Fall for me too, maybe not the first time they did it,since he chocked on the lyrics (Its very emotional thats also a reason why) since its the whole other side of them
“Life is dark. Life is bright. Life is ugly. Life is beautiful. Don’t get lost in genres, they’ll only disorientate you. Music is for everyone.” -Vessel 2017
PLEASE do more Sleep Token. I really enjoyed your reaction and knowledgeable breakdown of this live performance. Yes, they are completely anonymous. Vessel and II, the drummer, are such talented musicians. To my knowledge, Vessel writes everything- guitar, piano, bass, lyrics- and II writes all of the drum parts. II won THREE Drumeo awards this year. Our favorite octopus drumming god. His Drumeo interview/videos are an absolute treat, I hope you dive into them sometime. I'm instantly subbed to your channel. I'm here for it. They're really difficult to put into one genre. They don't make bad music, each song is a unique experience. Take the Sleep Token journey, we will all show up for every video. Worship 🫶🏻✨️
We saw them last year and they did Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah and EVERYONE was in tears. If you have never stood in a room full of crying metal fans I highly recommend it.
“Atlantic” is insanely emotive for me. I can feel and hear Vessel breaking in that song. Also love: “Jaws”, “Blood Sport” and “The Love You Want.” There’s so many amazing songs. Do them all!
First of all, thank you. We Sleep Token fans are a loyal bunch, and will be very happy to find you! Second, you mentioned a rabbit hole. In case you don’t already know all this : Vessel and II (the drummer) write all music together. Vessel does all vocals, and all instruments other than drums for the recordings. They tour with III (Bassist) and IV(Guitarist), as well as Espera, a female trio who perform backing vocals (the three robed figures in the back of this video). II, the drummer, was the Drumeo Drummer of the year 2023. He and Vessel are both credited for all writing. The discography begins with ep One, then ep Two. There are some singles, including Jaws, and a few covers. Then the albums, which are a trilogy, begin with Sundowning, then This Place Will Become Your Tomb, and finally Take Me Back To Eden. Finally, the concerts are rituals, and Vessel never speaks to the audience. Worship!🖤
First of all; awesome video. Thank you so much for checking out and reacting to a live performance of them. Super rad. Some answers to your questions. The band wishes to remain anonymous. They don't talk about their identities, and the community of fans try not to, either. Vessel has done one written interview in the 8 years they've been a band, and it was super early on. Vessel is credited for writing and performing all of the music & instruments besides the drums on this album. Their drummer is extremely talented, and he's the only member of the band to have done a live interview; it was on the UA-cam channel Drumeo, and he breaks down his drumming. Super cool. Finally, there's an AMAZING live recording of their song "vore" by a channel called "frontrowconcerts" that is very much worth checking out- as well as their song "levitate" from the room below.
What Sleep Token song to react to next: yes. You can’t go wrong with any of them. Their entire discography tells a story starting at the beginning with Thread The Needle and going all the way to Euclid. Some people do know who they are, but most respect their wishes to remain anonymous and don’t know their names or what they look like. You’re right about it being a rabbit hole, and it’s the best one. Loved your analysis of his voice. Can’t wait to see more Sleep Token!
I've been searching for a new reaction channel that's reacting to Sleep Token. I think I've seen every other reaction channel that's reacted to Sleep Token already. And I've truly missed living vicariously through someone who knows music and appreciates the incredible talents of the young men known as Sleep Token. So I have subscribed and turned on the all notifications bell to make sure I don't miss a single Sleep Token reaction from you. Because I like the fact that you are so knowledgeable about music. So much so that you teach it for a living. And I like that you catch a lot of the little things, the nuances if you will, that a lot of other people don't catch. I'm really looking forward to watching your Sleep Token journey from the first EP to the end of Euclid. I just have one piece of advice for you. Buckle up and prepare yourself for an amazingly crazy emotional rollercoaster of a ride. But don't worry Sleep Token fans are very dedicated and absolutely love supporting those that choose to react to Sleep Token. Can't wait for your next Sleep Token video. Much Peace and Love to you and yours. And to all that read this. 🙏💕✌️
Really appreciate this message Michelle thanks so much! Just know that I do react to a lot of other artists almost every day so don’t get annoyed if you’re notifications ding a few other artists before I get to sleep token again. I’ll probably do another one later next week. 🙌🏼🔥🖤
At there concerts, no one in the band speaks, it’s just music. Unfortunately, their identities have been revealed. A lot of fans (me included) choose to respect the art and their choice to be anonymous. I’m glad that you have finally discovered this amazing band. You mentioned the fact they include multiple genres. Once you really hear their other songs you’ll realize that there is no genre to put them in, they are just Sleep Token. 😊
Sometimes III (bass) yells at the crowd and it's hilarious. Fans often refer to him as the "chaos ballerina" because of his stage antics. At one concert II (drummer) tossed lemons into the crowd after a show. So random. Also, IV (guitarist, backup harsh vocals) went onstage with Olli Sykes and Bring Me the Horizon for Antivist.
