I just want to tell you we all appreciate your videos
Hey Tristen Lam,
Well....thank you! I like them too :)
I have a full production schedule for 2018 and there are many more episodes in development!
Bravo! No nonsense, right to it, well explained and good video quality too. Big thumbs up for mentioning the filler plug because that would completely ruin the day if you couldn't get it out after dropping the gear oil.
Thank you!
I'm glad you found it helpful :)
What type of tool you use to loosen the drain plug
Thank you for the very clear video. Some people do their videos at night with dim lighting. smh.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you man! I really preciate your advice :)
Hey Blac Blac,
You are welcome. :)
Thanks for the video! Very helpful
Hey RickyZ35,
No problem, thanks for the comment!
thanks for the great and well explained video! I was wondering for my 2012 g37s manual transmission, would i only need 3 quarts as well?
Correct! It is the same transmission :)
Thank you, I'm going to do this on my 2016 370Z.
Hey cotes42,
This one is nice and easy.
Have fun!
Can you link the gear oil you used? As well as cover tools used and where I could possibly pick these items up at?
Hey Jeremy Hunter,
For the manual transmission oil I used the factory oil available from any Nissan or Infiniti dealer.
You can also try Amazon: www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dautomotive&field-keywords=nissan+mtf
I don't understand what you mean by "cover tools"?
Thanks bud. Do you have any info or videos on how to do the reverse switch on a 2012 g37s 6mt?
Do the reverse switch?
I have no idea what you are asking for.
Excellent video and very educational. I have a couple of questions:
I drive an Infiniti g37 coupe with 6 speed manual transmission. Does it come with a dipstick?
My second question is, I am having some kind of clear fluid sprayed on the front engine cover, and some on the side cover as well. Mainly i can see it on the top of the clutch plastic cover. The fluid itself is clear in color. Is it a transmission fluid? Or clutch fluid? Thanks man.
Hey Mr.Logic23,
Sorry to say, but there is not dipstick with the 6 speed manual. You need to remove the upper fill plug (while on a level surface), stick your finger in the transmission and the level should be right at the bottom of the fill hole.
I don't think it can be brake or clutch fluid since they are below a cover. (assuming you still have the factory cover on the driver's side)
My best internet troubleshooting guess is engine coolant or maybe power steering fluid.
How does it feel between your fingers? Water or oilly? What does it smell like?
I added 2 more quarts and it still didn't over flow, lol. I used the valvoline full synthetic gear. I will be using your next video as a guide to install my top speed pro exhaust so that the car can be ready for the 3hrs drive to Montreal this weekend for the Canadian F1 GP.
So how did the install go?
Thanks for a great video, I was considering going for the red line oil though, recommended for these gearboxes.
Hey themanmaschine,
No problem!
Nissan HQ Multi 75W-85 Manual Transmission fluid or Red Line's MT-85 75W85 GL-4 gear oil are two good choices :)
@@MotorvateDIY I have a 05 G35. Over the years I've tried different types of MT GL4 oils trying to cure the notchy/slow engagement of 2nd and 3rd gear. The only thing that seemed to help was an additive called Z Max for Transmissions. It worked for about two weeks before the symptoms returned. My theory is that viscosity is too thick when the Transmission is cold. After driving over an hour gear engagement seems to improve. Perhaps if I could find a quality 75w90 GL4 or thiner my shifting problems would be reduced?
@@stealthg35infiniti94 what’s the update?
@@MotorvateDIY Will this work in a 2009 Nissan 370z base, 6speed?
Yes, as it is the exact same transmission :)
I used MT-85. So far it feels a lot better. At 115k, im sure to assume it was never changed before. Also did rear diff with motul 300 ls
Hey Xavier Sanchez,
Nice! You are now all set for the next 5-10 years :)
Got a question sir..i got a 2009 g37x sedan when i fully stop from a traffic light one i start driving from a low speed something is rattling under the car it seems like it's there drive shaft
Hey Jay Aspero,
It is hard to guess what it could be from what you told me.
If it is a higher pitched sound it could be a rattling head shield from the exhaust.
I don't think it is the drive shaft, since it stops turning when the car is stopped.
Try this: When stopped and you hear the rattle, put the car in park and see if the rattle stops. Putting the car in park will slightly increase your engine RPM change the vibration frequency of the exhaust.
My guess is that the rattle will go away when in park.
Let me know the results.
