Awesome. Still got mine from 2014. It reminds me of one of the first things I bough when I started to get back on my feet after some financial burdens.
Nothing wrong with older games. What's even better is that the prices of those games are actually dropping on top of it all. I'm seeing XBox One titles go for as little as $5-$10 even (used of course, so buyer beware. It's very possible to run across a bad disc). Much more affordable than the most modern stuff that can run for $70-$100 new. If you're not someone who is insistent that games must be 2 years old or newer, it's actually a highly recommended way to go. I've seen the odd game released on consoles like that go for $40-$80 on Steam while their console port goes for $10 used. Once you have the console, there are some impressive deals to be had out there. Just know that availability may vary, depending on the source you use to buy games. 🙂
It's surprising what you can get out of the used market. You're going to run into some duds here and there (I've already run into 3 bad discs and a dud controller already in my adventures so far), but there's some great stuff out there as well. Sometimes, all a console needs is a general dusting and it is good to go. When I bought this console, the store hadn't even had a chance to blow the dust off of it, so while I was chatting with another clerk, the clerk took the console out back and gave it a good dusting before bringing it to me after. At the time, such consoles were hard to come by and they typically sold out quickly. It's not so bad now around here, but it was a rather interesting moment for me at least. Plus, the prices for XBox One games are quite reasonable (assuming you're not looking for mint condition or super rare games.) You can get some pretty good games for great prices - at least better than buying fresh brand new games at least these days. If my experience with the PS4, PS3, and XBox 360 is anything to go by, it's definitely worth it.
Wow! Thank you everyone for making this my first ever 500 view video! Also, thank you so much for subscribing. After hitting on such difficult times in the last month and a half, this is definitely the emotional boost I needed. Thank you!
I got a series x and it’s so speedy and runs faster than my buddy’s pc and it run 120fps. I had a one s for a while it was slow and the disk drive broke.
Microsoft made updates that made the disc drives stop working!!! My Blu-ray Drive on my Xbox one X no longer works and it worked all the way up until 2020 when I re-purchased Forza horizon three and play the game no problem and then they made a console update that broke the drive and made it to where it does not even recognize anything anymore !!!!! I don’t know if yours is suffering from the same problem? But I know this is what happened to mine because I only ever used it a couple times… 95% of my games are all digital and downloaded and because Microsoft wants to go this “all digital route” with game pass, and what not, I believe this is why they threw a wrench into the code to break everybody’s desk drive on their last GEN console? This would also allow them to drive up their numbers of people streaming games via X cloud?? It makes sense - At this point Microsoft and Xbox are Scumbags…
I just got the one s and I love it. I’m not jealous at all but damn it would have been nice to have that series x, I wanted it back in fall 21 I remember seeing it in someone’s room and being hyped.
@turismofoegaming8806 Yesss yesss dude it happened to me to just when the warranty went out and but in California warranty dosent run out if its a defect and if youve never had it serviced...its under the xbox warranty terms and conditions @turismofoegaming8806
Depending on where you happen to be located, an XBox One can be relatively easy to find our rather difficult. It also depends on the timing of your search as well. I wouldn't be surprised if you could pick one up for around $200 - $275 depending on the edition you happen to get. Just know that not all places you buy from are created equal. Some places might give the console a once over, maybe even partly refurbish it so that the customer can get some extra mileage off of it. Others might just buy it off some random person that walked in and put it straight on the shelf afterwards without really looking it over to make sure it works. So, if you are going into the market without really knowing the used market, it doesn't hurt to ask around about specific stores and ask if they have a good reputation when it comes to selling such stuff. I got lucky and have a store I buy from that has an excellent reputation. Hopefully, at least some of that helps you out on your search.
Congratulations on getting an XBOX ONE. The console deserved to be better managed. I remember working at Target during the PS4 and XBOX ONE Launches in 2013. The Target got around 30 PS4s for the launch. We ended up selling all of them before the lunch break. As for the XBOX ONE, we only got six consoles in for the launch. These were the early editions that included the Kinect. We only sold five that day. Personally, I think you'll enjoy Far Cry 6. Giancarlo Esposito gives a great performance as Anton Castillo. Sunset Overdrive was supposed to be an XBOX exclusive developed by Insomniac. Insomniac now develops the Spider-Man games for PlayStation. Seriously, GET MARVEL'S SPIDER-MAN! Finally, I downloaded an old PlayStation One game onto my PS5. The game uses the touch pad to act as the traditional Start and Select buttons.