Literally do any sleep token song!!!! I really need a vocal coach to specifically do a very early song from them “Calcutta” because his high notes in that are just so very good and I need someone to explain it 😁
I would definitely like to hear your reactions and thoughts on the studio version. I know you've done some prog and electronic-inspired music. I think your perspective on the proggy nature of the studio version would be really interesting.
In studio, it is only Vessel and II the drummer. Vessel is a multi instrumentalist. That’s in no way meant to discount III (bass) and IV(guitar) they are members and absolutely crush it. Yes Vessel, II, III, and IV are 100% anonymous. I believe their identities have been leaked l but they are still not public. The backup singers are called The Espera. They are public with their identities. Sleep token isn’t the only project they work with but they add soooo much to the live performance.
This is so cool! I've never heard of these guys. (Rabbit hole time) So much fun to hear you break this down. For someone like me, who is a Dear, a Renegade, a Collier addict, and listens to everything from classical to metal, to the most out there music, your channel is such a joy! There is so much to look forward to watching you do!
also for the studio versions, its ALL vessel and II (the drummer) Vessel writes lyrics, composes, does vocals, produces and plays all the instruments except the drums which is always II. The others just join for live performances. The albums tell this epic story - and if I can give you any advice in your rabbit hole is listen to it start to finish but especially leave Euclid for the end because its an INSANE good song on its own but if you hear it at the end of the trilogy it will heal something in you XD
Hey Tim, Great video and analysis, you have earned my subscription! A few things on sleep token; the band members are Vessel (singer), II (drummer), III ( bassist) and IV or Ivy (guitarist) and the backing singers are a trio called Espera. Vessel writes and records everything himself bar the drums which are written and recorded by II. In a live setting IV screams too ( his scream is louder and more guttural). Sleep Token haven’t de masked officially but you can find out who they are pretty easily, but out of respect for the band and fans who don’t want to know who they are we don’t discuss identities. For song recommendations I’d suggest Take me back to Eden, Ascensionism and Bloodsport (from the room below). For live music recommendations I’d suggest checking out Vore, missing limbs, Vessels cover of Hallelujah from the room below and the offering. I look forward to following your sleep token journey and keep up the great work!
This is not the clearest version of the vocals but great to hear the crowd support. Try Euclid or Take Me Back To Eden or Atlantic or Telomeres or Chokehold. Great crossover in listeners between Lorna Shore and Sleep Token. Lorna Shore will challenge you in terms of vocal technique....it might not be what you think when you first hear it but it's a mind expanding journey.
Vessel sounds kinda winded as well lol, but it isn't effecting his vocals as much. Just barely slightly less cursivey and as fully wind powered. But absolutely worth the price of him dancing and bouncing and pacing around the stage.
Saw them live for the first time back in May in Chicago and when I tell you there's no live video (at least any I've seen) that does justice to just HOW amazing and clean they sound live. Even the videos I took... nothing compares to hearing Espera and Vessel singing.
ii, the drummer did an episode with Drumeo you should check out. He's next level. I've watched a lot of drummers react to that video and they are all floored. Vessel writes all the lyrics and music, except for drums.
