GoodBadFlicks 100% the dubstep gun was the best thing I've seen on UA-cam all week 😂. On a wider note, love your reviews. Interesting, informative and genuinely very funny. 👏👏
I actually stumbled on to this movie after watching Stone Cold because of your recommendation. I had forgotten how awesome of a villain Payne was in this. I also wanted to thank you for introducing me to a bunch of lower budget action movies I never would have given a chance or even heard of, Like Stone Cold and Ring of Steel, if it hadn't been for your channel.
If there is one thing I appreciate about this channel of yours, is the videos never feel dated. I can go back to back from a video made in 2015 to a newer video and yet the videos still support the same quality to them.
You can always trust Bruce Payne to embrace his roles and go all out. I first saw him in Passenger 57 and thats basically it, until I discovered he played the title role in Warlock 3: The End of Innocence, not a good movie, but he delivers as usual. Thanks for, yet again, shining the light on a movie that`s easily missed! I have shunned Ultraviolet thus far, and I will probably regret it, but sometimes you have to see a bad movie to appreciate a good one. Equilibrium is good though!
I knew I have to see this, when I saw Jeff Kober and Bruce Payne at the beginning - OMG this looks like soo much fun! Then again I adore almost all his roles - wait make that adore all his Villain Roles - he once played a bland hero and boy that was bland ...
GoodBadFlicks oh I was thinking about Bruce Payne as the good guy in No Contest II (don't recall much about his character there) Jeff Kober I do like as the good guy and will definitely check out this movie if I get my hands on it. Jeff Kober plays one of my favorite vampires in Kindred (where he plays the Nosferatu Primogen and is for some reason utterly handsome)
7:07, should be "ordnance," not "ordinance." You have to love that. And love that Bruce Payne, Jeff Kober....and Neal McDonough are in this! Hubby and I love, love Equilibrium and we're glad it's getting noticed. Oh my gosh. "It's illegal to drive dead," indeed. I bet Butterman owns this and it was one he made Angel watch in "Hot Fuzz." As always, very enjoyable. When we when the lottery, we'll up our Patreon donations, friend.
"Win" the lottery. See what happens when I type with a toddler on me, on an iPhone that insists on autocorrecting? Anyway, hubby was familiar with this one, I was not. Glad you found it.
Thanks. I haven't seen this movie since the old days of HBO Thursday Night Prime. You always find the great forgotten gems of cinema. Now I have to find out where to watch it.
A very awesome job on a very underrated 90's action revenge flick that stars ''THE BOZ'' this and ''Stone Cold'' are has best Bruce Payne is a very fun bad guy did you ever seen him in ''Full Eclapse'',''Howling 6''&''Passanger 57?'' BTW If you aren't able to reply back which I don't know why YT does that just sent me a PM Cecil.
Always makes my day when I see a video from you my man! Ive been with you for who knows how long. Keep up the amazing work my man, and keep doing what you love!
Haha quality review, the dubstep gun.. & awwww shit! get's me everytime. How the hell did I miss this gem in the 90's? I will deffo be hunting this badboy down. Bruce Payne also played a terrific bad guy in Passenger 57, I'm sure you already knew that but still nice to see he got more great villain roles lol.
Heh heh. I just watched this for the first time in 30 years. I was so mortified by it at the time that I took my name off it as writer. At the time, it was just cheesy - but now, I realiize, with the passage of time, much like many 70's film - seen thru the fond lens of the past - it's actually cheesy AND bonkers - which is always entertaining. I've never spoken about this, but the truth is that I was fired for about a week and a half - didn't shoot the army base stuff at the beginning or the rooftop fight at the end or the convenience store scene - not that I'm proud of everything else - but it was fun to shoot the action scenes and work with Bruce Payne and geeked out getting to shoot him just living his best and most satisfying life doing whatever the hell he wanted whenever he wanted. Watching it now I realize what I had forgotten - so many incipient ideas that show up continually in later films - especially in terms of tone, attitude and bonkersness. Your review is hilarious. Thank you. :)
You are welcome! Thank you so much for watching, I'm glad it brought back some good memories. I think the movie is flawed but fun. Its always crazy to find out all the headaches that go into just about every film.
@@GoodBadFlicks At the time, it was a nightmare - because, in my mind, I dreamed for so much more, (also, I didn't have a fucking clue what I was doing) but after seeing it after all this time my initial horror has faded and I'm actually proud how nuts it is - and the fact that I was able to pack so much killing and fun lines/character (crazy as they are) in a 3 million dollar film. Additionally, I was surprised to see even then that there are some interesting visual ideas in the film - such as the reflection of Bruce Payne in the Piano, swish panning to the pianist just before he hits it. Anyway - live and learn. Review THE BEEKEEPER. :)
I would absolutely LOVE to talk to you about Ultraviolet. I know the movie was severly botched by the studio but very little is known about the production. I'd been wanting to do an Exploring video about it for years now. (check my Exploring playlist if you want to see what I'm talking about) Email me! cecil (@) goodbadflicks (dot) com Also, yes! I'll check the Beekeeper! Been wanting to see that one it looks fun. :)
Yay! Another Equilibrium fan! I had to see it in South American Spanish the first time since they didn't even bother to localize it for Spanish audiences. Luckily my English has become good enough that I don't need to watch movies dubbed anymore. An exploring episode for both Equilibrium and Ultraviolet would be cool.
Curious enough, the actor who is playing Savaq is the SAME actor who played Damodar the Blue Skinned Captain, and right hand man to Jeremy Irons' Mage Profion in Dungeons & Dragons! Look closely, you''ll see it.
I remember seeing Bruce Payne from passenger 57 and Jeff Kober from Buffy, he played a demented vampire, my mom got scared with that episode, changing subject, when are we going to see Exterminator 2? that is really low budget crap with many stories, i found that movie by coincidence because in John Carpenter's words Snake Plissken had a similar fighting style than the Exterminator, i checked and there where 2 movies, the second one just got released in bluray a couple of months ago and i hadn't been able to find it, there wasn't much info on that movie even in the wikipedia and the only copy i got was a damaged file from a vhs rip, then i found the movie and i loved it! somebody even updated the wikipedia page so if you happen to come across it check it out :)
I am binge watching you videos for three days. Absolutely fantastic. Are you planning to do video about No Retreat, No Surrender? I don't know about other countries, but it has some cult following in Germany.
Wow, they went all the way to South Korea to shoot the scene with the experimental gun. 2nd Infantry Division was my old division back when I was a soldier. This film must have had a pretty big budget.
Have you seen Only the strong. That would be a good movie to review. I always liked that movie a lot and its like nobodys seen it besides me and my friends.
myself and some high school buddies must have watched this movie 100 times and would quote it endlessly. it's great to see others appreciating it (and noticing the 'have sex' on savak's to do list).
I've never seen such a massive disparity in the quality of a director's movies in the sci-fi realm as I did from Equilibrium to Ultraviolet. Equilibrium was INCREDIBLE and Ultraviolet was a nigh unwatchable piece of shit. lol
Seriously, I can not wait to see the Exploring piece on Ultraviolet to explain how it is possible that the same writer/director who did Equilibrium, one of my all-time Favorite movies, did that awful thing. If it could have been something great and the studios screwed it into the excruciating mess it was, I may cry.
Dude I love the video. That bad guy came out in that movie which I love so much 'Passenger 57' also a badass movie. Can I make a request? Can you do a review from that movie 'Jennifer's Body'. That movie needs more of a praise. And keep up the good work. 👍