Around how many miles should we be changing the transmission fluid? Also what is that syringe that was used to put in the fluid?
Hard to say... If you plan on keeping the car a long time I would change it every 6-8 years to 100,000 miles.
I used what is called a "transfer pump"
great video for people that have a manual transmission but what about the automatic transmission I'm having trouble trying to find filters or anything for it I found in my manual what kind of fluid it takes but all the auto parts stores are like when I type it in it shows take to Infiniti dealership what should I do if I really can't afford to take it to Infiniti dealer
Hey Austin Jessen,
(Sorry for the very late reply. UA-cam just added a new comment filter showing comments without a reply and that is how I found this)
You may want to do a search at myg37.com, a few people have been able to document how to change the automatic trans fluid.
Where did you buy the red pump to pump in the oil. Or what is it called?
Hey Miguel Villalobos,
That pump was purchased at Canadian Tire, but since 2% if my views are from Canada, here is how you can find it:
Do an online search for "transfer pump". They are not expensive and make it very easy to change fluids.
Good luck!
Wow. Thanks for this video. I bought my g37s last June and out of all the stuff I've done I wasn't aware of this one. my service engine/check engine light keeps coming on and off, code say random misfire. Sparta plug was change recently. Do you or anyone have this issue?
Jerome, I am glad you liked the video.
A random misfire can be difficult to track down. I assume the spark plugs were changed to try and fix the issue, but the code returned.
Do you have a cheap ELM327 OBD scanner? If you do, look at your fuel trims (long term and short term) for both banks. They should be between -10 to +10. This may help identify which bank (left or right, or both) may have an issue.
Thanks for the reply. Yes the plugs were changed. I cleaned the mass air flow sensors and the textile body. It's all good now. Next is the diff and gear oil when I get some time.
Hey Jerome,
Awesome, I am glad to hear the issue is resolved. Good work!
What's the recommended miles oil change for the gearbox on 370z? Also for the diff oil?
As far as I know, there isn't a schedule.
For me, I just change it every 5-6 years.
Hi I appropriate your videos , what do you think of changing ATF 7 speed automatic? for new oil if the car have 93k is the transmision will slipper on the new oil ?
Hey Mateusz S,
If you plan on keeping your car for a long time, I would change the ATF fluid
and make sure to use the fluids specified in the owner's manual.
Is a flush necessary when switching brands? If so, how would you go about that?
Hey Desmond Neverson,
No flush is necessary. If the transmission is warm when draining the old fluid, almost all of it is removed.
Then put in the drain plug and fill it up with your favorite gear oil. (Make sure it is GL-4)
what is the name of the pump you used to siphon the fluid?
Hey SirPongSanity,
It is known as a "transfer pump" and I couldn't find a link to the pump I used. (I have had it for quite a while, so it may not be available any longer)
However, this pump would work if you are in Canada: www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/deluxe-pump-0283009p.html#spc
Or this one from the US: www.harborfreight.com/multi-use-transfer-pump-66418.html
I hope this answers your question. :)
Do you know if this would be the same procedure for a 2008 Nissan Altima w/ a 6 speed manual (2.5S, 4 cycl)?
Hey Raphael Fernandez,
It is very similar. Looking at the transmission (actually a transaxle), from under the car, you will see two threaded plugs with a 3/8" square hole in the middle. The lower one is the drain plug and the higher one is the fill plug.
Use a 3/8 ratchet extension and make sure it is fully inserted in the the plug (it is a good idea to use a small screw driver and scrape out any road dirt/stuff) and you can easily remove and install the plugs.
It is always a good idea to loosen the fill plug first.
Nissan recommends their: Genuine NISSAN Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF) HQ Multi 75W-85 or API GL- 4, Viscosity SAE 75W-85 oil.
Do not use a "GL-5" type fluid, or your shift quality will be instantly poor.
Good luck!
@@MotorvateDIY Thank you so much for getting back to me... I just ordered the Transmission fluid and I'll let you know how it went. Thank you once again. Love your videos.
If the fill bolt doesn’t come out, can’t you fill it from the top where the shifter is?
Hey RzVids,
Nope. The shifter is mounted behind the transmission.
However, I have never had a problem removing any drain/fill plug on a differential.
How many courts for a 2010 infiniti g37x coupe?
Hey BIG ROCK gaming,
The automatic transmission in the G37x requires special tools and procedures to change the fluid.
