Question - if I want to upgrade my SD2Vita micro-sd card with existing files and then have free space for other things, is it just a matter of buying a bigger micro-SD card and then copying existing data across?
@@wilsonjonah you didn't have problems with storage? as far as I can tell, any SD card above 128 gb will have storage problems. With mine for example, instead of 100 free gb, it said I had only 13 free gb.

Good video which is easy to follow. However, it's a mistake to suggest leaving allocation size to default. That might work on smaller micro SD cards but it will not work on bigger ones. I followed this video to upgrade from a 256 to a 400 and it didn't work (Vita showed 0 free space on new card even though everything worked fine). This was due to leaving allocation size to default. It needs setting to 64kb so the vita will read the capacity correctly and show correct free space.
Just make sure that the 64kb allocation size is only applicable for 256 gb+ sd cards not 128 gb below. People might think that you're saying that "smaller SD cards" are just 8, 16, 32, 64gb etc. which is correct, but I'm just saving people from doing small mistakes by telling them to just leave the default allocation size from 16-128gb sd cards. 128gb sd card still applies for the default allocation size.

I’ll definitely have to keep this video in mind when I decide to upgrade my SD2Vita. Before this video I had purchased an SD2Vita from amazon for 10 bucks about a week ago as I decided to finally hack my PS Vita in hopes of getting use from it. I had this Vita for 4 years and wasn’t about to let it got to waste by expensive memory sticks. So far thanks to this SD2Vita I was able to upgrade up to 16GB and could put games like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Monster Hunter, Castlevania, and more thanks to PSP and PS1 Roms ( ISOs / Eboots ). However, I hope to get more storage soon so I can delve deeper into the hacking scene on the vita.
Just an advice, in vitashell, you should select which would be opened in pc. If you have another microsd in your vita, you have to select sd2vita in vitashell so the one in your gamecard would be copied
Hey everyone, I wanted to confirm and let you know this works. But with extra steps. You need to go to storage devices, put UxO to memory card(for ps vita 1000) or put it to Internal(for ps vita 2000 that used internal) then put umao to s2Vita. After this is done turn off ps vita. Take out the s2vita and put your new bigger micro SD in(make sure it’s empty, you can put it in straight out of the box. ) I did not format my memory card on the computer. I simply did it in the Ps vita, in vita deploy. Miscellaneous, then format memory. Just like you did the first time to your old one. Once formatted I put both micro sd cards in the computer to copy my old files over onto it. In my case I couldn't use the PS vita cable to connect to PC. It always showed my ps vita as empty. Even with hidden folders and hidden program unchecked. So what i did was took the micro SD card out. And put both my micro SD cards in my computer one to a sd reader and the other to micro sd reader . Did the copy. But this is where my problem started. Once you put the new micro SD into the S2Vita and boot up. Go to vitashell and make sure you see your new memory. It will be under the uxo and umao name. Once you see it there. Go back to settings. Then storage device. After that switch it back to how it originally was. Uxo-S2Vita and umao -memory card(for ps vita 1000, put internal if you are using ps vita 2000 with no memory card) after this it will show the memory on the settings…. but none of my apps or games were there. Everything gone besides vitashell and vita deploy. I rebooted multiple times. Nothing. What fixed my issue was going into Vitashell. Click the Triangle button. Then click refresh live area. After that it loaded all my ps vita and psp games: hopefully this helps.
Hi, I did exactly this and what others said about allocation size. The issue I have is that when I copy all files, all hidden ones and OP ones, the copied files are just a bit smaller than the "used space" in the original SD. Maybe by 0.4 gb or something. And when I load the Vita with it, It's as if I just turned on a new Vita. There are only the generic apps. I still see the Henkaku menu under settings, but it seems that Vita does not recognize my new SD. It thinks nothing is inserted (that's what it says when I click "unlink memory card"). Any help please~
Awesome friend, thank you, I hacked my Vita the other day with a 32g MicroSD card while waiting for my 512g to arrive. This solves my issue on switching over...thank you.
I am having misread issues with my 256GB card. On my Vita it says it's full but on my PC it says it has 90GB free. I saw a guy on reddit say that 200GB+ cards need to have a 64kb not default. I'm trying that now
