This is normally closed Thermostat Bimetal Disc. if you test it using a multimeter and it is open (no continuity) then you would need to change it.

My steamer's power light is on but not steaming at all. Do you think changing the thermal switch will solve the problem?

@@amnanbazli hello there. You have 2 possibilities there. First your thermal sensor has gone and you have to replace it. This video has explained that part. Second your resistence who is serving to heat and is the heart of the unit is gone there you have to change the heart of the unit which probably is going to cost you third to half price of the device. Good luck.

Thanks for the video, very helpful. I have the same unit and when I pulled thermostat, it was covered with gunk and hard to read part number. Can you tell me what and where did you purchase replacement part?

Excellent. It can be connected directly as a test. Unsafe to use without the fuse. Can you post a link where I may buy? Thank you.

What if the light does Not come on, does that mean that it needs another part that is not worth replacing? Mine is completely dead.
I would appreciate someone’s advice. Thanks!

Hello. I was having the same issue. I replaced the Thermo Switch and the heating element starts heating if i dont screw the thermo switch in. When i screw the thermo switch in place, it doesnt work. Seems like its grounding out for some reason. Do you know what the issue could be?

There is also a thermal fuse on this unit. Do you know the specifications? you would normally need to replace this fuse as well.

My Philips iron or garment steamer causes a
power failure on mains..is it got to do with thermostats?

I would check the heating element as it is drawing too much current (low element resistance) and tripping your circuit.