"Its illegal to drive dead" lmao!
Thanks for another awesome review Cecil.
shadowman2192 thanks for watching!
Bruce Payne is the only guy who should play a bad guy in every movie. He's phenomenal.
nimo rivera agreed!
Bruce Payne always knocks it out of the park as the villain.
That experimental military "Dubstep" gun sequence was amazing! Loved it!
Kevin McConnell Thanks! A lot of work went into making that happen (a few bazillion after effects layers) but the end result was worth it.
GoodBadFlicks 100% the dubstep gun was the best thing I've seen on UA-cam all week 😂. On a wider note, love your reviews. Interesting, informative and genuinely very funny. 👏👏

I was going to comment on this before I saw the comment. Its a great element that adds to the entertainment of the video, good work Cecil

"It's illegal to drive dead."
Ho-lee shit that was awesome.
I love love love this movie. Bruce Payne always plays the best bad guys. Him and Micheal Ironside are my favorite villains.
They both also played Highlander villains.
One of Kurt Wimmer's good films like The Recruit, Law Abiding Citizen, Equilibrium, and Salt
Underrated Action Movie I Like Cheesy Action Films Captain America 1990, Firestorm, Street Fighter, Ghost Dog, Trespass 1992, And Maximum Overdrive
The dub step gun was amazing.
WrecklessEating Thanks! :)
Agrees
Epic!!!

***** Payne never disappoints. Even in bad movies he always goes all out.
The bad guy in this movie should be his own meme
This movie was awesome.
"what's with all the hawks"-- Brian Bosworth played professional football for the Seattle Seahawks, a nice little nod to his past :)
Ohhhhhhh, thats pretty cool.
This IS absolutely one fantastic romp from the 90's. So much fun!
"Mikie and the Hawk" sounds like a great buddy cop movie.

Barbayat Bloodwater he was a hero in the Baby Doll Murders and was pretty good but he is better at being bad

What other film could have Mc Hammer, Brian Bosworth and the great Bruce Payne in it
Wahahahaaa, the dubstep gun firing was hilarious!
I know. That should go in all future releases of this film. ;)
Siderite Zackwehdex thanks!
CarrieAnne Betts lol, I agree!
Thanks. I haven't seen this movie since the old days of HBO Thursday Night Prime.