Thanks! I'm quite excited to see what this console can do. Sucks that it didn't get the management it needed on the sales front, though. I do wonder, though, if that played a role in its popularity in some regions. Like, if someone walked into the store and there was no XBox One on sale, but a PS4, maybe there's a chance that some customers ended up buying the PS4 because of it being available. Hard to say if something like that would play a role, though, but it is an interesting thought at least. I'm already getting excited for Far Cry 6 then. Gonna get to two others first before I get there, but I am excited for it. I really am trying to get Spider-Man. I've been looking for about two years now to no avail, but I keep trying. If I can't find it used, I may have to wait until I get the PS5 before picking it up. I'm assuming it's a bit more available when it's new at least. It'll take me a bit to get there, though, but the effort is being put in for that game at least.
Interesting. I wasn't entirely sure what the plugin at the top was for. I looked at what I ended up getting with the XBox One and all I got was a power cable for the console and two HDMI cables (I bought this used). I'll have to look in to getting a power cable for the controller. Thanks for the idea!
Xbox 360 notorious for not getting game updates in fact games shipped broken and devs couldn’t fix them. Also the networking was very limited only a 100mb connection.
I had no idea. I actually thought the updates happened to be smaller if at all. Didn't think it was because the games weren't getting updated at all. Well, networking for that console is a bit more limited now as the online multiplayer servers for the console are no longer officially supported as far as I could tell. I only use the internet on the console for updates and achievements which is fairly minimal I think. Didn't test web browsing on the XBox 360 mostly because I use other devices for that.
Oh right... because a HDD wasn't enforced. And those memory units hardly held anything. So many games must have been broken. And yes the PS3 with its "installing... downloading updates.. installing updates" can be irritating too.
I had both and enjoyed both all generation long in the Xbox 360, was the best where all this is concerned- You could download games on it as well as updates and let it do it in the background !! On the PS3, you had to sit there and watch and wait-
Nice! The design with the blue spots on white looks pretty neat (Googled some images of it). I'm guessing it got a lot of nice mileage at least up to when you got the next generation consoles.
I still use my Xbox one X to this day also and it is my console with the most amount of games on it at over 500 all owned!! With game pass, it makes it astronomical and you sit there, looking at games, trying to decide what to play.. Sadly, they made updates that broke a lot of games on Xbox one X ! This happened when the series S and series X came out and a lot of developers never went back and fixed the Xbox one X version and so I feel screwed.. It took CDPR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF TO FIX BOTH VERSIONS OF THE WITCHER THREE BUT THEY FINALLY FREAKING DID IT?!?!! Games are still broken : Snow runner Devil May Cry 5 Wasteland three RDR2 (WAS the best place 2play) Assassins Creed Origins And many more …
That's unfortunate. A part of me wonders if there is some sort of heating issue or something. Have you looked in to what kind of repair services are out there to fix it? I know if you're buying a separate console, you're probably looking at some $200+ for that. While not a fantastic price, it's not terrible for a whole console, either. If I remember right, the XBox One has saves backed up in their cloud services, so maybe you'd be able to restore your save data with another console? Otherwise, it's probably a better option to have someone look at it because that would probably save you some headaches.
Hey so about your controller you probably already know about this but you can hold the Xbox button and you can turn your Xbox of or you can do that when it’s off and it will turn on
This was actually something I only discovered last week with the XBox 360. I wasn't really thinking and turned on the controller before I turned on the console. When I saw the console turn on on its own, it took me a second to realize what had happened. I thought, "Huh, I didn't know I could do that. That's pretty cool to know." I found this to be a really neat feature and it isn't surprising that it continues to be a thing with the XBox One. Hadn't tested that yet, but it would probably be something I would've tested once I got more into the gaming side of things.
