The noise texture to emulate cloud shadows on the ground is brilliant. 99.9 percent of gamers would never think to look up to see of the clouds are really obscuring the background.
im that 00.1% who didn't get fooled. I saw cloud shadow first thing i did was look up and saw the sun stare at me directly and was actually pissed off because how lame it looked and cheap.
I thought it was advanced cloud system but found out it was just another lame trick.
Gamers are consumers 🙂 it only requires money
@@sermerlin1 what game ? Why was your expectation high?
@@bluedark7724 I think first game was battlefield 3 where I saw the shadows on the ground but then when I looked at the sky I saw a clear sky around the sun and was pissed off.
Genshin impact was another one and there were quite more of them I can't remember the names now. I play fuck ton of games.
My expectations are always high.
i played zelda breath of the wild recently and i was impressed by the cloud shadow on the ground so i looked up at the sun to check, and it was actually blocked by a cloud, that was epic
I would like to mention Sky: Children of the Light that has impressive volumetric cloud technology that can create huge volumetric clouds while runs smoothly on mobile phones
YES!! YESS!!!!
Except the game sucks lmao
YESSS I was so damn surprised of how well it ran in my phone!
Gravity Rush 2 has some nice clouds as well, and you can fly directly to them. Too bad that game uses baked lighting to give the particular aesthetic flavor of each region.
I haven't played the game, but in screenshots it looks more like they're using meshes with a fancy shader (kind of like the sea of thieves clouds mentioned in the video). The clouds are still really impressive though, they made the shader look really good.
For me Red Dead Redemption 2 has some crazy clouds. The rain actually is where the clouds are. Like in real life..Like if it's raining in one little part of the map but you run a couple steps where that little blob of dark clouds are not then it's not raining there until the cloud reaches that spot...I was blown away when I first play RDR2 when It came out. Gaming is getting so advanced as we go through the years I absolutely love it
the graphics cult are preaching again.....
Yeah it's so weird he didn't even mention that in video
And horse scrotum.
@@kidnamedfinger2502 its not, its just a very scripted mission game, not much inovative on teh gampelay just graphics.
I didn't even knew it works like that in real life, until I actually run away from the rain until I wasn't under the cloud.
You can actually find the most impressive volumetric clouds in Microsoft Flight Simulator
Well I would say start citizen has the best cloud's you can even the the moisture at the windows
MSFS clouds are really beautiful but IMO they need to be a bit more sharp
ok
Star Citizen Clouds Def
@@JupiterCrusher of curse you are
it's crazy how much of current age graphics already existed in crysis. volumetric clouds were only one of the many things that blew me away back in the day.
Maximum Volume
"So yea, clouds are pretty coo-"
There was this other technique I saw in one of Joe Garths vids.
You place a cloud texture and a plane and make the plane fade when it intersects with geometry.
As a videogame devloger (if that's even a word) I LOVE this channel, it's good for cool ideas and easier picturing of the in-game asset creation
Xenoblade 2 has some pretty fluffy clouds given the switch hardware. They’re used everywhere, because the sea is made of them.
Sea of Thieves is an artistic masterpiece. I feel like Rare doesn't get the respect it deserves.
It looks good but if gameplay sucks then it's failed as a game
You cant even see the sky in my game but you made me want to add clouds
It is not hard actually if you are using Unity shadergraph.
Meanwhile minecraft is dominating the cloud game with actual clouds you can see, go through and see shadows for.
One of my favourite vol. clouds technique is in the game called Miasmata. That indie game has better lighting and cloud visuals (the terrain lighting is real time casted by the sun and the clouds can really make shadows) than a lots of AAA games, and it's and old game.
Love these videos of how things are made or work
Loved this video! Very informative and taught me something I had no idea was so cool! Top tier quality and engagement!
I love this type of content, I'm a non-gamer (sadly XD) doing some basic work in Unreal Engine, it helps me understand the reasoning behind some of the things you need to go thru in game engines. Thanks!
IDFK's clouds gotta be the most realistic, charp yet fluffy; fully volumetric & best of all, full accurate shadow calculation on land
I'm feeling that Apex example. Looks gorgeous and is performant.
Love these short tech explenations
Amazing work :)
Thanks !
I grew up in central Florida and my absolute favorite part of Florida were the thunder storm clouds. I've always dreamed of technology advancing to the point to be able to replicate them and I feel like we're getting fairly close!
This vid are so easy to digest i love it
Clouds have become my favorite part of a game.
Anyone else ever noticed just how amazing the sky and clouds look in dyig light 2?
What a great video - concise, interesting, pretty, current, at the perfect level of accessibility. Thank you very much! I wish i wasn't a subscriber so I could subscribe.
Horizon Forbidden West's clouds look more real than real life clouds
Doesnt that make them unreal again though?
Love this video! I would like to add that maybe Genshin also uses SDF to create clouds except for noise mapping.
this is the best video ive ever seen
No Man's Sky has great volumetric clouds for anyone interested 👌
the translucent plane for cloud shadows in a really good idea but nothing else in this video helped me with my project . i needed to know how optimized clouds are being used in AAA games such as rdr2
After MSFS, Rdr2 is another game i can think of with some impressive volumetric clouds
Shadergraph tutorial on Sea of Thiefs like clouds would be great.