This link to myg37.com should be helpful:
www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-installations-modifications/267513-g37-automatic-transmission-fluid-change-pan-drop-clean.html
I'd love to hear your opinion for aftermarket oil like red 85 mt ? Will I notice difference ?
Fava4, I don't have any first hand experience with the Reline 85MT on the G37. The main reason I went with the factory oil is that I know it works well.
A few years ago, I changed transmission oil in my old BMW 530. I changing it 3 times in a week trying different transmission oils and ended up at the dealer to get the proper stuff. With the non-BMW oil, the shifting was very notchy and rough.
Some manual transmissions require a specific co-efficient of friction in the oil for the synros to function smoothly. Too slippery or too grippy will cause shifting issues.
Why don't you pop over to the MYG37 forums and search around there. I am sure you will find a post where they have changed it and what the result was.
Good Luck!
I had a Porsche 944S that had a 5-speed manual transaxle and I used the Redline MTF in it. The transaxle shifted more smoothly after that and there was less gear whine at highway speeds, as compared to the old fluid that I assume was the Porsche original fill.
Great video. Is it possible to overfill the transmission? And is it bad if overfilled?
Hey nandosman,
It is easy to overfill the manual transmaission, BUT it is easy to get it to the proper level: With the car level, just let the oil drain out of the TOP fill hole. If the level is 2-3mm (about 1/8") high, it won't hurt anything.
Happy shifting :)
Hi again. Thanks for another useful video. I changed my diff oil after watching your video and it was really dirty. Then i did the gear oil. The auto shop only gave me 1 quart and said thay will do it. In your video, you used 3. Is 3 quarts recommended by the manufacturer, or did you just fill it till its full?
Hey Jerome Salmon,
The factory shop manual from Infiniti says the 6 speed manual transmission requires 2.83 liters (3 quarts) of Genuine NISSAN Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF)HQ Multi 75W-85.
To make sure it is at the correct level, keep adding oil until it flows out the fill plug, put in the fill plug and you are done. :)
Thanks man. Gots to get about 2 more quarts in her asap. Next is replacing the exhaust with a top speed pro exhaust. Did you change your y-pipe and do you think there's any real gain by doing so?
Hey Jerome,
The exhaust I put on was a Stillen Cat Back and it came with a larger diameter y-pipe.
I do believe a larger Y-pipe does help with flow and therefor, making more power.
Here is a short video on the pipe size differences between stock and the Stillen exhaust:
ua-cam.com/video/egHsIvVV0QI/v-deo.html
I hope it helps you.
We could use some info on that tool you used and suggestions on where you got your stuff and any tips on what you might do differently next time.
Hey chosenwon4444,
The pump I used is called a "transfer pump" (do a search on Amazon to find one) and the transmission oil was purchased at Infiniti.
You might be able to get the same oil cheaper if you purchase it as Nissan... Just say you have 370z for them to look up the correct part number)
It really is a easy process, just make sure to clean the "gunk" off the magnet in the drain plug.
This oil didn't give you some problems in 1st or 2nd gear shift in cold weather sir ?
Fava4, no problems shifting in cold weather (-10 C / 14 F). BUT I always shift s-l-o-w-l-y when first driving off. Cold oil is always thick and it can reduce the function of the syncros resulting in a "crunchy" shift.
great vid! what was the name of the transmission fluid ?
Thank you! It is the "Nissan Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF) HQ Multi 75W85" and I purchased it at my local Nissan / Infiniti dealer for about $30 Canadian $ per bottle.
I have a Z and i ended up going with motul 75w90 and I went felt like 4 gear was hard to get in would like go away after a few miles of driving ?
Interesting... For me, I just stick with the same transmission oil that it came with.
So can u actually check the fluid? Like does it have a dipstick sumwhere
Usually on a manual transmission, there is no dipstick.
all you need to do is remove the "fill plug" and verify that some oil drips out.
Is it recommended to use Nissan gear oil or can you use a similar type of oil
Hey James Nunez,
Many have used Redline "MT-85 75W85 GL-4 Gear Oil" without any problems.
However, I like to use the oil recommended by Nissan/Infiniti in the owners manual: "NISSAN Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF) HQ Multi 75W-85"
I know it is 100% compatible for the transmission and has the proper co-efficient of friction for the syncros to work proper to ensure smooth gear changes.