You can also go into options and make it to where the button does not light up in case you find that distracting? Holding it for a certain amount of time will make the controller turn off without having to go to the options, and choose to turn the controller off!!
That's a question that doesn't necessarily have an easy answer. For one, many games that were released after the XBox series S/X was released also happen to be compatible with the XBox One. For instance, Forza Horizon 5 was released the year after the Xbox series S/X was released, but it is compatible with XBox One consoles. I can't imagine this lasting forever and I wouldn't be surprised if there are already games out there that have been released for the S/X that aren't compatible with the XBox One. For another, if you are looking at online content, The XBox One's ability to access the online digital store won't last forever. We've already seen online capabilities of the XBox 360 discontinued and the same will probably eventually happen for the XBox One at some point in the future. You can still install and play hard copies of games and what you already bought will probably still be accessible, but your ability to purchase new digital games won't be something you can bank on having forever with the XBox One. I'm not aware of when this might happen, but it is an eventuality. A fun fact, however, is that the XBox X/S does have backwards compatibility to some games going as far back as the original XBox. According to the Microsoft website (you can Google XBox series X backwards compatibility list), games like Timesplitters Future Perfect and multiple Star Wars games are backwards compatible. Just note that the compatibility may not be perfect, depending on the game of course. Hopefully, that helps you out. 🙂
I'll admit, that would be a very short video. All it is is connecting the power and HDMI cables in. Plus, I don't want to be posting a video of me entering account credentials and whatnot as that would be a bit of a security issue.
There's only two things I can think of that would make you feel that way. The first possibility is the set itself. I don't have the financial resources to build an elaborate set to showcase hardware, so I'm basically making do with what I have. While I think what I have here is fine and at least allows me to offer a good look, I know that there are far better setups out there. The other possibility I can think of it is the fact that there are no jump cuts or editing of any kind. I don't have access to video editing to make it polished, create animations on the side, have text or images pop up, etc. Every video I do is done in one take because of this limitation. On both counts, I hope I can, someday, be able to afford a better setup to showcase this stuff in a more polished manner.
My experience with the Forza Horizon franchise alone made it worth it. Also, XBox One was released in 2013, not 2016. Still, if you are looking for me to check out something newer, you'll like what I have in store in less than two weeks time.🙂
It's the controller I happen to get when I bought the XBox One used. I didn't actually have a choice on what controller I got, but I had assumed that this simply naturally came with the console since it came together as a package. I can see it being possible that the controller was bought by the previous owner separately for whatever reason, then when it came time to sell it, just sold this particular controller with the console. If it's not the controller that typically comes with this console, well, I didn't know it at the time of the recording.
Why don’t u just get a pre owned Xbox series s seriously u can get them for £100 in the UK so u talking wat $125 US. I mean if ur happy with the old generations then carry on but a lot of the new games u won’t be able to play especially the biggest game ever GTA 6, plus u can get Xbox game pass and play loads of new releases on day one and u have all the old games, pretty much all the games u showed are on Xbox game pass, it just makes more sense to me to just upgrade
I wish I could fully explain my overall strategy which involves me getting this console, but I can say that you're going to be really happy with where I intend on taking this channel in the future if you are interested in the more modern stuff. A big stumbling block is, indeed, money as modern consoles and games can get quite expensive compared to older generations. For instance, here in Canada, a new title can run as high as $90 (sometimes, even higher in specialized circumstances). Meanwhile, titles on older generations can go for as cheap as $3. What's more, there is an inherent advantage to getting a hard copy version of the game vs digital which can be arbitrarily deleted at any time. This over top of not having to worry about emulation issues when playing older titles since I am in possession of the older hardware the games were originally designed for. Also, had I not bought this console, I wouldn't have gotten all this response from the UA-cam community in the first place which is a nice bonus. I'm currently in the process of more or less catching up to modern gaming. After a few years, I'm now largely going through the previous generation of consoles, so it's not going to take much imagination where I intend on heading next. At this point, I'm getting a broader understanding of how gaming led to the modern era which, in theory, will make me more knowledgeable about the newest games than before. Additionally, I use a careful strategy of investing in the background to enable me to pay for these things. The longer an investment has a chance to grow, the better (especially if you are constantly adding additional funds to the base contribution). Because of this, by placing modern games at the back of the line, so to speak, those investments will be given the maximum chance to grow, making it easier to afford $650 consoles and $90 games in the long run. It's a multi-year twin strategy that is very nearly complete and, hopefully, will result in even better and more interesting content soon. It may not seem like much being shown on the surface for some, but there is a LOT going on behind the scenes. :)
Modern stuff doesn't come cheap by any means. It's the primary reason why it took me as long as it has to get to this point. The pace I set for each console is a game every month. That is much easier on a console where you can pick up games for $5-$25 each. It's substantially harder on a console where games cost $60-$80 each. I'm currently attempting to work on a library where the console/games are newer behind the scenes, but the going is much slower because of the cost. I had hoped for a better financial situation by now, but COVID, global economic slowdown, inflation, stagflation, and other factors had, well, other plans for me. I hear the criticisms and efforts are being made to address such criticisms as we speak. Just need a little more time is all (hopefully, by around this time next year).
