I am currently doing my level 2 and level 3 qualifications through fitness academy and I am always a fan of the fitness world I previously worked in a gym and I would love being a personal trainer and instructor
So I can get more clients and I am always up for the challenge and I am very passionate about it and will let nobody take away my happiness for the fitness world
This is really interesting. I did my level 2 YMCA fit (during a career break), but I am a law lecturer. I've always been passionate about exercise and the gym. In the end, it was easier to stick with the law and have the gym as a hobby. At least, I have a qualification for life and the knowledge.

Hi Dani, I'm 17 and I'm not enjoying sixth form at all. I would really love to become a personal trainer. I've loved fitness and working out since I was very young so this seems like the career for me. Is there any advice or ideas you have that can help me pursue this dream. I've looked online at apprenticeships but there's always the college option aswell. I suffer from ADHD so I struggle to concentrate for long periods of time so written and text based work is very difficult. How much of the course/s is written and how much is physical/practical? Thanks - Chris
Hi there! I think it would be great for you to get qualified as a personal trainer! Once you've got your certificates and insurance you can start coaching as your main career or a side-hustle that you can enjoy whilst earning money. The course is quite science based but my exam was multiple choice answers, coursework including creating session plans and then practical sessions where you lead a session. I think you can do this if you're passionate and hard working!

I’m about to start personal trainer course. I’m just wondering that don’t you get burned out working with clients and when it’s your time to work out, do you have any strength left? Is it really worth it?
Hi I'm a personal trainer for past 3 yrs by experience, I'm going to make PT certification, there are bunch of brand is there I'm confused , so in uk which brand of personal trainer certification big box gym are expecting?? In future I'm planning to move on to uk and as a foreigner what kind difficulties will I face intialy please reply It will really help me...
Hey! In the UK you need a level 2 and level 3 certificate which you can study for at home or on a course with a teacher - however I really do disagree with looking for the "quickest" way to become qualified in anything because the most important thing you'll need is experience. I see too many so-called coaches who have a certificate they studied for in like 6 weeks but really still have no idea what they're doing or why they're doing it - it's dangerous! Hope that helps though!

What qualifications do you need to be able to train clients and how can you get those qualifications I have looked online spoke to people they have said that I can do a course online but that cost like a lot of money where I am looking for a free course
Hi! You won't be able to get qualified for free unfortunately - take a look at some different companies and find one that has the best payment plan option for you

That's awesome Sean! A lot of people I know trained with premiere so definitely check them out! Once you're qualified I also highly highly highly recommend that you check out starting online coaching because working hours as an in-person PT will really limit your potential client numbers and how much you earn. Thank you Dani I just found your "old" video 😏 I can totally relate, I had the same plan : Working as instructor for stability, experience and stable pay and starting up as pt. But overhere in Belgium, there are very few job-openings as instructor and way too much candidates so I had no luck so far. But actually this made me see that passion for training doesn't necessarily mean I have to become a personal trainer. I am changing career path entirely now, but of course I keep on training bodybuilding and Kung Fu. Thank you for the insight, take care Seniôrita.
it is hard making it work as a freelance personal trainer, I worked with the gym group for 10 months, and then the rules changed which screwed with the marketing decisions and how I was marketing my prices. as my own Boss, I felt like I was stuck in my own container where I couldn't do anything I needed to grow. Now in Portugal thinking up new strategies :)x I'm getting in touch with as many Personal Trainers, make new friends and like to get in touch so we can share ideas with each other to build the successful and ideal business that works for everyone. : please get in touch if this sparks any interest for anyone., thanks
mike titmuss it is so hard! I left the gym group last summer and haven't looked back! At the moment I'm working alongside my coaching partner in a private gym but trying to rebuild myself as a freelance photographer and videographer. Keep working and you'll get to where you want to be! Good luck :)
Loving your content. Thank you for this if been thinking about becoming a pt. After helping a few people reach their goals running. Is there any reading Material you recommend me reading before I commit to training and getting qualified?
The best thing I can recommend is talking to as many personal trainers as possible - ask them about their experience so far and make sure that it's what you want to do yourself :)
Hey! So I got my level 2 and level 3 personal trainer qualifications and my insurance and then applied to a few different gyms in my city - I only coach 3 sessions a week in a private studio now but I still really enjoy it!