Not going to take anything away from Vessels ability at all, but Vessel IV, the guitarist does the loud part of the screaming and allows Vessel to finish a section before joining in. Vessel is a lot quieter with it. You can tell the difference with the quieter scream on the second round. They are amazing live and I’m fortunate to be seeing them for the 5th time in November.
hi there, just a little guide here 2:35 here and 2:45 here have some difference between them for 2:35 is IV screams while 2:45 is Vessel's scream, you can here the difference vessel's does the screams both for the studio and live while IV does the screams only for live vessel has airy, low and smooth screams while IV has deeper, rougher and louder screams
Renegade reporting for extracurricular duties 🫡 You got me, Tim! Now I'm in it for ALL the reactions! Another great one, thank you 🫶 Enjoying these so much 👍
Hell yeah! I was the new subscriber that asked on your last video. You won’t be disappointed with them. I’ve been listening to their song Take Me Back To Eden for months on end and not sick of the song at all. Descending and Atlantic are the two on repeat right now
“This is emotional and angsty and emotional”… oh just you wait buddy 😅 please do more! We will be here- songs from the room below (blood sport)may be a nice place to go for some really cool vocal demonstration! And also tears
The scream at 23:59 is mainly the guitarist, IV. He does a few screams on the live songs such as Vore as well. He and the bassist, III, aren’t on the studio versions though.
Yaaaaaayyyyyy!!! I'm so excited that you did ST! It looks like other fans have filled you in on the deets. I'm looking forward to your reaction to the studio version of this one, and I'll echo other recommendations for Bloodsport (from the room below version). My personal favorites from them are Jaws and Atlantic, but you really can't go wrong. They're amazing. Worship!
Just wait until you realize the whole project is based on Jungian principles/philosophy. Lol. Please do more Sleep Token! Their talent and Vessel's voice is fascinating! -Bloodsport-from the room below -Ascensionism -Chokehold -Vessel's cover of Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody -Atlantic -Missing Limbs -Give -The Offering
Here to Worship ❤ There's a fantastic live version from the same channel (FirstRowConcerts) of about seven more songs. Would suggest the Hypnosis or Vore live versions next.
Love this analysis and all the detail you shared. Thank you! Please do more songs from them! Re: the harsh vocals in this song, IV (the guitarist) does them live.
Welcome to the fold, my friend. I know this sounds dramatic but truly your life will never be the same. It's not just music, it is something so much more. I hope you give yourself the pleasure of continuing down this road. "The Night Does Not Belong to God", "Dark Signs", "Missing Limbs", The Apparition", "Take Me Back to Eden", "Ascensionism".. honestly just start at the beginning with Sundowning. Don’t need to react to them all but 100% react to TMBTE & Ascensionism, pretty sure those songs changed me.
It's been brilliant hearing a different vocal coach's take on Sleep Token. If you want to hear a couple of other tracks where Vessel uses vocal distortion, have a listen to "Gods" on their first album, "Sundowning" and "Vore", from their most recent "Take Me Back To Eden". Most of their tracks have extremely emotive lyrics and for these I would recommend listening to both their EPs, "One" and "Two", especially "Fields Of Elation" on "One" (my personal favourite) and "Calcutta" and "Nazareth" on "Two", then try "The Way That You Were" (with the music video for effect - a lot of their songs don't have music videos in the traditional sense of the word, but this one does). I won't suggest any more from their albums (they have released three full studio albums so far) because you really need to listen to them all in the order they were released - "Sundowning", "This Place Will Become Your Tomb" and "Take Me Back To Eden" - you need them all to get the full story, as it were and a sense of completeness. I can just about guarantee you that by the time you're coming to the end of the tracks on Eden that you will not want them to end. All of their music really is that good! ❣WORSHIP❣
@@TimWelchVocalStudio You're most welcome. It's quite the aural journey. I only came across them a couple of months ago myself, but their music feels like it's been a part of my whole life now and I wouldn't have it any other way. My tastes are diverse, but I didn't diversify away from "mainstream" music until about 1987 and until that point I sort of went along with what my schoolfriends were into. The extent of what I'd heard musically up until then was what my parents played at home (think Jim Reeves, Mario Lanza, Harry Seacombe, Scottish regimental pipes and drums, etc.) and it was thanks to my first boyfriend that I started to listen to anything else but the pop that got played on local radio - he was a huge fan of Iron Maiden and Def Leppard - then things went on from there. It's only really since the few tracks on the Sleep Token albums that contain vocal fry/distortion that I've been able to listen to that at all and it's still a bit of a teeth-on-the-edge thing for me, so I don't think I could listen comfortably to any bands where that was the majority of their repertoire. I really hope you enjoy your Sleep Token journey as much as I have. They're really addictive, if they're your cup of tea (but I can appreciate that not everyone will love them).
