I feel like Northlane is the perfect band to get fans of mainstream bands like Deftones, Korn, and the like... into progressive metal, Djent, etc... these dudes are great composers. The fellas make excellent music from every album. Creative, distinct, flow/groove and still technical and piggy, heavy, clean and dissonant. and definitely solid live. One of my personal favs right now forsure. More drum cover Nic, love watching you throw down, your style is unique!
Its crazy how theres people that actually hate on thier new stuff with Marcus. They progressed and still have that heavy northlane feel when they want to.
It's the only way I can pick. My hand gets confused if I clench my fingers. But if I use the board of the guitar as stability, its easier for me. I just learnt that way and I find it easier. I thought it was a bad habit but now seeing Jon using it has made me feel better xD
DrewV5150 Yeah so true but I can assure you, it's not as easy as it seems lol. Tried to learn it and I only nailed the intro riff, then my brain shut off :(
Mirko Fustinoni yes but it’s a customs shop with the bridge pickup. It being available to the public as well as it having a custom finish and his specs
Wish the whole album had their tone. Their production is really distinct so part of me respects and admires them doing something different, the other part of me thinks it sounds really dull
same happens to me,their production sometimes is way too sterile, like it's so perfect but not in a good way, it's just plain sometimes, on the other hand i love their live sets
@@Kidcrowley thats just the producers style. everything he does turns out like this imo.. look what happened with alien as soon as they went to nolly for mixing. sounds fuckin massive
@@SDREHXC two years ago i didnt understand much about guitar shapes and bodies, apprecieat that comment, back then i hated anything else but a super strat and les paul
666nataS it's a bottom F. Their tuning is a drop f on a seven string but the top 6 string are tuned from C standard to drop A sharp. So it goes F-A#-F-A#-D#-G-C. It's really weird
Produced and mixed by David Bendeth @ The Barber Shop Studio.. He is a multi-platinum award winning producer! The mix on this record just fits their sound perfectly, especially live. As a fellow bass player I personally think the bass tone Alex has on Mesmer is one of the best sounding tones across all of their records. I feel if the bass drum had more bass/volume to cut through the mix it would take away from the low end from the guitars/bass which is essential to their signature sound. I have been lucky enough to see Northlane live a few times and they are phenomenal with an incredible live mix! The kick drums cut very hard live, Nic is a sensational drummer! They know how they want to sound and everything they do is a for a valid reason. They are incredibly particular about everything they do.
I find myself boosting the fuck out of the mids in the car just so I can here the guitars a bit better. Especially in songs like 'Solar' during the "guitar solo part" which is barely audible in the production mix. Otherwise, it's grown on me and I love the album as is. Keen for an instrumental so I can appreciate the guitar work though.
I was just gonna say it sounds like they brought the mids on the guitar so far down it sounded muffled, whilst Marcus' screams kind of pierced your ears. So you could turn up the volume to get some kind of clarity out of the guitars but obviously the caveat to that was Marcus making your ears bleed Just speaking for myself but yeah I personally hated the sound for node. Really disagree with what the producer did here

DrumsPlayer DirtRacer Them or Tesseract! You can definitely here and see that Josh and John or highly influenced by them.
Its crazy how theres people that actually hate on thier new stuff with Marcus. They progressed and still have that heavy northlane feel when they want to.
I like Northlane and I love Deftones and Korn... They shaped the sound these guys are evolving into so you gotta respect that..
Yeah, they´ve got me
Jon has very interesting picking technique
Gryllus the way the fingers on his right hand are straight and pointing out?
themusicguy I play like that as well, I used to think I was the only one that played like that
I pick the same way. It's actually very comfortable.

The way he holds his pick at like a 50 degree angle is so strange yet interesting, haha.
my motivation to improve on guitar just grew up by million omfg this is fucking great
lol really? A wet shit could play this. Aim higher.
Arti Sen douche... It's not about technicallity it's about musicallity.

@@artisen5794 Then upload a cover wet shit 😂 I‘m curious to see you playing this 😂😂
Holy shit what a ride. I absolutely adore these kinds of spacey and kinda futuristic riffs.
@2:55 jon is beating the absolute life out of those strings
I think Marcus and Adrian are fantastic vocalists, but I love hearing the instrumental versions of Northlane tracks.
Oh dude you and I both. There’s just something about these tracks without vocals, that give me goosebumps.
I live for that second verse riff.
With the delay? Fucking amazing, right? Very Wes Borland IMO.
they’re very influenced by wes, just listen to solar
On repeat for the day. They make it seem so effortless to be that beautifully brutal. Cant wait for the instrumental deluxe album!