Hello Dani! I'm still waiting to do my level 3 then level 4 after the lockdown. Can I ask, how was it when you first started to give classes and was you nervous? And how did you manage to drum up clients? And any tips for prompting and advertising? Thanks.
Hey Daniel, how are you? I was definitely nervous when I started haha but I learned to love it! It helps if you can teach a class you enjoy as well so for example I taught all the circuit classes but I didn't teach boxercise. Being enthusiastic and helpful during your classes and your shifts on the gym floor is so important, but being active on social media is the best way to reach people nowadays. You can message me on instagram instagram.com/danibarker_media and I can share more tips with you there :)
I'm 35 working full time in security which i dont enjoy, I am thinking doing a online personal trainer course as I enjoy when im in the gym, would i need to start a level 1 or 2? Which online would you recommend?
Awesome! Most people do level 2 and then level 3 - and then I just recommend getting as much experience training people as possible. It's hard when you're already working full time but when you're qualified just leading a session or a class here or there will keep your skills fresh
@@DaniBarker awesome thanks Dani your a star, I want to change a different career path, I enjoy the workouts, I wasn't when I was younger, I started training Dec 2015 I was 25 half stone and was going through depression, I train and ear well not only I felt happy but also mentally I was feeling in control of my demons, I drop to 16st half stones, I challenge my self to 3 wolf runs, and 2 boxing events which my second one it's next weekend I'm now 19st but slowly turning muscle, I want to help people train on physical and also mental side of things and motivate as much as I can, try to make a difference
You said you see your clients on line? What did you mean by that. Also how did you land that gig? Did you just walk into the gym and say you were a certified trainer? Also group class work outs, do you structure the workouts yourself or does the gym give you a daily routine?
+Ryan Crabtree hey Ryan :) so what I mean is that I have clients who I train remotely via an online platform: we meet via Skype each week and I send their training and nutrition plans in spreadsheet format making changes as needed. I joined The Gym Group after applying for a personal trainer position they advertised online - they required my certificates and proof of insurance. I can only speak for my branch of The Gym Group but there were different classes with different focuses (eg. Abs blast, circuits, body conditioning...) and staying within the class name and 30 minute time limit the trainers could design the session how they like. Any more questions I'm happy to help any time!
It's been terrible here! I'm not a personal trainer anymore but I still train myself 5 times per week - we've barely had access to gyms now for nearly a whole year :(
Hi! I've just finished my second year on a biomedical sciences degree - I'd say that having biology to a high school / undergrad level would definitely help but going to college specifically for personal training isn't necessary. Depending on your situation you can study for your certificate part time at home or on weekend courses - you can still earn from a regular job until you're confident that you can turn training into something full time. Hope that helps!
@@ethanr9822 most of these certs are a joke...if you do it online...you can get someone to do test for you......online stuff is scam i actually had to go to class it was really fun.....everyday is interesting........