I personally do prefer live reactions over studio reactions because anybody can make themselves sound amazing in the studio. Life performances showcase their true talent although I do think it’s a good idea obviously to hear the studio version as well
Hahahah loved the drum solo reaction! That's not on the studio version - ii only does that live. We'd be glad to have you in the community! ST is phenomenal - when I first got into them, it was literally all I listened to for a few months straight. I grew up a drummer, and have always automatically separated drums from everything else the first few times listening to any music I hear, but I found myself listening very intently to the vocals immediately when I listened to ST. One second he's singing a soft, emotional ballad, then two verses later he's rapping. I love how diverse they are, and I hope you will too, Tim! Definitely subbing to your channel in hopes you'll do more ST!
I'm so glad that you chose to watch a live version. That way you get to see vessel do his dancing dance and play piano. One of the things that makes sleep token so special is that their albums are expertly produced and sound magnificent but when you go to see them live play they sound just as good. With the three beautiful backup ladies and the full sound it's just like another experience of the same perfectly produced song that you heard on the album.
Another Sleep Token fan subscribed. I enjoy watching people discover each song for the first time, but your ability to add to the depth of the appreciation with the knowledge of the vocal skill and complexity is fantastic. Also, thank you so much for listening to the song in its entirety first to get the full effect before starting your analysis (so many people stop at such awkward times, so that was a lovely difference). I look forward to more videos of you reacting to them--you have quite the adventure ahead! :)
More to come, however stay tuned, I am likely starting a second channel for metal/alternative/rock reactions where my next sleep token reactions will be. i’ll keep you all posted!
Genre-wise, they do multiple, and are not specifically defined themselves. That's why their style is so unique. In the only interview they've ever done, although not in person, Vessel said, "Life is dark. Life is bright. Life is ugly. Life is beautiful. Don’t get lost in genres, they’ll only disorientate you. Music is for everyone."
@@TimWelchVocalStudio Yes, Vessel i who is mostly just called Vessel. The rest are Vessel ii, iii and iv, but just called ii, iii or ivy. Then the 3 ladies that are the backing singers are called Espera. I still haven't done a right deep dive myself yet. I want to wait til I get their records first before I do.
I love the things you've explained with all the different vocal tones Vessel is using. I learned some things today! Sleep Token is my favorite band, and I appreciate the care you've put into this reaction ❤
First of all, thank you so much for this detailled reaction to Sleep Token. Like many of their fans, I have been deeply touched by them since the first song I heard. They helped me getting through a very dark time in my life and attending a ritual made me a worshipper. Please continue this journey 🖤 Worship
Oh my god please do more sleep token reactions! I absolutely love your analysis I also love the fact that you react to the live performance too!!! Amazing
Welcome to the rabbit hole called Sleep Token!!! ST is an absolutely amazing band. The singer Vessel is an absolute genius when it comes to vocal progression and lyrics. Please have the lyrics up when listening to them. I know you are listening to the vocals in general but the lore is a must to understand the reason behind the genre switches and emotion that pours out of the songs. For you, I definitely recommend “Take Me Back to Eden” or “Rain” or “Atlantic”. If you react to ST, fans will follow. I am here for it! Worship!!!!
I love the live reaction. The production on the studio version is amazing, but concert videos are nice for hearing what Vessel is doing. The backing singers are called Espera and they have chosen to reveal their identities. You can find out a little bit about the band if you really want, various algorithms will try to reveal them, but I’m content keeping my knowledge vague.
Loved this video. Can’t wait for the next one. I think their guitarist “IV” was the one doing the distorted screams later in the song in this live. Pretty sweet. Also I was under the impression these were fry screams, though I’m not 100%.