Based on experience from other cars, sometimes the aftermarket gear oils are too "slippery" and the syncros don't work as well and the shifting is a little more "crunchy" or not as smooth.
The Nissan oil is a little more expensive, ($5-6 per quart in Canada) but I don't have to worry about how well compatible or durable the Redline oil is.
I have a 2008 g37s mt coupe and today i went to my mechanic to get a transmission fluid change and he told me that is not necesary change it because mt cars special infiniti come with special fluid that is for life, i am confuse that you change yours
Hey Blac Blac,
I changed mine to extend the life of the transmission, since I keep my cars a very long time.
The term "good for life" means the life of the transmission. When the fluid is used up/worn out, it damages the transmission and that can "end its life"
"Good for life" is not the same as "good forever"
By changing the fluid, you are extending the transmission.
If you don't plan on keeping your car 8-10+ years, then there is no need to replace it.
If you change the ATF they won't be able to sell you a new transmission as soon as they expected.
What ramp are u using for the car to be on top?
Hey Billy Hang,
The ramps are made by Secpter and are called the "Pro Ramp"
I purchased them at Canadian Tire:
www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/scepter-pro-ramp-5400-kg-0090064p.html
and her is the manufacturer's website:
scepterusa.com/products/car_ramps/
To be honest, I really like using them. They provide a quick way to get under the car quickly and safely!
how do you know when it's time to change the transmission oil?
Hey Yol,
That is a VERY good question!
There is no factory recommended time/mileage to change the manual transmission fluid. However, there is no harm changing it every 5 years. Just make sure to use the proper Nissan / Infiniti manual transmission oil.
Captain ADHD basically when you shift and it has resistance to it or it feels notch and not smooth
Any specific reason to go with oem trans fluid from any others?
Hey Herm M,
Yes... If you use the OEM fluid, you will have the correct amount of friction for the syncros to work and the same shifting feel.
With other fluids you don't know until you try it.
Short story:
On my 2001 BMW, I tried 2 different "manual transmission" gear oils from well known brands and the shifting was best described as "crunchy"... I purchased the BMW fluid ($$$$) and it was back to buttery smooth.
I wasted about $100 on gear oil and a few hours of my time.
@@MotorvateDIY thank you i was looking around for oil myself and feel its better to put oem. Im at that stage of filling it back up i was just curious on what to get and if oem was better for the synchros that maybe Redline Mt85
Hey Herm M,
I think a lot of people have been happy with the MT85, but I know the OEM fluid will be just as I expect.
Can I ask the brand and source of those ramps? Many ramps don't work because of the low clearance.
Sure... Here is a short review video: ua-cam.com/video/JPZ4ccFXMQg/v-deo.html
Thanks. These ramps are available at Pep Boys here in San Diego for $29.95 a pair.
How do I know if my trans fluid is low in my 08 6spd ? Unfortunately I just got the car last week , everytime I go into first gear and go back into neutral I hear a thunk/clunk whenever I release the clutch also kinda sounds like a whirring sound ? Would you have an idea ? My buddy mechanic said pivot bearing , or input shaft bearing , or could be the trans even tho last owner said it was replaced
To check the level, remove the upper fill plug and oil should be right there are slowly dripping out. Just like what is shown in the video.
The Nissan/Infiniti 6 speed manual trans is very strong, but also a little loud in gear whine and whirring sounds. That is normal.
As for the "thud/clunk" sound, without hearing it, I have no idea. It could be normal or something worn.
If you hear it when moving slowly, and pushing the clutch it, it’s normal. Manuals make noise. My Suzuki manual would sometimes clunk while crawling or in traffic when pushing the clutch in.
What hand tools did you need exactly for this job ?
10mm allen key
@@MotorvateDIY Thanks for the reply! Infiniti says a full “fluid exchange” would take 3 1/2 quarts. And a drain and fill would take about 2. Do you recommend doing this process once like you showed in the video then again after driving for about a month?
my cars only got 22k miles on it but it’ll lock me out of 1st gear / some gears feel a bit clunky. Would this be result of low transmission fluid / maybe some particular in the original fluid?
if I’m not completely stopped my car tends to lock out of first, not all the time though but I have to either shift to second at 5+mph or completely stop at stop signs 😭🤣
I don't think so. 22,000 miles is very low, so everything should be in good condition.
Sounds normal to me, my G37 is exactly the same.