Thank you, this worked for me in 2024. I downgraded from a 256 to a 64 because the 256gb was overkill. I followed the exact steps except I added one step, I also unchecked the "Hide protected operating system files" remember to check it once finished.
Dumb question here. Can I use "" instead? (Where A is the source drive and B is the Destination) Your instructions are dope, very easy to follow. Thank yoU!
Just a question regarding of the workflow. Why should I write an image to my SD Card when I format it afterwards to exfat? Don't see why I should do this. And secondly. Would it not be faster (and more save as what I read the vita is not known for error free file operations) to use a second SD adapter for your PC and simply copy from USB to USB. This way you would also get a faster transfer speed.
If you using an SD card bigger than 128GB, you have to set the allocation size to 64kb cluster size. AND you have to uncheck "hide protected operating files (recommended)" too. And then you copy all things but "System Volume Information" folder. And THEN it will work. The video is incomplete and I lost 2 hours of copying because of that.
Thank you so much for this guide , now i will be able to download more game to my psvita . I don't know what's more to say so thank again man . For everyone new to hacking ground , i can confirm this still work as long as you follow his step by step
For me me in order to view those hidden files I had to go to >view >options >view Then “Uncheck” the box that says “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)”. And then click apply and then OK and then my hidden files were visible. ALSO: When you are in “Vita shell” press start and Make sure that you are in SD2Vita not game card and USB not FTP. This works perfectly for people that Have some knowledge tinkering with this. Also like the comment I read here below, make sure that when you format the card is 64kb if you are using a 200 / 256 / 400 gigs card or 512
I copied and paste the files to the new sd card. Completely forgot about the hidden folders. But I was only missing the tai folder. This was before tech James released this video. I needed this video couple months ago lol.
Quick Question: I grabbed a 256gb micro sd card and formatted it to 64kb but it fails to load when everything is moved from my 128gb card. Something to note is that 24 items failed to download. Any ideas help
It worked for me. I upgraded from a sandisk 32gb to microdrive 128gb. But i have noticed that the read/write speed is lower. Even the microdrive says it is class 10. When I save the game, it is getting a bit more time. And downloading games online is taking even more time.
Update: The microSD i was using was a crap one. It was a 128gb from aliexpress (¬¬). I got an official Samsung 128gb class 10 and now im downloading games with no problem.
Hey, sorry to Bring this Up lol but my psvita got very slow on installing games and etc after changing the sd too, so i guess the sd im using it is just not worth it 😂
Just wondering, If I got henkaku enso with the molecule. Do I have to reinstall that after I put in the new SD card in the SD to Vita? I'm upgrading 128gb to 256gb.
I have Hidden Files set to Show, and I confirmed that other hidden files ARE showing as expected, but when I look at my Vita's SD card it doesn't appear to have any hidden files at all. Furthermore, when I copy its contents to the new larger card the total file size is definitely smaller than what it should be considering I have a few games installed on the original card. What might be my mistake here?
In the Install plugin for psvita, I chose "MCD (official memory card) ---> ux0 (livearea application), and after that, my psvita rebooted and the memory card was not found. What should I do?" (memory card still works on pc)
Hi man, you have been really helpful so far, thanks! I have a question: As I bought a fake micro SD Card by accident. I would like to install a legit 128GB micro SD card in my SD2Vita instead. As I don’t have access to a windows pc, could I do it as followed. Or do I miss understand something (Jup, big rookie here). Important: I never changed something on my official memory card after jailbreaking the device and installing my SD2Vita as my ux0. So the initially copied files are still on there. 1. Switch in Storage devices - ux0 to Memory Card. Switch uma0 to SD2Vita. 2. Power up the system again. 3. Switch off the system again. Put the new legit SD card in the SD2Vita. 4. Format that new SD card via all the steps you used in the video and repeat the whole process. Please let me know if you think this is the correct way to do so. I’m aware I will loose all my games and safe games which are on my “old” fake SD card this way. But that’s fine. I just don’t wanna loose the essential files for my jailbreak to keep working on my system. Thanks in advance so much for helping out! ❤