Please do more Sleep Token from the studio versions especially, so many amazing songs, try Hypnosis, Take Me Back to Eden, Bloodsport (live from the Room Below) and Vore, so many!
Fascinating analysis, Tim!! The screaming is done by both Vessel and the lead guitarist (he goes by IV "four") - he's to the right of the stage. It's IV's scream you hear just before the musical switch. I love that you listened to live version. ST are excellent live, and yeah Vessel can riff. It's a bit of a religious experience going to their concert.
So Vessel plays all the instruments on the albums other than the drummer, (ii). The other members are very talented and fun touring members of the band. The 3 albums are seeped in lore, but are really a masked (pun intended) representation of the deep loss at the ending of a toxic relationship (likely his former musical partner). All the albums move through the stages of grief ending with the acceptance in the song Euclid. As for songs to check out, I like Bloodsport (From the Room Below if you want to explore his voice...that version is just him and a piano. Really though....you can't go wrong. Even their worst songs are good. I would stay away from the two EPs because I think more enjoyment is found in them once you are familiar with their later work.
@@TimWelchVocalStudio try the live lafayette concert if you want just him, the piano, backup singers + audience. The Metal Kitty youtube page has the full set ☺️
Sleepy here, and more recently, a RENegade. I wish you'd listened to their studio version rather than a poorly recorded live 😭 They are supremely divine. As a band, as individual musicians, as a concept. So much nuance has been lost here. I really hope you do yourself a favour and look into them properly 💜🖤💜
@@userLaura1986Hello!!! They seem to go hand in hand. I think a lot of people have been waiting for music to have some deeper meaning again. It's been a long time, for me anyway 🥰
always love seeing people react to sleep token for the first time!!! i LOVE your analysis. vessel has such a unique and interesting voice and i love to hear people who are knowledgeable on the subject talk about it. i'm excited to see you react to their other songs!! you really cannot go wrong with anything of theirs, every song is an experience. the offering is one of my personal favorites! i know other people have brought it up already, but if you ever decide to check out covers of theirs, i would LOVE to see an analysis of his performace of hallelujah from 2022. they never officially recorded that cover, which in my opinion is a damn shame. thank you again for your analysis!! i'm excited to see if you'll do more 🤞😁
Sleep Token got me back into singing after not having done it for 15 years 😅. I love his voice so much that I felt like picking it up again. I just learned a lot listening to your reaction / analysis 😊
More more more! You’ve added an another subscriber here coming from a huge huge fan of Sleep Token - WORSHIP! 🖤🤘🏽 - Atlantic -Gods -Vore -Rain Any song really - Jaws.
One thing about the studio version vs the live version is that, that part in the middle where you referenced the synths, the studio version doesn't have that live addition of the drum solo. Also, when Vessel (the singer/frontman) screams just before that part, the guitarist called IV helps/backs up the song with the screams in the live addition, unlike in the studio version. I definitely encourage you to check out the studio version as well, and it's also better heard than in the live video you reacted to. :)
Hard subscribe! I absolutely loved how what you said about the brass part of the voice and the windy part of the voice, that's such a brilliant way of putting it and it gave me such a strong imagery of the voice
@@TimWelchVocalStudio the wembley concert took place in the beginning of December 2023 and I don't think any vocal damage happened as they toured heavily in spring 2024 and his vocals were on point the whole tour. In the concert, when he came back singing, his voice was audibly tired as it seemed like he didn't fully recovered after a cold and he struggled in some places but the crowd had his back the entire concert. There are a lot of high quality recording of the whole wembley concert on UA-cam, would be cool for you to have a look and even maybe do an analysis on how he came back after the 3 songs break he took and we had our "karaoke" session
I think I need to relisten to this with headphones as I can’t hear what he’s singing. This is not not my type of music but looking forward to your breakdown. I imagine there is a lot more vocal technique to the screamo sound than just screaming. I’m sure it’s intentional the music is so disjointed it makes you feel so many emotions - if that makes sense.
This was really interesting, I don't know that much about technical stuff so it was great to listen to you break down Vessel's singing. I'm definitely sticking around for your next reactions and analysis!! I'd recommend Blood sport (from the room below), it's more of an acoustic version with just him and the piano, it's amazing to listen to. Some other interesting ones are Chokehold and Take me back to Eden.