Serious question here : what is the maximum age you realistically see yourself working as a PT? Because everyone knows there's no trainers over 40-45 in any gyms. Or at least gyms don't want them anymore, because they can easily get younger ones.
Realistically? 21 haha! In one of my more recent videos I explain my journey this year into professional video and photo work 🙏 I still train myself and I still coach a small strength based group however "personal training" is not something that I do anymore. I agree with you though, whilst it is possible to work within the fitness industry for as long as you would like, it is likely that your role will change with your experience and physical capacity.
I disagree to a certain extent. I really don't see any reason why people cannot continue to be a PT way into their 50s and beyond. So what if gyms don't want that demographic. Who cares. Gym's are not the be all and end all of training! If you have the knowledge and the clients then there's nothing stopping you.
I disagreed with u r opinion ... First of all what is the % of certified trainer's in compared with the all of the trainers. ... Secondly can u noticed any certified trainers who is 45-50 year older....
Yeah, when I started in February it was 13 hours but then it was brought down to 12 some time around May. I quit the company 8 weeks ago to go fully freelance and haven't looked back! Are you a PT too?
no, but i have my level3 & i volunteered at the local Thegym group, 16 hours is a lot. That is amazing to quit! how are you now training clients in the gym or are you just mobile pt?
Oh cool ok that's a great way to get some experience! When I started at The Gym it was my first ever time working in fitness so a good place to learn. Now I'm based in a non-commercial brand gym where I have a lot more freedom :)

I am currently doing my level 2 and level 3 qualifications through fitness academy and I am always a fan of the fitness world I previously worked in a gym and I would love being a personal trainer and instructor
So I can get more clients and I am always up for the challenge and I am very passionate about it and will let nobody take away my happiness for the fitness world
Does time go quickly as a or or does the day drag a bit
Nice video! I appreciate the effort. Thanks for sharing
Glad this was helpful! Apologies for my terrible video editing back then haha but I keep it on my page just in case it helps one more person :)
This is really interesting. I did my level 2 YMCA fit (during a career break), but I am a law lecturer. I've always been passionate about exercise and the gym. In the end, it was easier to stick with the law and have the gym as a hobby. At least, I have a qualification for life and the knowledge.
Glad this was helpful! Even though you haven't started working as a PT, you never know :) how's it been for you training during lockdown?
U r personal trainer actual days ?
Why , I Brazilian , and here I m personal trainer , and February I will go to London for study n networking at área fitness .
Help me for information ,
Tks
Great video. I checked out your IG. Is there any chance you'll do a video update on where you are now? Congrats on your Figure competitions, by the way.
For me I think is more worth to be employed “contract work”.
You will have clients secured and you don’t need to wake up at 5 6 am
True! There's pros and cons to every business model and method!
I think you can do this if you're passionate and hard working!
what did you film this on? :)
Keep going love your work
Thanks! If you'd like me to go in to more detail about this or have any more questions about fitness coaching or social media though send me a DM on Instagram instagram.com/danibarker_media 😊😊 I'd love to help!
How would you maintain your business if you go out of town?
Hey Samuel! I'd say that building an online coaching business is the best way to go in 2020 and beyond because it means you can work with your clients no matter where you are in the world. This is a super old video haha but I know it still helps some people! If you need any more help then you can find me on instagram instagram.com/danibarker_media
In future I'm planning to move on to uk and as a foreigner what kind difficulties will I face intialy please reply It will really help me...
awesome video!
Thanks!
Hi, what's the best way and the quickest way to become a certified personal trainer? Thanks!
How to pursue career in fitness in London?
Hey Donald! I'd say the first steps are getting your qualifications and insurance and then finding a gym that you'd like to work from. This is a super old video haha but I know it still helps some people! If you need any more help then you can find me on instagram instagram.com/danibarker_media
What qualifications do you need to be able to train clients and how can you get those qualifications I have looked online spoke to people they have said that I can do a course online but that cost like a lot of money where I am looking for a free course
Hi! You won't be able to get qualified for free unfortunately - take a look at some different companies and find one that has the best payment plan option for you
Hello.. you doing good job.. can just know that where you from??
I'm based in Manchester, UK
Thanks Dani for your ambitious and for sharing this video im gonna study 20 june to nutrion and personal trainer in sweden which you the best with your career