So I’m at 200k mileage and was thinking on changing my fluid soon but I’ve heard it’s not good to change the tranny fluid at a high mileage due to “friction” is this true??
I assume you have a manual transmission... and in that case, there is no chance of anything going wrong or causing issues. Just make sure to use the correct manual transmission oil.
If you have an automatic transmission, I really don't know if changing it at 200,000 miles is good or bad, as I don't have any experience with automatic transmissions.
@@MotorvateDIY awesome thanks for the response
What’s the name of oil and the tool used to put the oil in
It is the OEM Nissan manual transmission oil, purchased at the dealer.
2 years old but thought I’d ask anyways, I have an infiniti g25 with 98,000 miles, the automatic transmission fluid is near black... I want to change it but I heard doing so this late can cause the transmission to slip... not sure what to do, what would you guys recommend? Leave it as is or change it ?
Hey Abraham Colon,
Since my G37 has a manual transmission, I don't have any first hand experience with the 7 speed automatic transmissions.
BUT, if that G25 was my car, I would change the fluid. The fluid color should be red and not near black.
Here is a link to other that have changed their fluid with similar mileage:

Motorvate DIY - Awesome! Thanks so much for replying even though I was two years late to this video lol I really appreciate it!
No problem. Enjoy your G25 :)
Motorvate DIY - Sure will! Still runs great 🙏🏽 by any chance do you plan on doing a power steering fluid change?
Just went through your videos and you have one up already! Sweet (:
No crush washer on the trans drain bolt?
Great catch! Yes there is one, and I can't believe I didn't mention it. It was stuck to the drain plug and can be reused without leaking.
Another awesome video. Is the process the same for an automatic?
Thank you and I am happy you liked it :)
The automatic transmission fluid change is VERY different. There is no dip stick to check the level, you need to build or buy an adapter to fill it to the proper level when the fluid is at a specific temperature. This link might help you: www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-installations-modifications/267513-g37-transmission-fluid-change-pan-drop-clean.html
Good luck!
Do you reckon you could have a video describing the process please
Hey Edumacations95,
Sorry, but since my car is a 6 speed manual, I can't make a video on something I don't have.
Don't suppose you borrowed an automatic to do a video? :)
@@davidferris9392 Once the lock down is over, that might not be a bad idea. :)
Will this help with my 5th gear grinding on my 2009 370z 16k miles that started happening recently?
It's hard to say, but it is the lowest cost/easiest thing you can try.
Is this the same for auto trans.
Hey MostHated818,
No, changing the automatic transmission fluid is very different and more difficult.
Have a look at myg37.com to find out how others have done it.
How does your G37 shift? My 07 G35 6MT shifts hard. It bucks back and forth when going from 1st to 2nd or when down shifting in the lower gears. I've read other drivers having the same complaints about the manual transmissions. I've read different forums on what causes it, but never got a definite answer with a bunch of mixed results.
Hey postersurfman1,
The 1-2 shift on my G37 is VERY tricky to do well... However, after fixing my blown differential bushing (Episode to be published late Nov 2017: $20 Diff bushing fix in 20 minutes) it is much better.
Are there any signs of fluid dripping on the rear of the diff, sub-frame or on the exhaust by the diff?
If the diff bushing is ruptured, the silicone fluid leaks out and results in a much softer bushing where the differential has much more movement.
This may results in more driveline "bounce" especially when in first or second.
Check your diff and let me know.
Just had an additional thought, a dirty throttle body reduces the ability of the ECU to provide "fine" (small air flow control) and results in a choppy throttle. After I cleaned my throttle body a few weeks ago, the 1-2 shift was improved.
Try this: Set you cruise control on doing about 50-60 MPH, and use the steering wheel control to speed up a little.
Is the speed increase smooth or abrupt?
its the crappy clutch pedal also, there is an aftermarket adjustable one that everyone swears by
Good videos!! Where do you get your torque specs?
Hey Dillon Griggs,
The factory shop manual.... Google nicoclub G37 shop manual
What size is the hex nut u used
Hey James Nunez,
The drain and fill plugs on the differential and manual transmission are all 10mm.
So how much quarts does and 370z take? The same as a g37?
Yes and about 2.8 litres / 3 quarts.
Hi. I changed my MT oil following this super video. I changed my drain gasket but not my fill gasket… do you think I will have leak issue by the fill bolt ?
You should be fine... just check it for drips for the next few days.