Sorry I had to make another comment. The drummer II was Drumeo drummer of the year for 2023. If you're going to go down the sleep token rabbit hole you have another set of videos to watch. He's so adorable and he plays his ass off.
Also, if you liked the drummer this much, check out his interview on Drumeo's channel! First time any ST member had ever done an in-person interview in their history, and they interview him about his writing techniques, inspirations, and he demonstrates some of their bigger tracks.. You might enjoy it!
If you’re interested in live Sleep Token, I HIGHLY recommend Blood Sport (from the room below). It’s Vessel and a piano - and you get the chance to see some of his mouth shapes, etc. Plus the way he sings the song is so emotional. Other recommended songs to peruse at your leisure: Rain, Ascentionism, Take me Back to Eden (warning: long song), Vore (if you want more of the screams), The Apparition, (older works): Jaws, Hypnosis Hi there from a ST fan, and I love voice breakdowns of them. *keeps an eye out for more from ya
I'm a 52-year-old female and I just discovered this group recently and I have to say I freaking love them! One of my favorites of theirs is Chokehold, listen to that one and tell us what you think.
“Euclid” … but that means you need to hear “The Night does not Belong to God” first, as the two are intertwined. “the Night” being the very first song on the first album & Euclid being the last song on the Third album (finishing the 3 album Story Arc of Vessels infatuation with Sleep). You would probably personally love Blood sport - “from the room below” version, I personally enjoy the more produced Album version
DEFINITELY need to do the live version of Hellelluja! Im here for ALLLLLL the Sleep Token!!!!! PS - hope you give Nightwish a try too, if you arent already familiar with them! A rabbit hole of muskc from 1996 to present. Current lead vocal is a calsically trained soprano!!!!
If you haven’t heard of him already I suggest checking out Dan Vasc he’s from a Brazilian band called Fearless they are described as an Epic Power Metal band. He has a channel on here where he’s done stuff on his own and it’s 🤯🤯🤯. I suggest starting with “Amazing Grace” - yes you heard that right 🤭 Or “I’ll Make A Man Out Of You” - yep the one from Disney’s Mulan 😉 Loads to pick apart in his vocals.
Also, Vess jumps, sings, jumps more, he does planking on stage, fights crew members, does crunches. And then sings again.
And the dancey dances 😂😂 and random thirst trapping.
“Take Me Back To Eden” or “Ascensionism” by Sleep Token. Good place to go next. But can’t go wrong with anything in the catalog.
Fall for me too, maybe not the first time they did it,since he chocked on the lyrics (Its very emotional thats also a reason why) since its the whole other side of them
“Life is dark. Life is bright. Life is ugly. Life is beautiful. Don’t get lost in genres, they’ll only disorientate you. Music is for everyone.” -Vessel 2017
I love that!
You mentioned the fact they include multiple genres. Once you really hear their other songs you’ll realize that there is no genre to put them in, they are just Sleep Token. 😊
Thanks for this. 🙏🏼✨🖤
I really need a vocal coach to specifically do a very early song from them “Calcutta” because his high notes in that are just so very good and I need someone to explain it 😁
Yessss Calcutta is my fav
Yea! 🙏🏼✨🖤
also for the studio versions, its ALL vessel and II (the drummer) Vessel writes lyrics, composes, does vocals, produces and plays all the instruments except the drums which is always II.
Thanks so much for this! ✨🙏🏼🖤
@@TimWelchVocalStudio No problem 👍
Aqua Regia has really cool jazz influence
It's actually good you did the live version, for the extra drum solo. Tho the studio version is good if you want the detailz, the ambient sounds.. 😊
That’s awesome!
His live version of Rain is so beautiful
ii, the drummer did an episode with Drumeo you should check out.
🙏🏼🖤
hi there, just a little guide here
2:35 here and
2:45 here have some difference between them
for 2:35 is IV screams while 2:45 is Vessel's scream, you can here the difference
vessel's does the screams both for the studio and live while IV does the screams only for live
vessel has airy, low and smooth screams while IV has deeper, rougher and louder screams
Oohhhh I’m a Renegade and Dearythat also loves Sleep Token!! Can’t wait to see you go down this rabbit hole as well!!
