The more fat I eat, the thinner and more muscular I get. Those advocating for less fat don't know what they're talking about.

I think people are different in terms of how much fat/ protein ratio that their bodies need for effective fat loss. Too much fat or an imbalance in my protein and fat intake doesn't work for me.

I have found as a menopausal woman that high fat and moderate protein helps with my crazy hormones and eat once a day and can still lose weight. If I eat higher protein with high fat I gain weight. The fat helps me so much with sleep and up and down hormonal issues. So I choose this way and feel my best. Hope this helps someone.

Howdy all, 28 y/o man here. If anyone is curious about brain injury and carnivore diet, I asked Dr. Chaffee, in a superchat about 3 weeks ago, how capable the brain is of healing trauma on carnivore.
My brain injury was in November of 2015, not 2014 as I stated in my comment.
My brother, our friend and I were out shooting gun in the badlands of North Dakota on that fateful day. I brought my muzzleloader and they had two different pistols that we were shooting for around an hour or so. We had all fired my muzzleloader at least once with me shooting it the most. It was a .50 cal, and it had a pretty good kick, and at 19 y/o I was "bullet proof". After about the 6th shot I reloaded it and pulled the trigger and when I came to I was laying on my face on the ground, it exploded out the left side and blew some pretty nasty wounds into my left wrist and the barrel sheared off the stock, flew backwards and cracked my skull on the right side about 2 inches above my rght eyebrow. We had to drive 28 miles to the hospital where the did X-rays, and stitched up my wrist. There was a deep cut that they couldn't stitch because of it's proximity to the radial artery, they said around 2mm away from hitting it. I was then airlifted to another hospital 100 miles away and underwent brain surgery. My hospital stay was only 3 days because I got very lucky, the neurosurgeon told me if the barrel had hit an inch to the right or left, I'd most likely have been partially paralyzed.
For the next 5 years, I dealt with intense paranoia, depression, mania, terrible sleep, migraines, and mild auditory hallucinations. I self medicated with booze and food and other terrible stuff. I was around 300 lbs when the incident happened, and ballooned up to around 375 lbs, depending on the day.
In 2020 I got really into fasting, starting with OMAD, and slowly progressing into 2, 3, 5, 7, and 14 day fasts over the next year and a half. I dropped from 375 to 275 purely by fasting, and along with the weight loss all my mental issues went away within that time. I never did psych stuff or meds, so I know for sure it was the fasting.
Only been carnivore since june last year, and I'm down to 255 now, and I can say for sure that the carnivore "diet" is the only one I've been able to stick to. Definitely changed my life for the better. I got back into weight lifting and sprinting, got rid of brain fog and pain in my left wrist, I'm probably twice as strong now as I was back when I was a fat tub of seed oil and booze, and I've always been the strong one at any job or group of friends I've had.
Thank you to anyone that reads this whole post, I know it's long. If anyone needs advice on fasting or how to cope in a healthy way with brain injury, I'm fairly experienced in both of those areas.
Dr. Chaffee, if you read this, thank you for your generosity with your time. I know your time is incredibly valuable, and with how much you give your viewers and the carnivore community I don't know how you ever sleep or have time for anything resembling relaxation.

That is incredible. Massive applause to you for taking control of your fkn health and DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT instead of being the VICTIM. I’m an ER nurse and the strain on healthcare is only getting worse due to the western diet and lazy lifestyle. Sucks for us hospital staff and sucks for patients since wait times are ridiculous. So applause to you man, great job.
I’m a travel nurse too, might make my way up to North Dakota one day! The dakotas always kind of pulled me I feel, but NOT during winter 😂
And yes I agree, idk when Chaffee sleeps. Actually he said in one video he does from like 11p-5am lol. Later bedtime he says cuz he’s back in the gym✊🏼You could never tell he wasn’t huh!

@dyldabeast9176Jesus Christ, are all the other people that claim it healed them crazy also? There are an absurd amount of people with no monetary motives whatsoever that talk about how it healed them, made them lose weight, and feel better than they have since they were in their teens. I’ve lost 65 pounds because of this diet, I feel more mental clarity than I have since my early 20s, my freaking varicose veins are healing which didn’t happen when I lost the same amount of weight a decade ago on a carb based diet. My blood sugar is fantastic, all my inflammation has disappeared I was waking up with tooth pain every night on a carb diet for years! Not anymore! No joint pain nothing. It is an amazing diet it definitely heals the body in my own personal experience. Have you tried the diet? I challenge you to do it for 30 days. If you do it properly you will be shocked.

