My superior guinea pig breed is
All of them! I love them I'll equally
My superior piggie is definately a CORONET. I used to own one and they are one of the most friendly guinea pig breeds i have ever owned. Their fur only grows to ground length and doesn't grow long like a peruvian so coat is maintainable . They are also less skittish & more curious and have amazing fun character & personality. Out of all the pigs i've owned my CORONET was definately a cut above the rest. Thank you Smartie for making my life so special for 6 amazing years 😘😘😘
Teddies are low maintenance and I like their fur texture, they're my personal favorite
I would love to own a skinny pig or a baldwin just for the fact its so unique and I would love to have at least 1 in my lifetime in the future! But definitely agree with this tier list!
I have a skinny and they are more work but are so much fun. Mine is super sweet and friendly, she loves people so she was my easiest pig to get used to me and get used to handling.
every breed is S tier (highest tier) to me ❤️

Oh man, I recently discovered your channel and have been going through your videos, I have to giggle at your answers for skinny pigs,lol! I have a werewolf skinny guinea pig and her skin is so soft, but no wrinkles,lol!
Skinny pigs are my superior breed. 😂 I have three girls and they're so precious. They actually don't feel wrinkly or like rough skin at all. Despite how they look, they are very soft and pleasant to touch. I would love to own a Texel or Lunkarya someday cuz I think they are absolutely adorable and floofy.
Haha I'm glad you like them! The thought of petting the folds of skin...it's too much for me lol. I do really like Texels but the longer haired breeds are soo much maintenance!
@@autumngrace. I completely understand! And yes they are. I enjoy grooming them but even then it's still a lot of work. I used to have a silkie and she hated being groomed so it made it even worse. lol
I own a Lunkarya, and they're great, really lovely temperament, but my GOD they're hard to keep clean! trying to brush their hair is like trying to comb a sheep 😂
I had a Skinny pig named Pancake. She was the sweetest girl and. I agree. that although she had wrinkles her skin was smooth and she was also very warm when I gave her little cuddles. I also own a Abby, and she sheds like crazy. Sometimes it would stick to Pancake's skin.
agouti is a coat pattern, it can appear on many different breeds

Abby’s for me are top tier but agreed on californian gp’s, they are awesome
I have Texel sisters and their coily hair is so soft! They have very different personalities from each other. Mine are very vocal when being held, and also very smart when solving puzzles.
There are so many different breeds of Guinea pigs and I love all of them but my 2 favourite are abbysinian and Californian
Silkie/Sheltie definitely belongs in "Superior"

Soon I will be adopting two piggies and I'm so excited! I like skinny pigs but I wouldn't own them because they require more work........
I own quite a big variety of piggy breeds so I feel like I should have an input here 😅 I LOVE my Teddy, she's so fluffy and very very easy to look after. I have found that she is susceptible to skin issues though. I also have a Sheltie/Silkie and she's very easy to brush, but her bum gets dirty very quickly because of her long hair. I also have 3 standard Americans, who are the easiest to care for and have the least issues. then I have an Abyssinian who's pretty easy to care for, but is susceptible to lice for whatever reason. then we have WORST; the dreaded Lunkarya. she's like a huge mop 😂 impossible to brush, impossible to keep clean. absolute nightmare, but I love her so it's worth it. in total I have 7 piggies. my ranking of piggy breeds I own would be (best to worst): Sheltie, Teddy, American, Abyssinian, then Lunkarya. my favourites of all guinea pig breeds, though, would definitely be Calis, they're absolutely stunning. I also have a weird liking for Baldwins and Skinnies! Im looking at fostering some for a local rescue :D
I have a skinny and she is so sweet. Yes they are a bit more work than other pigs but its worth it because they have been the easiest for me in terms of handling and behavior. My current skinny is super well behaved and super sweet. She loves people and loves to eat. Skinnies have a huge appetite so mine is usually always eating

I would put skinny pigs in SUPERIOR. I own a herd of skinny pigs and they are the most outgoing and social guinea pigs ever. They are so funny and active 🥰 it does not feel weird to pet them, they are warm and feel like fuzzy peaches. Baldwins on the other hand, no. Would not own. Teddy guinea pigs, merino guinea pigs and Himalayan guinea pigs would also be on my superior list!

October 12 is when I came home to two of my Guinea pigs dead, ones face bittin off and the other suffocated from a vicious stray cat 😞

If I rated them all superior there would be no point in doing a ranking video
I am fostering skinny pigs and they have a peach fuzz feel and you should not put coconut oil on them it clogs pores with a balanced diet you do not need to put anything on them . If they have dry skin like a haired pig you would need to find the cause not put oil in it .
Also California is a coloring pattern not a breed like a roan etc

Calis either have or are on their way to be recognized as a breed from what I've heard. And couldn't you argue that Himalayans are also a coloring pattern? I believe Calis are a newly developed breed that hasn't been officially recognized yet, but they're one of my favorites so I wanted to mention them.
And I don't own skinnys so I was just speaking in general to their extra care - I am not knowledgeable and do not claim to be since I don't own any and don't wish to.

A color pattern can not become a breed unfortunately not sure where that was heard because any breed can have a California pointed or Himalayan pattern rather it’s an American Teddy Texel etc.
@@guineapigfreakfbpage7463 yes I understand that, a Guinea pig could be a Californian and American. I use the term breed for ease of understanding, but I suppose “type” is more accurate. This was supposed to be a fun video not an analyzation of terminology ☺️
@@guineapigfreakfbpage7463 if you can refer me to an official breed list by an organization I’d appreciate it. I was unable to find one - so not sure where it’s been confirmed that coloring patterns can’t be breeds.
Just found the source. The British Cavy Council recognized both Californian and Himalayan guinea pigs as BREEDS.

My friend's brother has a skinny pig
I own a Abyssinian, a Crested and an American. I love Abbys the most because of their crazy hair and personality. I wouldn't own a Skinny, Baldwin or long-haired guinea pig because of the extra care they require.
Superior for me are Sheba, Cali, American & Skinny

I totally agree with the Baldwin opinion- part of me feels like it's cruel that they're bred not to have fur plus they have more health complications and a lesser life expectancy 😔 not saying people who have them are terrible or anything it's just not for me either.

any fabric store typically sells remnants of fleece on the cheaper side, or walmart has fleece throws for $3. you can cut any of those into smaller sections and have a couple pee pads!

Texels aren’t a rare cross of anything :) they are their own breed. Alpacas are rare and are a cross between Texels & English Peruvians.
Sorry the website I was on said they were a cross. However I did some research and looks like they were originally created by crossing a British rex and a silkie.
No reason to apologize. I’m not looking to offend you 😅 in all technicality, everything started off as a cross at one point 😁🥰
Hello the Skinny pig is not so difficult to handle y don’t bath 🛀 them only 1 time in the week put oil on them , it’s no more work then the Normal Ginny pigs

I literally never said I hate them I said I would personally not own one because I don’t find them aesthetically pleasing and think I would have sensory problems when petting them. It’s a personal preference there is no hate involved