Sooo goood!
Hope you’ve joined the Patreon and are in on the chats with us all 😬🙌🏻

His dancing gives me RUMPELSTILLSKIN vibes a bit. Loved your reaction and breakdown. Feel better soon. ❤😊
🙏🏼✨ yes!
Lol, best not say his name then! 😂 singing walls into gold.
Hell yeah! I was the new subscriber that asked on your last video. You won’t be disappointed with them. I’ve been listening to their song Take Me Back To Eden for months on end and not sick of the song at all. Descending and Atlantic are the two on repeat right now
It was you who started this! Lol. Thanks. 🔥🤘🏼✨
“This is emotional and angsty and emotional”… oh just you wait buddy 😅 please do more! We will be here- songs from the room below (blood sport)may be a nice place to go for some really cool vocal demonstration! And also tears
lol, I’m in! 🙌🏼✨🖤
@@TimWelchVocalStudiocannot WAIT to see you experience title track Take Me Back to Eden. That song is church.

There's a fantastic live version from the same channel (FirstRowConcerts) of about seven more songs. Would suggest the Hypnosis or Vore live versions next.

Came here to say this!!!!
YES!!! That live version of Vore is incredible.
Renegade and sleep token head. Two favorites.
Meeeee toooooo!
Love this analysis and all the detail you shared. Thank you! Please do more songs from them!
Re: the harsh vocals in this song, IV (the guitarist) does them live.
This band from London, well what can one say.
Vessel is an utter sweetheart, so talented& gifted.
The drummer, insanely good& talented.

Thanks for the welcome 🙏🏼 🖤 Definitely intrigued!

Really appreciate this comment! 🙌🏼🔥🖤🙏🏼
Nobody everrrrrr talks about Gods and it's one of my favorites so ily for that
Rain is my favorite song of theirs. Vessels voice is just *chefs kiss*
High water. Telomeres. The offering. And take me back to Eden would be good for you to look at next
Thanks! 🙏🏼
@@TimWelchVocalStudio no problem I’d love to see you watch more sleep token. WORSHIP 💖💖
I personally do prefer live reactions over studio reactions because anybody can make themselves sound amazing in the studio. Life performances showcase their true talent although I do think it’s a good idea obviously to hear the studio version as well
Great dive into Sleep Token!
Recommendations:
- Dark Signs
- Bloodsport(from the room below)
- Alkaline
- Rain
- Take Me Back To Eden
Yessss! These are my faves. I’ll add Levitate to the mix :)

- What genre is Sleep Token?
- Yes.
lol! 🖤✨
Appreciate that and yes! More to come from them! 🙌🏼🖤
"Aqua Regia" is a personal favorite that is tossed around my friend group every now and then.
Thanks!🙏🏼
I'm so glad that you chose to watch a live version. That way you get to see vessel do his dancing dance and play piano. One of the things that makes sleep token so special is that their albums are expertly produced and sound magnificent but when you go to see them live play they sound just as good. With the three beautiful backup ladies and the full sound it's just like another experience of the same perfectly produced song that you heard on the album.
So good!
Also the screaming part is I think Vessel IV joining Vessel I. Think his is the lower sounding according to other fans
This might not be the case for this video, just know that IV has been doing it for the last while anyways
Interesting. So they all called themselves vessels?
@@TimWelchVocalStudio Yes, Vessel i who is mostly just called Vessel. The rest are Vessel ii, iii and iv, but just called ii, iii or ivy. Then the 3 ladies that are the backing singers are called Espera.
I still haven't done a right deep dive myself yet. I want to wait til I get their records first before I do.
Looks like IV was singing the louder harsh on this one too. Vessel's harsh from what i hear from fans is usually the higher more airy fry scream..
@@tiffy3260 That's what I saw online. Vessel is the higher scream, IV the lower
I love the things you've explained with all the different vocal tones Vessel is using. I learned some things today! Sleep Token is my favorite band, and I appreciate the care you've put into this reaction ❤
Thank you it was a pleasure listening to them! More to come. 🖤🙌🏼
I really can't wait for you to experience more from them. They are soooo good!