YES. Hoping we can expect more of these
Fuck I can't get enough of that Northlane guitar tone...
Such a good song
Oh my god, that's sick, this breakdown just blow my mind
Super tight. ☑️🥷🩶
Sweetest groove!
the whole album is the shit! i fucking love it! PLEASE do a zero-one play through
MUST HAVE INSTRUMENTAL VERSION OF ALBUM PLEASE. THANK YOU
The tone is strong with this one
Best metal song of the decade
Super sweet to see this dudes :) Love from Amsterdam!
START/OVER holy shit I love you guys, your music is amazing
Who else mouthed "FUCK THIS SYSTEM" 2:41 - 2:44
I don't know anything about guitars, but that light blue guitar is sexy af!
MESMER INSTRUMENTAL PLS !!!!!
very good
Amazing
You guys should do heartmachine!!!
CANT WAIT TILL Intuition [DRUM Playthrough]
Was blown away by these guys live, now I guess it's time to down-tune my 7-string!
Josh needs his custom to be a sig like Misha’s
It is...
There's 12 of them, 3 owned by Jon.
Hmm.
Not sure how I missed that.
Might go get my eyes checked tomorrow.
Isn't that basically b7 model?
Mirko Fustinoni yes but it’s a customs shop with the bridge pickup. It being available to the public as well as it having a custom finish and his specs
I meant like how misha has a more affordable Ht6. And yeah its a B7 but The HS model is custom to him.
1:00 Josh Smith belched hahahahahahaha
This is why I got an 8 string set for my 7 string 😑🤘
The young Lorne Malvo.
whats wrong with me? after watching the guitar playthroughs i can play the drums haha
😍😍😍
So buttery
Good cover, can you make colourwave next?
Gryllus ain’t no cover bro
you blokes clearly can't detect a joke....

ÓTIMO, MUITO BOM. ABRAÇO !!
Didn't know I wanted a 7 string telecaster,
but now I do.
This is like sex........ just... longer
If this is longer than your average sex time, then you should see a doc dude.
Exactly 4 minutes longer for me
😮
More.....
That breakdown in the middle reminds me a bit of Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit and his playing for some reason 🤷♂️
One of John's inspirations, if I remember correctly.
Wish I had a 7 string. Fuck! You guys are inspirational.
the instrumental version of render please
Why have they swapped parts here?
I just want the Discoveries sound back
🤡🤡🤡
Please, which string gauge do you guys use? And what is the scale length?
Vojtěch Krása baritones 27” I think?? And an 80 on top then like a 60 or something down
do they use real amp or kamper?
what gauge size of strings they use? sorry for my english
.80 on the lowest, all I know.
Hello (sorry for my english)
Aleksander Vedom oh you're so funny m8
That Tele is scareing me
Nice cover guys, pretty much as the original :v
Why do so many modern djent players use 7-8 string telecasters
Lamborgatti -47 because they want a telecaster sound with a lower low end? Seems pretty self explanatory, no?
@@SDREHXC two years ago i didnt understand much about guitar shapes and bodies, apprecieat that comment, back then i hated anything else but a super strat and les paul
Scale length as well
Please just do a tab book with Sheet Happens :(
My h1007 is collecting dust. Might as well put her to use
Those dislikes look pretty left out over there :)
Gucci
spaghetti riffs
am I the only one who thinks Jon looks like Spock?
When you realize it's not just downpicking during the "F the system" breakdown
30 second ad... Yea I'll be ok
Who doesn't use Adblock in 2017?
Aaron Gerwing on my phone. Still get ads for some reason
the low E is kinda spaghetti lol

i know its not E tuning... but it is LOW E string :))
they use 0.80
thats strange i use 0.74 for Drop G while having 25.5 scale and its not that "floppy" probably just looks like it only.
666nataS they use 27 inch baritone scales so it shouldn't be floppy at all with that .80 gauge!
lool ,,, lool
I wonder how Adrian would've sounded on this track
Anybody else feel that the mixing on Mesmer is like, really bad? The bass drum doesn't cut at all and the bass tone is overbearing.

Chewing gum in a video is so disrespectful.

A playthrough without live audio is just a music video...
but there is only 2 members and they arent any vocals. stop.
