    Before several weeks I just wondered why don't we set our clocks according to the average sunset time and now I see there are people who actually do it. This is actually very nice to know

      Александър Дедов It really makes more sense... but only closer to equator where sometimes you get equal days and nights

    • @alexday3142
      @alexday3142 4 роки тому +2

      Now I realised it's called equator because days and nights are equal... (mind blown)

    @Mcdonalswarrior :-), its actually fun! Take 2 clocks and set them one to swahili and one to western style, you will enjoy it.

    That makes sense! You start counting when the sun rises! Of course! :) Asante!

    Kulmansan!!!! You rock high!! your presentations are awesome. I'm telling you. I used a lot of your Presentations and slides to teach my students. The slides are almost self-explanatory. today I had a "Telling time in Kiswahili - Class". The class was well understood, and your presentation was very useful. Endeleza kurusha madude mengine. Watz. tupo nyuma sana katika kuweka Video zinazotangaza lugha hii. Asante sana, naomba endeleza. :)

    Dont give up so fast. Always remember that just because something is different doesn't mean its hard. If u learn it ,you might even find it easier. its like the Fereinheit and Celcius scale.

    Asante! These were great videos. And being from Somalia....I agree with you that the western time does not make as much sense as swahili time!

    @aliyoung9 Way to go!!!! You are doing better than some people in Tanzania already!!!

    Not really, its a different dialect. However if you speak what I have in videos here, you will be heard and understood fine.

      we try... and it makes more sense right?... well, only if you are close to the equator where two half of the days do not vary much in length for most of the year... new learning content just added

    @2jukojohn :-) You are right! Once you get the logic behind it.. it actually makes perfect sense! For example if you are about to sleep at 1AM do you say see you today or do you say see you tomorrow? LOL Logically we say tomorrow... but according to western time we should say 'later today!' hehehe

  • @Swahili101Plus

    BTW.. in Kenya they speak a lot of English, so you won't have hard time to mingle. However, in Tanzania, they speak very little English... I mean number of people

    You got it, the closer to the equator, the more equal the days and nights are.
    When you move closer to the poles, then the seasons are VERY different and so are the time swings... long days and short nights, vice-vicer

  • @Swahili101Plus

    @Mcdonalswarrior :-) no worries! People know the Western and Tanzania time. The radio still tells time in traditional time. I think it's a cool thing.. makes it exotic when you travel. Besides I hope you will at least travel with your wrist watch :-)

    @Swahili101Plus  14 років тому

    @sandradnield :o) to me it makes sense

  • @MonnyYell

    so winter days and summer days are all 12 hour sunlight hours. cool

  • @Swahili101Plus
    @Swahili101Plus  12 років тому

    no real winter, like in with snow etc.. snow is almost always there in areas that have snow... like Kilimanjaro (moutain peak). Main season other than summer is 'masika', the rainy season, which comes from the Indian 'monsoons'

    Time starting from sunrise is Islamic not Swahili. KISWAHILI is an Islamic language copied by many for convenience. There is no language called Swahili. It is KISWAHILI.

      Great :-) thanks for the comment... now you can start your own channel and educate the masses. Many teachers are needed, we have enough criticizers, sir.

      @@Swahili101Plus UA-cam was never meant to educate. It is about getting enough likes and subscribers to make money. There are enough educational websites out there. Maybe you are a teacher but I advise you to stick to subjects that you know You don't know Kiswahili. You don't even know what my language is called. KISWAHILI.

      @@mohamedatismail I have yet to make money on this... my friend. MashaAllah you know Swahili, so please start your channel, because I guarantee you many have learnt from here and many are learning from other channels not only Swahili, but other languages too.
      Many people have entered the fold of Islam via youtube, though it was never meant to e the tool for that. So the platform works.
      I have learnt many tricks on Adobe Photoshop from here and I use them to make money outside youtube.
      I personally learn languages from other channels. Some viewers have travelled to Tanzania and Kenya and reported how they benefited from this. So I would rather give the little I know. It is up to you to make it better or to leave it be. It's a short life. Too many things to do brother. I choose to focus to benefit those who seek the little knowledge I have.
      Thank you again...
      Stay blessed

      Don't confuse things, in Swahili time is counted from both the sunrise and sunset, they count 12 hours after sunrise and later 12 hours after sunset, in Islamic time, it is the day that starts at the sunset, in Swahili the day starts in the morning,
      Maybe it has got influenced by Islamic way, but what I know is, even the African societies around the equator which has no Islamic influence that's how they tell the time in their native ways,

    • @mohamedatismail
      @mohamedatismail 3 місяці тому

      @safaritz3557 The Swahili are a people with their own culture and traditions. Our tribe is called WASWAHILI, like you have wachaga and wahehe. A person not belonging to our tribe will never know our traditions. So just shut up and follow your own traditions.