I ordered my sd2vita about a month ago. It just arrived now waiting for the sd card. #hyped
Days and days looking the solution and you showed me. Thank you so much. Solved the question of the missing files and errors in vshell
Update I decided to start from scratch because it doesn’t show none of my information for the 256gb
After that it loaded all my ps vita and psp games: hopefully this helps.
thanks again James. your stuff is easy to follow and smooth. now that theyre even cheaper I upgraded my vita with a 128gb!
Teach me my storage is same as you but not working
Hi, I did exactly this and what others said about allocation size. The issue I have is that when I copy all files, all hidden ones and OP ones, the copied files are just a bit smaller than the "used space" in the original SD. Maybe by 0.4 gb or something. And when I load the Vita with it, It's as if I just turned on a new Vita. There are only the generic apps. I still see the Henkaku menu under settings, but it seems that Vita does not recognize my new SD. It thinks nothing is inserted (that's what it says when I click "unlink memory card").
Any help please~
same
U need to untick the box where it says hide protected operating (apply) then OK
Tech James at it again. James you are such an MVP! Appreciate all that you do my man!
OMG James you made the video regardless! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

@Tech James awesome video I upgraded my new one, keep up the good work, and those good videos coming.
This is exactly the video I've been looking for.
I just want to thank you. I've watched many of your videos and you have helped me quite alot! Thank you!
Awesome friend, thank you, I hacked my Vita the other day with a 32g MicroSD card while waiting for my 512g to arrive. This solves my issue on switching over...thank you.
Same here I just hope the new memory card has good speeds.
I am having misread issues with my 256GB card. On my Vita it says it's full but on my PC it says it has 90GB free. I saw a guy on reddit say that 200GB+ cards need to have a 64kb not default. I'm trying that now
I managed to do it as per your explanation. Thanks a lot for your explanation.
Congratulations to have your good channel.
Thank you, this worked for me in 2024. I downgraded from a 256 to a 64 because the 256gb was overkill. I followed the exact steps except I added one step, I also unchecked the "Hide protected operating system files" remember to check it once finished.
ARE U CRAZY BRO, 64GB IS NOT ENOUGH, ILL DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE TO 256.
Thank you so so much dude. Went from 64Gb to 128Gb. On Moduro so I just booted without needing to reinstall CFW.
Dumb question here. Can I use "" instead? (Where A is the source drive and B is the Destination)
Your instructions are dope, very easy to follow. Thank yoU!
Still works in 2024 🙏 thank you!
This video is OUTDATED!!!!!
Also like the comment I read here below, make sure that when you format the card is 64kb if you are using a 200 / 256 / 400 gigs card or 512
worked perfectly, thanks for the clear instruction!
I did this method a few weeks ago to upgrade my 256GB SD card to 512GB .
did it work? i want to upgrade the 64gb to 512gb
Thank you James for all your help!
Dis y u da best James. Vids are fookin' GOAT!

256gb is maximum size for the 1.001 vita model

HELLO THANKS...BUT WE HAVE A PROBLEM.... I RUN A PERMANENT ENSO OR HENKAKU 3.60 in a PSV 1000....STILL WORKS??? PLEASE HELP!?

Tech James, You are the man!
Just wondering, If I got henkaku enso with the molecule. Do I have to reinstall that after I put in the new SD card in the SD to Vita? I'm upgrading 128gb to 256gb.
did u test this out? i wanna upgrade mine but im not sure what will happen to my games on it/ henkaku
@@DuckDiki I just did it and everything works normally just by copying the files. No need to reinstall Henkaku and Molecular.
The same happening to me.
Find fixes?

Gosh I just change to 256. 32 isn't too small for you?
In the Install plugin for psvita, I chose "MCD (official memory card) ---> ux0 (livearea application), and after that, my psvita rebooted and the memory card was not found. What should I do?" (memory card still works on pc)
Worked flawlessly, thank you.
im using a 60 gb to 128 and the download is taking years...

after 2 hours it finished and everything is working great.
how can i restore microsd to normal use after sd2vita setup? i to use that sdcard for my phone ... please need answer
Love all your videos and they all work perfect. Except this one I did the same as the video and doesn’t work. All files say corrupt
always on point as always Tech James! is there a way to accomplish this on a mac?
I literally spent like 2 hours trying to figure out how to do this 3 days ago. I really wish this video existed then lol!!!
Question - if I want to upgrade my SD2Vita micro-sd card with existing files and then have free space for other things, is it just a matter of buying a bigger micro-SD card and then copying existing data across?
@@DungarooTV you have to add the image to the new card, then format the new card, then just move everything off your old card onto the new one.Thats my take on it anyway, will be trying soon..
guys, to show every hidden file on the ps vita go to cmd, put your drive letter press enter and copy this command attrib /s /d -r -s -h wait it to finish and there you go
exemple