@@MotorvateDIY Thanks !
Motorvate I have a 370z automatic transmission the car is at 44k miles. manual says the trans is "maintenance free" is it really maintenance free? I don't believe in that, its maintenance free for the life of the trans. Can I still have the trans drain and filter change at 60k miles? I live next to a performance shop that specializes with infinity and Z cars.
Hey ItAintGaY,
Since I have the 6 speed manual, I have not studied the 7 speed auto.
However, if I had an automatic, I would absolute change the automatic transmission fluid at 60,000 miles with ONLY Nissan MATIC S fluid. I don't trust the other fluids that say they are "compatible"
Automatic transmission fluid has a tough life... It is the coolant, lubricant and hydraulic fluid all in one...
Motorvate DIY thanks
Is this the same process for automatics?
Hey PyReDZN,
Not at all. Each automatic transmission has a specific process that needs to be followed and many require special tools which makes it difficult for the DIYer.
Hi Can i use ravenol Tgs 75w90 ?
Sure... any 75W90 should be good.
where’s the video of you clearing the airbag light??
Hey AnthonyTheKoon,
That video is on my other channel: OBD4Everyone
Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/g3bMDC_41qc/v-deo.html
Please send link of where to purchase the oil please
I don't have a link, as I picked up this oil at my local Nissan / Infiniti dealer.
@@MotorvateDIY that’s what I ended up doing , 4 qts for 80$ pretty pricey but not as expensive as letting a shop charge me for the labor.
You gotta love the simplicity of servicing a manual trans.... except for the pesky CSC xD
Hey Ian,
Agreed. I am on my 3rd CSC at 115,000 miles.
@@MotorvateDIY What is a CSC is you don't mind me asking and what is an example of a car with one?
CSC = concentric slave cylinder.
This is a hydraulic device connected to the clutch pedal to disengage the clutch.
The G37 and 370z have one.
When changing the manual transmission fluid, does the car need to be on all 4 jacks to make it level or will only the front two suffice?
Same question for the rear diff fluid.
I want to thank you so much for your how to videos. It has taken lots of stress off about doing my own repairs!
Generally, having the car level is best, as it ensures the correct fluid level.
Thanks for kind words and I'm glad my channel's videos reduce your stress :)

Transmision hard shifting. Gearshift indicator not light. Engine rpm indicator and service engine soon blinking. Engine fuel consumption blinking. Vehicle work normal, but sometimes shifts from 5 to 4 while driving. Or jerks mowing without indicators
Hey Aligators410 Aligators410,
Anytime there is a "U1000" code, it needs to be troubleshooted first as it has the highest priority.
The U1000 code means the transmission module and the engine module can't communicate on the CAN bus. It could be a broken wire to a bad module. Generally special tools and knowledge are required to troubleshoot this. It might be best to take it to the dealer or a shop that specializes in Infiniti's.
Good luck!
@@MotorvateDIY Thank you. In my country (now even in Europe), Infiniti did not sell or service. Nissan also does not repair. You don't know which particular cable and where it might be broken? The connector on the gearbox is not accessable. OBD in TCM shows P05136
@@AligatorsAligators The connector on side of the transmission has the CAN bus wires. BUT we don't know if it is a broken wire or bad module or even a poor/corroded connection.
To troubleshoot this special tools and skills are required and this isn't something that can be done over the internet. Sorry, but I don't know what else I can do :(
Good luck.
So only 3 quarts to fill up the transmission
Correct!
Is this easy omg I took mine to the dealer ship my is leaking from the plug 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Now you know... it is super easy :)
No need to start and row through gears and recheck, correct? I think that’s just autos
Correct!
In a manual transmission, the gear oil is only used to lubricate and cool.
Automatics have many small passages and the air needs to be pushed (bled) out... That's why you move between park, reverse, neutral etc.
Thanks again brother saved me $$ and potentially being over charged by the local Indian mechanics haha
Excellent! I'm glad to help :)
Oh my car is 80000 milles, can you guive a opinion pls
Hey Blac Blac,
If you plan on keeping the car a long time (more than 5+ years), I would change the fluid.
If you do change the fluid, it is very important to use the fluid recommend in the owner's manual.
Other fluids may not have the proper friction coefficient and can make the shifting difficult / harsh.
(The syncros won't work well if the fluid is too slippery and the shifting will be much more "clunky ")