So you got the Xbox one S in this video but not the Xbox one S controller which was the best Xbox controller they ever made!?!? In my opinion, the Xbox one S controller is my favorite controller. It is the same controller that came with the Xbox one. X!! It has a perfect shaped Dpad, clicky shoulder buttons and the best force feedback triggers, as well as the best joysticks with the concave design with a pinpointed center and a lip going around the outer edge whereas on the Series controller, it’s just a concave design with no pinpointed center.. Having the controllers used AAA batteries was also smarter and more efficient than using a built-in battery that when it dies you have to do surgery on the controller to fix it whereas on the Xbox side of things, all you Gotta do is pop, open the case and replace the batteries inside?! Absolutely works great if you have a rechargeable battery kit and just have you some batteries ready to go? I always disliked the “flush design” on the start, and options button on the PS4 controller as well… I also dislike the fact that they got rid of the shoulders where the shoulder buttons are located, because this makes it to where, if you have big hands like the average gamer, who is older than 33 years, makes it to where you have to cramp your hands, holding those buttons while trying to run with the analog stick at the same time, etc…
When I bought this console, this was the controller that came with it. The console, cables, and controller was all used and it was just how this was bundled. Since the controller worked when I was testing the console to ensure that it functioned reasonably well, I had assumed, by the time I had recorded the video, that it was just the controller that came with it. Judging by this and other comments, that appears to not be the case from the sounds of things. Unless something goes wrong with this controller and I have to buy another one, I'm not sure it's a viable thing for me to buy the original XBox One S controller unfortunately, but it'll be something I'll keep in mind. You raise an interesting point about the batteries in controllers, though. Indeed, if it's a built in battery and something happens to said battery, then you either have to have it repaired in a painful process or buy a new controller. I didn't think of that, though I guess I should have as I had a PS4 controller fail on my pretty early on when I started playing the PS4. I guess that after I had bought the replacement controller, I had pretty much forgotten about it since the problem was solved about a year ago. It might have been a battery issue for all I know, but with AA batteries, those can be swapped out without a second thought. So, I'd say that's a really good counterpoint.
@@YourEraGamer yeah it’s not viable to try to find a good Xbox one S or an Xbox one X or for that matter and original Xbox one controller, which is also slightly different, at this point… Unfortunately, ever since Covid hit, it drove up the cost of all video game peripherals that came out before Covid hit!! I’ve been trying to find me a brand new Xbox one X controller for a while now without having to spend nearly $100?!?! It’s why I also have a series controller that I use with my Xbox one X now, but I still have my original Xbox one controller and I had three others, as well as a white one that came with my Xbox one S that I gave to my friends that needed controllers, and I wish I still had them but.. at the time I was trying to do something nice for one of my friends that needed a controller you know? Either way, it is because of the controller that made me want an Xbox one to begin with over the PS4 even though I got the PS4 first.. I like the PS4 controller, but it has more points about its design that I would consider negatives than it does positives? They gave it bigger handles but but because of the way the controller is shaped it works against the natural leverage of your hand as your hand grips something and this is something that the design people over it Microsoft thought a lot about when they were designing the Xbox one and the Xbox series controller because if you look at how the controller is shaped, and when you press one of the triggers all the way down, your hand is not cramped in anyway, and it creates a right angle in your hand. It works with the natural leverage of you gripping something!! it’s harder to explain than I would like, but that was my best attempt.. Great video man!