E: attrib /s /d -r -s -h
It works on my vita, from 64gb to 128gb upgrade. I used 128kb allocation size on my 128gb sd card upon formatting.
Thank You for this tutorial! really helps!

i have 2 128gb cards and one is currently full. is it possible to use both interchangably without corrupting files?
Vita wouldn't connect but both sd cards in readers worked to transfer.
I hacked my first psp 3000 and became hooked. I bricked the psp 3000 unfortunately but learned a lot from my mistakes. Bought a psvita and hacked it , 256 GB via SD2vita. I actually had to downgrad the cfw to 3.60. I got pretty much everything I want on there , adrenaline, custom theme and music, snes, sega , gameboy advance, nes Cps1 , Cps2 and Neo Geo . A lot of trial and error but plenty of video like these helped, forums, and random commenters with solutions to a lot of issues I ran into..worst case scenario manually reboot and restart your system in case it freezes or has hiccups every now and then. I'm actually looking to hack another psp as a back up . PSP honestly was the easiest device I ever hacked, I hacked it with my android phone via otg cable 🤷
I take it you can downgrade size as well if you wish? great video James :)
how to get my old sdcard working on android after upgrading my sd2vita?
I've tried a few times now but whenever I put in my new card (128GB) the live area is just all the default apps. Am I missing something? I've copied everything over but h-encore, vitashell etc just aren't showing. Swapping back to the old card and everything is good though?
Same thing happening here, haven’t figured it out
@@guillermomartinez582 I'll be honest, I don't think I did anything special to fix it. Just unplugged everything and put it all back in.
Why do the hidden files/folders on my sd card look faded and when I scroll mouse over them they all say folder is empty?
If i have henkaku is permanent (enso) do i still install henkaku & vitashell with h-encore?

if you have a PSVita memory, once you do SD2Vita, are we able to delete stuff in the original PSVita memory? I have a 64gb MC and I would like to get that storage back for backups or other things. Is that possible?
Yes all my saved games go either to my micro SD card or to the built-in memory of the Vita itself and I never have an issue with it and I've never used a Sony official memory card. You could probably sell that bad boy. Get a pretty penny.
Thanks brovvvv
I just upgraded to to 64gig successfully
Thanks again
Thanks for this video, although I'm not going to upgrade my microSD I'm thinking of swapping between two 256gb, since I'm too cheap to buy a 512gb prices right now. So I'm just going to delete the contents of apps on my second microSD
Hey Chris, did it work out?? I was going to upgrade my SD to a 256. Curious
@@ppoblete2280 yes it did, good luck
Where do you get the zzzblankimage ?
I was up late last night upgrading my 256gb to a 400gb. Any card larger than 128gb needs to have the Allocation Unit Size set to 64kb when formatting or the vita will not see the free space.
Techjames should include this in his video or description as it could save someone hours of work/frustration
Literally had this problem 2 days ago, had to Google the problem, now works fine with 64kb allocation
This still does not work for me and my 256gb sd card
Also the 256gb SD card I got has exfat as default that seems kinda weird to me
If you are following the video and used the 64kb allocation, I'm stumped. All that happened when I didn't do that was about 40gb didn't show up on my sd2vita. If there's another problem, im not sure
I’ve followed every part step by step and it doesn’t work for me. I’m upgrading from 64 to 256.
thanks for info . is it possible to have multiple sd2vita cards and swap them as needed. if so how will it affect the bubbles display ?
what if i have enso autobooting the CFW? i can just swap it like in the video?
so I followed everything, upgraded from 128 to 265. followed everything then copied my files
everything transferred perfectly but now I get the "The file is corrupt" when launching Apps and the "0xFFFFFFFE error" when installing

I ran into the same problem. Some people say in the comments that when formatting the micro sd card, make sure you set allocation to 64kb for 256gb cards and up. Currently I'm doing that and transferring from original 128gb card to 256gb card, we'll see how that goes.
Will it transfer save files ?