I would love to learn how to do a stylized skybox
this made me wanna make a video of me looking at clouds in different games
very cool
Yeah when I first realized that rdr2 uses realtime volumetric clouds, I was blown away. Hadn't seen that before, totally worth the 3.5K I paid for my pc 😂
1:55 but some games does use real cloud shadows, depends on the game acctualy games that does this usually use volumetric clouds.
I kid you not I was thinking of this just a few hours ago before UA-cam recommended it to me
This is one of those videos where I'm like "oh that's cool, I should watch this", and then I get to watching the first 10 seconds and I don't understand why I even clicked on the video, I don't care at all.
Still love these videos
Hey,really like ur video Im a new subscriber..I have a question...when you created a game..where do you get music or sound for your game?
Thought you meant clouds as in cloud computing but this was still an enjoyable watch lmao
I'm certain we had volumetric clouds mod's for Skyrim way back in 2013-14. It was really amazing.
I wonder how old this method is?
The map in Skyrim is actually you looking down from far above the playfield. If there's a dragon flaming when you go into the map, you can see the flame on the map. I'm pretty sure Skyrim has had some sort of volumetric clouds since release.
Subbed more video plz, love you
oh cool someone who actually knows what they're talking about. i'm tired of people saying genshin's ugly simple clouds are volumetric.
i mean, the game DOES have volumetric clouds, but they're all inside domains... and usually on the floor
POINT, ITS CALLED STORM POINT 0:58
Star Citizen may have a lot of things to hate on, but I can't hate on their cloud tech. It's kind of insane how they've managed to get planet sized volumetric clouds working!
Enjoyable
Even clouds in the sky are interactive
What about a flat piece of mesh with a cloud painted on? Wouldn't opaque part of the cloud obscure the light coming from the "sun" and cast a shadow?
Star Citizen has incredibly advanced cloud technology as well. The are very impressive to see in action but VERY resource intensive.
Warthunder gots cool clouds
gta sa have skybox too, but mods, its beautiful too for 2004 games
I think it's time to do an update on how arcane was made
Missed opportunity to make a Final Fantasy pun in the first 10 seconds
How Destruction works in video games?(especially in CONTROL)
Boolean operators
@@WolfpackOne i don't think it is used in destruction
I use blender's cell fracture to make destructible pieces. That's one method but, it's not limited to just that, there would be much more methods
0:59 it's storm point
How about the clouds in MS Flight sim latest one?
what is the song? It was stuck in my mind
Kind of crazy that you can even get fully functioning volumetric clouds in Minecraft using shaders
Waiting for the "top 10 clouds" video
Although I don’t know much about 3D art, I wanted to know is it possible yet to make clouds that change over time (similar to Sea of Thieves or Sky Children of Light), but look toon/anime-like, similar to Genshin Impact!
Anything is possible if you believe in yourself!
yes, a shader can be used for this
clouds in RDR2 is fucking awesome
Thank you so much sir I co up with one Nice tutorialt wonders in my sleep and can't even make a soft.... No I did not
Would be interested in seeing one of these videos covering the clouds in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Imo the best ones so far are the ones from Red Dead Redemption 2.
In Minecraft, we have square clouds
Sky: Children of light has one the most interactive cloud rendering in Video games
What about the mobile game sky children of light it deals a lot with the interaction with clouds through the map
Not related to clouds sorry, but I put my first hand painted asset in Unreal and it looks like shit, most of the videos I saw were center around creating the asset and not integrating it in to the engine. Does someone have some video recommendation of how to set your materials for hand painted assets in Unreal.
Teach us flow maps senpai.
0:57 *storm point
0:51 which game is this
Whats the game at 1:30
🆒
Sky on Android has some seriously impressive clouds.
Red Dead Redemption 2, Microsoft Flight Simulator and Cyberpunk 2077 have one of the best volumetric clouds
Among many other technological achievements, Star Citizen has a *gas giant bigger than actual Earth,* the whole planet is volumetric clouds!
Random video of it: ua-cam.com/video/kN4DoIXGCyc/v-deo.html
Are No Man's Sky's clouds volumetric?
Try Mad Max
meanwhile im here stuck at minecraft blocky clouds
No Man’s Sky clouds.
i never got tricked by the genshin clouds lmaooo bcs i knew breath of the wild had a weather system with this realistic clouds and it was projected into the ground, so when i got to play genshin i observed if the shadows on the ground were being projected by the ones in the sky and THEY WERE NOT
but hey, if you know your genshin lore, the sky is canonically fake 😏😏😏😏
Look up Star Citizen clouds, really impressive, they have a fully volumetric gas giant in the game.
Anyone else craving cotton candy?
Storm Point, not Front
🥧
i don't get a **** but nice video
Or just insert a "clouds" into the workspace and everything is done for you
its stormpoint not stormfront
But what is Cloud Gaming?
Ok so this isn't a FFVII video, not that kind of "cloud". Got it, great video tho.
then there's minecraft
why is there so much hate for genshin inpact it's a fine game
Then there's soft soft ruining the content for my new
please stop adding chemtrails into video games
This guy gotta mention genshin impact in every video huh?
hey can you please try out the Horizon forbidden west DLC: Burning shores, and maybe do an analysis? I would love to hear your thoughts, thank you.