I have Far Cry 5 on PS4, so the plan was to play Far Cry 5 first. Was going to look into what came first, New Dawn or Far Cry 6 and play those in order of release date. Looked at the Wikipedia entries for both out of curiosity and that would definitely be the order I would've gone in. Good idea either way, though. Thanks! :)
I still daily drive my Xbox one from 2013, a close family member gave it to me in 2016 and I’ve been using it ever since

Nice console.
Also, movies. On blu-ray. Worth it
I won one of these from a Goodwill auction for $20. It’s super dusty, but I was surprised when it worked perfectly. It even read discs perfectly too.

That's pretty cool to know."
I found this to be a really neat feature and it isn't surprising that it continues to be a thing with the XBox One. Hadn't tested that yet, but it would probably be something I would've tested once I got more into the gaming side of things.
If you ever need help just comment here I subbed and have notifications on so I will know
You can also go into options and make it to where the button does not light up in case you find that distracting?
Holding it for a certain amount of time will make the controller turn off without having to go to the options, and choose to turn the controller off!!
does the xbox one x or s play all xbox one games that are for just the xbox one? and vice versa?
Can you make a video about setting up the xbox one 😊
I'll admit, that would be a very short video. All it is is connecting the power and HDMI cables in. Plus, I don't want to be posting a video of me entering account credentials and whatnot as that would be a bit of a security issue.
This video feels like from 2013 for some reason (even though the xbox one s was exist in 2016)
There's only two things I can think of that would make you feel that way.
That’s totally fine, i like it. It remind me the old youtube days. That’s what i like to say “nostalgic”
Good job for that content, keep it up.
@@HamOzer Thanks! You've also given me something interesting to think about as well, so I appreciate it! :)
Bro is living in 2016💀
My experience with the Forza Horizon franchise alone made it worth it. Also, XBox One was released in 2013, not 2016.
Still, if you are looking for me to check out something newer, you'll like what I have in store in less than two weeks time.🙂
@@YourEraGamer your Xbox is a Xbox one s that was first released in 2016.
Also I can't wait to see what you have in store for us.❤
@@riftcoco360 Thanks! Been both excited and nervous about the first two video's in the new year. Hoping for a positive response for those.
Xbox One Today is still good tbh
Definitely agree. Getting a lot of entertainment out of it so far already.
Wow you deserve more views snd subscribers
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words!
That's a series s controller
It's the controller I happen to get when I bought the XBox One used. I didn't actually have a choice on what controller I got, but I had assumed that this simply naturally came with the console since it came together as a package. I can see it being possible that the controller was bought by the previous owner separately for whatever reason, then when it came time to sell it, just sold this particular controller with the console. If it's not the controller that typically comes with this console, well, I didn't know it at the time of the recording.
My favourite is the Xbox one x ❤
Took you long enough
@@YourEraGamer I got one for 200$
So you got the Xbox one S in this video but not the Xbox one S controller which was the best Xbox controller they ever made!?!?
@@YourEraGamer yeah it’s not viable to try to find a good Xbox one S or an Xbox one X or for that matter and original Xbox one controller, which is also slightly different, at this point…
Unfortunately, ever since Covid hit, it drove up the cost of all video game peripherals that came out before Covid hit!!
Man play first timpe far cry 5 and after far cry new dawn
I have Far Cry 5 on PS4, so the plan was to play Far Cry 5 first. Was going to look into what came first, New Dawn or Far Cry 6 and play those in order of release date. Looked at the Wikipedia entries for both out of curiosity and that would definitely be the order I would've gone in. Good idea either way, though. Thanks! :)
r u a bot
I would be a pretty impressive one if I was.
Get a ps5
Don't worry, on my to-do list. Modern hardware is expensive, unfortunately, which makes it harder to jump in to quickly.
xbox1 is a pile of shit.