First of all, thank you so much for this detailled reaction to Sleep Token. Like many of their fans, I have been deeply touched by them since the first song I heard. They helped me getting through a very dark time in my life and attending a ritual made me a worshipper. Please continue this journey 🖤 Worship
✨🙏🏼🖤
I think “Rain” is my favorite of their songs. Just got into them and have been listening to them every day for 3 weeks now.
Oh my god please do more sleep token reactions! I absolutely love your analysis
I also love the fact that you react to the live performance too!!! Amazing
🙌🏼🔥🖤
I love this band so so so much. Hope they record something new soon.
Here to Worship! 🙏🏼🤘🏼💕
Worship!!!!
Happy to tag along to the start of your Sleep Token journey!
Welcome aboard!
Thanks for the info!
Awesome, thanks!
Please do them all, you won't be disappointed ❤
Live performance is unmatched. Incredible.
Oh, this is so amazing thank you so much
@@TimWelchVocalStudio try the live lafayette concert if you want just him, the piano, backup singers + audience. The Metal Kitty youtube page has the full set ☺️
Listen to their full albums. You will not be disappointed. Also there are some content creators that have 4k top quality recordings of their live sets
Great reaction!
Ascensionism would be my recommendation for your next view. It shows the range of the band beautifully
Sleepy here, and more recently, a RENegade. I wish you'd listened to their studio version rather than a poorly recorded live 😭

i know other people have brought it up already, but if you ever decide to check out covers of theirs, i would LOVE to see an analysis of his performace of hallelujah from 2022. they never officially recorded that cover, which in my opinion is a damn shame. thank you again for your analysis!! i'm excited to see if you'll do more 🤞😁

Sleep Token got me back into singing after not having done it for 15 years 😅. I love his voice so much that I felt like picking it up again. I just learned a lot listening to your reaction / analysis 😊

Just understand that during concerts there is another person screaming with Vessel. Ivy has a powerful roar and supports him.
Just say IV (4) to people who don't know.
Besides this my two favorites are Atlantic and Chokehold. Definitely check either of those out next!! I think you'll enjoy Atlantic specifically 👌

Great reaction to a great band! On a tangent 'Raye - Oscar Winning Tears (live at the Albert Hall)' would be right up your boulevard .
This was super entertaining!! Thank you for the input. Would love to see your reaction to Bad Omens
Added! 🖤🙏🏼
Hard subscribe! I absolutely loved how what you said about the brass part of the voice and the windy part of the voice, that's such a brilliant way of putting it and it gave me such a strong imagery of the voice
Hahaha love that about the claws! 🔥 How long ago was this? Did Vessels voice bounce back or was there vocal damage?
Yeah, that sounds interesting to react to. Thanks 🙏🏼 🖤
Yes, lots of technique! Super interesting project!
🔥🙏🏼🖤
Sorry I had to make another comment. The drummer II was Drumeo drummer of the year for 2023. If you're going to go down the sleep token rabbit hole you have another set of videos to watch. He's so adorable and he plays his ass off.
Take me back to eden is my favourite song, I heard it live at a bmth concert! I didn’t know sleep token before but I sure knew they after ❤
II is a drumming monster. The solo is crazy
Other recommended songs to peruse at your leisure: Rain, Ascentionism, Take me Back to Eden (warning: long song), Vore (if you want more of the screams), The Apparition, (older works): Jaws, Hypnosis
Hi there from a ST fan, and I love voice breakdowns of them. *keeps an eye out for more from ya
Cheers, thanks!
I'm a 52-year-old female and I just discovered this group recently and I have to say I freaking love them! One of my favorites of theirs is Chokehold, listen to that one and tell us what you think.
Will do thanks!
I suggest starting with “Amazing Grace” - yes you heard that right 🤭
Or “I’ll Make A Man Out Of You” - yep the one from Disney’s Mulan 😉
Loads to pick apart in his vocals.
Awesome, thanks! 🔥🙌🏼
Welcome to the journey of sleep token. I would love your take a on Atlantic live version
Hoping to get back to reacting to sleep token this weekend.
The drummer II has technical death metal hardenig, as well as other inspirations that stem from different styles explained in the drumeo feature.
