Sam checks out the 25mm f1.4 C-Mount Lens. Will it live up to similar C-Mount lenses?

Great points about when to use it. Like when someone's hallucinating etc

I have this lens also. I paid 13.90 USD or @ 9.90 GBP. It is quirky. BUT, I've learned to use my equipment "situationally". Nice vid. Thanks bro.

Adapters are dirt cheap for only 2-3 bucks. Buy lots of adapters and lenses you like and just use red locktite on the thread. Worked perfectly for me! No unscrewing lenses for me anymore.

Heyyyyyy I know this is way after your original video post… but I’m messing with the 25mm, 35mm, and 50mm versions of this lens, and I figured out the filter size. The 25mm filter size is 30mm, the 35mm and 50mm size is 35mm. I’m using step up rings to get them to 37mm, and then I use a 37mm variable ND. These are annoying to use… but I love the image quality, so dreamy

I'm guessing they have the near/far thing and not the markings because they were originally meant for security guards and cctv mounting technicians, not for photographers? Anyway, they seem cool and quirky and nice to have around if you need a more expressionistic shot in a film and I'm trying very hard to pick between 25/35/50 mm and not get all three :))

Hi, not all cctv lens produce enough image circle size to cover m4/3 sensor size with good definition. My hypothesis for tiny lenses (c, cs mount, m12 mount, bridge camera lenses) is that the shorter focal distance, the less image sensor size!

Machine vision/CCTV lenses are designed for specific sensor sizes. I have a whole lineup of Fujinon lenses that can cover a 1” (16mm diagonal) sensor, the shortest is an 8mm lens. At 240 grams it is by no means my smallest lens!

Honesty- shots taken with your super sharp great lens are so normal and boring, while those taken with 25mm are natural and I don’t know- better?
Thanks for video. Im buying 25mm lens for sure

Hey, don't bother with filters with these, I've got some adapters and none of them worked for either of them. The flares they produce is amazing. Also, explore a bit with the aperture and the position from the light source. They're interesting enough with lower f-stops. And the 50mm is interesting too.

How's the vignetting on this one? I have a similar 25mm 1.4 but the vignetting is so bad it's unusable. This one doesn't look too bad.

C-mount lenses are made for different sensor sizes. On m4/3 (21.6mm diagonal), a lens made for a 1/2.3” sensor (7.87mm diagonal) is going to vignette significantly more than a lens made for a 1” sensor (16mm diagonal).
The tricky part is that C mount lenses are almost never marked for sensor size, so you’ll need to track down a data sheet for the lens before buying to be sure.

In what way is it horrible? Does it look broken or just not to your taste?

hey man! sorry for commenting on such an old video but do you have any idea why my c mount lens (25mm f1.9) on a nikon D810, it looks like a macro lens?