This is the kind of testimonial that needs to get wider attention. I would encourage you to get your story out. I don't know what you do for a living but your writing is good, it's evocative and honest without being overwrought.
You are probably aware of the reasons for the inaccurate dietary information that has been taught. Dr Chaffee has made videos on this topic as have others, Dr Jason Fung for example, Dr Robert Lustig and authors such as Gary Taubes and Nina Teicholz. Because of the dietary misinformation many people are not doing the right things for themselves. It's not their fault, they are doing what they were taught but the price they are paying is too high.
For that reason, someone with a story like yours can do a lot of good. We need stories like this to counter what people have been taught.
It is my hope that eventually as more studies are done and people successfully change their diets, the recommendations will finally change. It will take time and effort, entire industries will have to shift and vested interests in will want to continue making the profits they have made on products that are not healthy.
In the meantime, we have to do everything we can to get accurate information to people. It is potentially life-saving for many and I believe it is our responsibility.
A few years ago I came across a channel that articulated a rule; if you have the means to help, you have the responsibility to do so.
It was interesting because it made explicit something I believe. I wish more people felt an ethical or moral responsibility to help others. This should not be interpreted to require sacrifice, but if we can at minimal cost to ourselves do significant good for others, we probably should.
This response is getting lengthy. If I can help you get your story out or offer advice on how to do that, I would be glad to do it. My background is at least partially relevant.
Thank you for posting your story. Whatever you do, please post it widely on UA-cam and in other forums. Your story will inspire others and that inspiration may save lives.

There’s a massive difference between a “heavy meat eater” who is also taking in processed shit and carbs,
And a person on a clean ketogenic diet, like Carnivore.
The Randle Cycle is the issue, not the meat consumption

I think depending on one's evolutionary path/ heritage, different people may be able to successfully include dairy while maintaining a carnivore lifestyle.

If you're just starting The carnivore diet. And you're coming from the standard american diet. It seems best to gradually reduce your Sugar or carb intake gradually. This greatly decreased my Cravings. I started On a weekly basis , reducing my carb intake from one hundred grams to less than ten grams. I reduced my carb intake by twenty five grams each week till less than 10. I had Very few cravings doing this method. Start a two months ago and have lost 40 pounds. As soon as I started to reduce the sugar I began to lose weight almost immediately. I was probably consuming two hundred fifty or more grams of sugar per day prior to starting the diet. Before I had tried to start cold turkey and had huge cravings. This time the cravings were very minimal. Also I intentionally had all my sugar/carb intake early in the morning all at once. Also didn't get the keto flu symptoms.

I’ve gone from 265 to 204 and all I’ve ate for the last two months is 1lb of 80/20 grass fed ground beef with a half stick of butter to add onto the fat per day. Should I be adding even more fat than that? Just don’t want to lose progress I’m losing fat like mad, my skin can’t keep up with it hoping it shrinks down but we will see might have to get surgery if it doesn’t. Other option would be to build muscle to help fill in the loose skin but that’s another topic in mainly concerned about my fat loss.

When talking about fasting, i was quite surprised to hear him use the calories in - calories out model of metabolism. That model has generally been shown to be inaplicable to those on keto and carnivore because insulin levels are back to normal functioning. With fasts under 3-5 days, the "starvation" he refers to, with a loss of muscle mass and decrease in metabolic rate and energy, isn't observed. People such as Dr Fung and Dr Mason have videos discussing the research on this

Ty! I get concerned about ppl complaining of not losing weight, following channels that promote protein only days etc. Obviously that's going to increase blood sugar, and also signal to your body to hold fat because obviously there's a famine going on in the animal world and that's why all the meat you're eating is so lean o_0 The dieting and "challenge" approach on some channels to me shows misunderstandings about fat and protein that can even be dangerous for some followers with kidney issues etc.

I have CKD and I have increased my protein intake due to losing protein in my urine. My GFR has improved from 3 to 2 in 3 months. It makes no sense to decrease your protein if you are losing it in your urine. Your body will just start using your muscle tissue for protein otherwise.

Dr Chaffee is completely wrong about fasting slowing the metabolism, whether intermittent or extended, I know this from my own experience. There is a big difference between the body's response to fasting and under eating. Dr Jason Fung has deeply studied fasting in conjunction with weight loss and I would follow him on fasting. There are a number of other fasting experts on You Tube that would be able to give you far better information on the topic. Studies quoted by Dr Fung have shown that the metabolism actually speeds up about ten percent during fasting, which would make ancestral sense. A caveman who didn't succeed in hunting one day would die if his metabolism slowed as he didn't eat as he would have less energy on subsequent days.

When you can find the same bacteria in a person with and without an illness, common sense would tell you that the bacteria is not the cause of the dis "ease" to keep looking for another cause. I can tell you as a medical professional, myself, I was never ever taught it was actually called germ "theory". That's a rabbit hole too.

The Fasting Method has a lot of clinical experience with fasting. Fasting led me get to carnivore.