Have you graduated and what did you study?
Hi, how do you keep things interesting?? I guess I have a fear of having someone do the same workout some weeks? Should I switch things up? Thank you! Xx
Hi Casey! That's a great questions! Keep trying new things and challenges - consistency with workouts helps you track their progress but including some variety within each session is great too. Been watching a few personal trainer videos and I feel like this one gave a much better insight into the day in the life of a PT. I'm actually watching these because I've started thinking about going for my level 2 and level 3 and pursue a career in being a PT. I'm looking at doing mine through Premier Global. Would you say they are a good one to go through or are there any others you would recommend? Cheers. Keep up the good work. You're doing awesome 👍🏻👍🏻
That's awesome Sean! A lot of people I know trained with premiere so definitely check them out! Once you're qualified I also highly highly highly recommend that you check out starting online coaching because working hours as an in-person PT will really limit your potential client numbers and how much you earn. do you know what its like being a full time personal trainer at puregym?? im interested in being a full time PT but dont know the details.
I don't unfortunately but I know it is a similar kind of company to work in. Some trainers do shifts in lieu of rent and some pay the rent so they don't have to do shifts. Puregym is very popular with newly qualified coaches so is a good place to start I think!
Thank you so much , you really helped ❤️

This is a video from 4 years ago, you still training?
Thank you Dani I just found your "old" video 😏
I can totally relate, I had the same plan :
Working as instructor for stability, experience and stable pay and starting up as pt.
Glad this was helpful for you! Yeah this video is super old now haha! Good luck with everything :) Sounds exciting!
it is hard making it work as a freelance personal trainer, I worked with the gym group for 10 months, and then the rules changed which screwed with the marketing decisions and how I was marketing my prices. as my own Boss, I felt like I was stuck in my own container where I couldn't do anything I needed to grow.
Do you work in Asia, i noticed that kanji in your intro?
No I don't! I actually have those 3 kanji characters tattooed on my back!
When working for the gym group, do they give you group exercise training if you have no experience
Yes! You are likely to shadow another coach on shift so that you can lead classes together to start with
Loving your content. Thank you for this if been thinking about becoming a pt. After helping a few people reach their goals running. Is there any reading Material you recommend me reading before I commit to training and getting qualified?
The best thing I can recommend is talking to as many personal trainers as possible - ask them about their experience so far and make sure that it's what you want to do yourself :)
how did you become a freelance trainer? if you dont mind me asking whats the process?
Hey! So I got my level 2 and level 3 personal trainer qualifications and my insurance and then applied to a few different gyms in my city - I only coach 3 sessions a week in a private studio now but I still really enjoy it!
Hey, is it worth it in terms of paying rent in the private studio vs getting your money for doing 3 sessions a week? :)
I'm also really curious about this👆

Great Video :)

Great video. I just started at a Puregym near me around 2 weeks ago. Any tips that you can share?
Thankssss
Tips for picking up clients that is :)
Cool! Just spend as much time there as possible - train there yourself and get to know people 👍 clients want to work with coaches they know and trust
That's actually great advice, thank you
All the best! Make your dreams come true..👍
Thank you!
what are the requirments
You need to have a level 3 or higher personal training qualification, personal trainer insurance and a first aid certificate :)
Fornier students can be apply for gym trainer?
As long as you have the correct qualifications and insurance you can apply to be a gym trainer wherever you are :)

Dani Barker loved it! I hope your business is on the up . Your a very educated , knowledgable female who will be an awesome pt xx
Nice content 😀
Thanks I appreciate it!
Hey guys, here in NZ I think the economy has really affected the fitness industry since lockdown 🇳🇿 what has anyone else found 🤓
It's been terrible here! I'm not a personal trainer anymore but I still train myself 5 times per week - we've barely had access to gyms now for nearly a whole year :(
May I ask what degree you are currently pursuing? And if you would recommend college for aspiring personal trainers?
Dani Barker alright thanks for the help!
@@ethanr9822 most of these certs are a joke...if you do it online...you can get someone to do test for you......online stuff is scam i actually had to go to class it was really fun.....everyday is interesting........

Are all personal trainers self employed? Doesn't the gym hire people to help run the gym, admin and all that stuff?

12 hours for rent? I live in Cardiff and it is 16 hours TheGym
Thanks
Great video