The dubstep gun is my favorite gun ever and you just cemented it with that sequence.
:)
I don't remember ever seeing this episode and I've been watching this channel for five years
Adore this film and I cannot wait for Exploring Ultraviolet.
Kira Lawlet that one is going to be a while, hopefully worth the wait :)

Mecha Godzilla I have been called "The white Morgan Freeman" before lol

Well deserved nickname

he has the unlimited ammo perk^^ just like arnold

Epic Voice Brony also Charles Rane from Passenger 57
BRUCE PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYNE!!!!
Payne makes this movie. In fact I prefer to think of Savak as the main character as he ends up killing most of the other bad guys for Bosworth.
Wow! Hilarious video! Keep up the awesome work!!!
Jimmy Bailey Thanks!
"Have sex" hahahaah

The Dubstep Gun was the Heavy Metal Gun for me. Still a lovely scene
Dat Dubstep gun!
hey Cecil, love your work, will you do something on Equilibrium or Ultra Violet? either exploring or goodbad flicks?
MrSuckeragi Ultraviolet is in the works, Equilibrium sometime in the future
I really liked the dubstep-gun bit. This movie seems sweet. I'm gonna try to hunt it down.
Pitohui thanks!
wow.....this takes me back
To Do List:
Have Sex
Drink Water
Breathe
KILL MARCUS
"How do you like your steak?"
"Bloody."
Just another '57' reasons Payne is amazing as a bad guy ;D
OMG Dan Brown stole the "Casually call the ambulance just before beating someone down" scene for his book "Origin"!!!
Joe from TWD!
Teach 'em boys! Teach 'em all the way!
Good work! ahahaha now I'll definetly need to see this movie!
***** thanks!
Review The Alternate
The ambulance line seems influenced by "A Fistful of Dollars" when Joe tells the undertaker to get 3 coffins ready. Then corrects it to 4.

Murat Samanci Thank you! Yeah, that one is on the list
Damn, the villains in this are cold.
Okay, I had to watch the full film before watching this episode of good bad flicks. An yeah it a great film. I found it on amazon instead
LOLs. "Kalr Savak - Government Official"
Wow, they went all the way to South Korea to shoot the scene with the experimental gun. 2nd Infantry Division was my old division back when I was a soldier. This film must have had a pretty big budget.
Lol That list is the funniest shit ever !
6:20 - 6:38 - MASSIVE LOLOL!!
***** I'm so happy that turned out as well as it did :)

I never saw this one featuring the Hammer and the Boz

mikey caputo YES! Love that movie, planning on it
myself and some high school buddies must have watched this movie 100 times and would quote it endlessly. it's great to see others appreciating it (and noticing the 'have sex' on savak's to do list).
Hell yes!
Crazy stuff.
Wife calls Savac in his office
"Babe come over, I want you!"
Savac writes down "HAVE SEX"
"I don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about."
I've never seen such a massive disparity in the quality of a director's movies in the sci-fi realm as I did from Equilibrium to Ultraviolet. Equilibrium was INCREDIBLE and Ultraviolet was a nigh unwatchable piece of shit. lol
90% of the problems with Ultraviolet was major studio interference.
GoodBadFlicks I think so because the movie just seemed like a laughably incomprehensible mess.
Right on, Shade.
Seriously, I can not wait to see the Exploring piece on Ultraviolet to explain how it is possible that the same writer/director who did Equilibrium, one of my all-time Favorite movies, did that awful thing. Shade Draws I really like Ultraviolet. For me, it's one of those "so bad, it's good".
6:30 is my new fav GBF moment.
Dude I love the video. That bad guy came out in that movie which I love so much 'Passenger 57' also a badass movie. Can I make a request? Can you do a review from that movie 'Jennifer's Body'. That movie needs more of a praise. And keep up the good work. 👍
Orlando Morales Thanks! I need to go back and give Jennifer's body another chance. I didn't like it the first time.
Dear God in heaven I need to see this movie.
Awesome review! When we getting the ultra violent exploring episode????
Bosworth outdoing Seagal with the old cinema Aikido. I may have to watch this.
Hey I think I seen this movie I remember that scene with him trying too find the killer by identifying the tattoo wow cool but weird flashback
ha resident evil reference.

Morgan Hanson yep, I'm sure I'll get to them eventually ^^

James alexander Thanks! Love those guys!
I don't know how you feel about Christian movies, but I would recommend the Revelation Road movies. Post-apocalyptic, outlaw biker gang, gunfights, Mad Max like action, it has a lot going for it.
The Moonlight Sonata door opening thing was that a reference to the first Resident Evil? I swear it was...
MrWesker indeed it was
Nice Resident Evil reference :)
David Fakler thanks!
Lol did you know M.C. Hammer was apparently a savage in those streets? and is a legit gangster apparently lol 🤷♂️ who knew lol
You should totally check out Torrente, on Netflix. It's a Spanish comedy (which has a bunch of sequels) that is definitely up your alley.
gorcrow will do
Is it REALLY illegal to drive dead?
damn this is awesome
