews you are going in a very bad direction with this content.
Yes. It is a sponsored video. It is highlighted very clearly as a sponsored video. It is the sponsored content such as this that allows us to run the channel
And for that you want to check out the video that is mentioned in the video and linked to in the description. We did two video for iFootage - one with one of their users showing how he uses the product and another as an overview of the product. Thanks

@@Photogearnews Thank you dude, huge help!
Pleasure! Worth noting as well it isn’t just for the slide but also for the pan/tilt head
@@Photogearnews Thanks. Can you please help me find the loop option. I can't see it. Thanks a lot : )
You did an excellent job with this review! I'm hoping I can get into this system and a video like this helps me tremendously in making decisions.
Thanks!

Great but the 'Complete Set' is out of stock on iFootage's web site and no info on when it will be available (19th October 2018)
Great video. My footage isnt smooth when using this setup. Slightly bumpy. Any advice on how to fix this?
Try the latest app update and make sure that the firmware is up to date.

How much weight they can carry? I plan to use in my Nikon d500 with Tamron 15-30mm
It can handle up to 6.6lbs with the new L-plate or 3.3lbs without.
Hi, what shutter cable size is? 2.5mm or 3.5mm?
in the manual, it says 2.5 inches but that is too big
2.5mm
@@Photogearnews Thank you very much for your help! great video, because of it I got this slider for my self!

Hey there. How far can the head Tilt the camera? full 90degrees to the front and 90 degrees to the back or less?
We’ll double check and get back to you for sure, but from memory it is 35 degrees either way
Is it possible to make motorized moves of the slider from side to side without pan/tilt head?
Yes

MOTION CONTROL
Obviously worked this out after I did the video didn't I...
Why is this more than a few hundred dollar????? $500 max I would think.
Pity its too noisy for interviews. Otherwise it seems to rock!

How much $$$
Googled it so that you do have to! B&H have it at $1339 for the complete kit that we had (slider, motor modules, bag etc)
these sliders are wobbly as hell. to much money for wobbly buggy sliders. its a ad-video. shame.
