I got mine one day ago! Everything about it works! App works without any problems. Can watch videos on my iPad and iPhone; delete or download without any problems. This is my first drone and I am (wait for it😊) 70+ yrs old. All I can say is it just works as advertised! UA-cam videos were my best friends! 💖☺️🤗

It is also a total pleasure to see and hear about a product and some self promoting and self effacing ramble.
This looks like an amazing tech no doubt, but I will wait for a 2nd version where there is an obstacle avoidance and ability to fly over water for those zoom out beach shots. A higher altitude zoom birds eye view and zoom out will be an interesting addition as well.
It cannot fly over water because water is moving. Version 2 or 20 will have the same issue. Sounds like you need a DJI and don't mind the compass calibration and GPS way point issues?

Great review. I'd like to add more than one rotation to "orbit", a hover option to "zoom" and the much anticipated hand gestures. Other than that, it's a solid piece of kit.

That is a terrific video, thank you for your excellent review! You mentioned that you needn't worry about "No-Fly Zones". Is that is a country other than the US, as I believe they are still restricted from flying No-Fly Zones in the US. I live near one, and can never seem to get clearance on LAANC apps.
There's always one.... Dude, it has a max ceiling of 50ft. If you have an airliner flying less than 50ft about your head then they already have bigger problems than your palm-sized plastic drone

Wow, thank you so much for this; I'd never heard of it but I think I may already be hooked! I need to buy one. I have two questions if I may: Does it land before the battery dies? And are there settings for different recording modes (i.e. low light, white balance, iso, etc.) or is it just default settings?

Yes it will auto-land, no it's not really suitable for low light

• How well does it perform indoors, following from room to room, up and down stairs, around corners, etc?
• And is it possible to adjust the subject placement? From this video, it seems to keep your head in the centre of the screen instead of a little higher. It would be great if you could at least tell it to aim lower when necessary. Not all the time though, just when you wish that you could reshoot a scene.
What happened to the release of the 2nd version HOVER 2 with the obstacle avoidance and so many other upgrades!?

The question was “whilst having a drone or two, why don’t I use them much for blogs and multi day Bikepacking”

Overall, I have a feeling it’ll be see a hell of a lot more than some of my other options … but not replacement them for other things. It’s just that this will come with me a lot
I spent a small fortune on a Mavic Air 2 or whatever the thing is called. I've used it exactly 5 times, only one of which was 'serious' rather than just playing with it. It's just too much hassle, constantly updating and recalibrating the thing. It sucks all the fun out of the activity, so it's sat in its bag for a few years now, and it can stay there. Ordered one of these instead!
@@bigglyguy8429 yeh, I’ll be honest, if I want something else than blog from the drone then the dji is a good option but the reality is mostly I just don’t want the bloody thing to be intrusive to what I trying to capture.
The limited “manual mode” options on this are fine to for most things you don’t want to be in.

Currently workaround - zoom out we have to duplicate and reverse the footage to get zoom out and zoom in

It works like a optical mouse, able to see how far and in what direction it has moved. Using this over water would be like using an optical mouse on water. No.
Can this Drone recognize you in a small car for and slow speed dirt road shots?
This explains the obstacle avoidance … posted by the manufacturer on their faq Hover 2’s proprietary Optical Radar is a swiveling stereo sensor that gives the drone depth perception in every direction. We combined this with SLAM 3D mapping, VIO (Visual Inertial Odometry), and path planning features, so the drone can bypass obstacles while tracking a target in real time.
I am quite sure they explicitly said there is *no obstacle avoiding*. Could you point to the optical radar post you mention?
i saw this quote on their web page ... under FAQ, but it seems to have gone .. ive emailed them to ask why ???i does seem to have some sort of help avoiding obstacles @@gannebamm2
@@gannebamm2 Maybe they don't claim it but you literally just saw it avoiding the trees?
@@bigglyguy8429 I have a hover myself and it does not avoid obstacles. They also do not state it anywhere. Nonetheless, the following algorithm is quite good at following your own path instead of flying just 'to your location'. Therefore, some times it will feel like the hover avoids obstacles. I am quite happywith the product even though it has its flaws.
@@gannebamm2 Mine literally arrived 30 mins ago... Waiting for the battery to charge now. Have activated and changed to English. Was surprised the drone already had a battery attached, so my combo pack actually gives 3 batteries? Yeah, following your path actually makes more sense than wasting battery on heavy computing power and sensors
Want one but going to wait until GEN 2 comes out. Would like to see a bit higher and faster flight ability. Also, maybe a light on the bottom that helps the camera see the ground better when the sun is going down for nice sunset shots. I say GEN 2 but I guess it would really be GEN 3 since they also made the 6-year-old Hover Camera Passport. Watch some of those reviews from 6 years ago and you will see how improved the X1 is, now lets start talking about the HOVERAir X2!! Side note: If Zero Zero Robotics wants to send me one to Florida, I can get it down here to Jardin Colombia South America to test it out in the Andes Mountains at an elevation of about 2000 meters.

Can you transfer the video shot with the Hover X1. On to a flash drive?
There's no direct transfer. It don't have a USB port as well.
The only way is connect your phone wirelessly to X1 to save the footage to your phone's internal memory and then transfer to a flash drive or ssd.
I would have bought it but... 2.7k 30fps is not enough / no SD Card slot / no real Gimbal, just EIS.
I noticed that your video is 1080p 60fps : So, i guess that 2.7k 30fps is not so good. What is the bitrate ?
I will wait for the next version. But this flying camera is a very good idea.
I just received mine and the gimbal keeps flicking up and down making the footage unusable. Any idea what is wrong with it?
Let me know how you get on with the customer service please. Zerozero have not replied to my numerous emails regarding my broken drone for more than 2 weeks now.

@@RunningSlow they asked me to submit a request through the app. The directions were as follows: Open APP-- Find "Me--Help and Feedback--Feedback--Select + Download + Upload All usage records + Circle the App log--Submit Feedback

@@Brhino_pk Thanks, I've been through that process. It's almost sorted, as they've agreed to send me a new replacement drone. They said my emails were too long, so were going into their spam folder 🤔. The time difference means emails don't necessarily get picked up straight away also. Hopefully all sorted now, but it has been very frustrating.

If your based in the UK as I am, the customer service is proving to be absolutely abysmal. My gimbal broke almost 2 months ago, and after much chasing zerozero agreed to send me a new drone. Great I thought, however I've heard nothing from them for getting on for 2 weeks.
I have one on order how did it break?
@@BarryMountford the gimbal just stopped moving up and down once switched on. I've emailed them again today for an update as I've still heard nothing.

This.footage looks jerky. Is that how it comes out of the camera?
App not working, sent 5 messages to different addresses and accounts and no answers. Wouldn’t buy it as of now. Poor customer service, or even inexistent as I’m concerned right now.
So nobody sees that all the footage is stuttering? It doesn't matter its price, the footage is horrible.

I saw the original version of this UA-cam video and it was nice, not sure why this one is not good
This company never honored their Kickstarter campaign. Make sure you validate any of their claims carefully.
