- An eight-week-long American television series starring The Carpenters. The key concept was that each show started off with the letter "A" and was over when they got to the letter "Z". The series ran from July 20, 1971 to September 7, 1971.
I always loved the Bert Bacharach medly
it is amazing how she plays the drums while singing and closing her eyes and not even looking at the drums. She was not just the greatest female voice ever, she was an amazing drummer.
...and syncing with the backing track as well; a seriously talented lady, all at just 20+yrs old
I need the time machine immediately.
Still Love watching these clips.I watched the 1st run of this show on t.v. and they are etched in my brain. It's 3-2-22 Today.Happy 72nd Birthday Karen! Still here watching and listening to you and Richard!Thank You so much for all of your hard work. You will be with us always!
"I Kept On Loving You" from their "Close To You" album - love it. Richard Carpenter - a man of so many talents that no one else can even begin to compare themselves to: Pianist, Song Writer, Orchestra Arranger, Record Producer, and one tremendous Singer.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
One Love is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and sung. Richard's piano on that clip is amazing! One of their most underrated songs!
I love one love
Very true!!
...gorgeous sublime and it may be that she had no clue how amazing she was.
Karen's voice is exquisite on Wishin' and Hopin". Timeless and never overdone.
fool4singing I wish she had recorded the singles for each one in this medley. She can make a song her own!
Agreed 💯. ANY time she opened her mouth it was perfection!
Richard has such a beautiful voice too. He does not get enough credit. They were and are BOTH The Carpenters
Karen was the greatest musical talent ever. Greatest singer and greatest drummer.
I love this song so much.Karen's voice is beautiful.Than You for posting this!
now this is true TV
The. Carpenters were all very talented. However, Karen always is the main attraction!! This woman had so many talents and really became the star. She looks so damn happy behind them drums...... we lost her way too early......Karen always seemed to so genuine, loving and kinda funny. She really had that xtra special something. Seems Karen was so giving of herself.......don’t think she received as much as she gave.........thanks to everyone who shares these videos. She’s still alive in our hearts, but damn.......One Love, how beautiful!!!
Would be fantastic if this series could be restored.
What a genuis
there are much singer with talent, but Karen did have some special
This was the first time I saw The Carpenters on TV. I initially thought that the 4 musicians were part of the group, not just Karen and Richard.
God bless them. Rip KAC
Oh, how I miss those days. You could watch rock 'n' roll and just about anything else without being embarrassed to tears by nudity and foul-mouthed celebs. These days they run for president and drop the f-bomb in living color. Sad.
Wish someone would remaster and digitize these videos and put them up for sale.
...I am a huge Carpenters fan but...what a shock it must have been when they heard Karen's lower register. ✌🏽
I wouldn't say "shocked", but mesmerized 💓 from the first note in Close To You!
Both of Karen and Cass Elliot had amazing voices. Sure wish they had recorded their voices together!!
Remember, Karen is only 21 at this time. Compare her voice to singers today .... if you can!
Why that Richard have latex gloves?
Karen was not only so much better at singing than Richard, she was also a much better lip syncher.
richard has hard time pronouncing letter s
Can you say MAJOR LIPSYNC?
They had no choice, that’s how it was back then. Everyone had to do that.
They preferred that when on tv
