This song is so heart warming..brings to mind of the Irish nation and individuals who saw abject poverty ..and many struggles .. This was played at my aunties funeral today who’s mother came from enniskillen and had strong Irish connections ..the harmonies and the way their voices connect, is something that brings to mind the wonderful old Ireland and its inhabitants..this is no doubt the best version of the “ Red is the rose” ever ..Thank you 🌹🌹🌹
So very beautiful. The dear Grandmother (Sarah McAllister) who raised me was half Irish and she taught me many Irish songs and poems. May God be with old Ireland forever and ever.
My first love was a beautiful Irish boy...didn't pan out but when I hear these songs I still think of him fondly. These guys have done some great songs.
Lovely and touching. This was after John's beloved mom, Hope, had passed away. He had asked the management of the Tenors for time off to deal with family matters and they refused so he had to bow out of this concert but due to a GREAT deal of protests from John's legion of fans, they invited him to sing two songs, this being one. Such a sweet version but watching John's face still brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for posting this. How did 6 think this wasn't good? Duh.
Used to hear this sung along the Prom in the Isle of Man of a summer’s’ evening, when I was a child. We had a lot of Irish workers come over for the season. From both NI and Eire.
Had to watch this after finding out my dear Irish uncle passed away. This trio was the first concert I ever saw on Long Island when I was 14 and they are really special. I remember meeting them all backstage and they are just the kindest people. Thank you then and thank you now for this beautiful rendition. ❤️☘️
Where on earth have these beautiful singers been? They are much better the orginal 3 Tenors. Please come to the UK and perform on the TV and show all the people what they have been missing! Please, please please come!
Thumbs up, Mr Studio :) John owns whatever song he sings. The hardest part of this was seeing the pain etched into his face. When Ronan sings his part, look at John's face. He was struggling to hold himself together. His whole heart was in both songs that he sang that night.
@@liamatkins452 Yes the tears were there. He was grieving his Mom as he sang. Knowing John, he was singing to her in his heart. He is not afraid to show emotions.
It might be of further interest to note that the author of the lyrics of the Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond is unknown but it would be safe to assume he was a Scot. But the origin of the tune is also unknown and it would not be so safe to conclude it was Scottish in origin given how old tunes have passed back and forth across the British Isles.
As someone who has studied classical voice I don't like to hear John McDermott all that much. Why? He has a good voice but incorrectly sings in an annoying way through his nose in an apparent attempt to obtain resonance. He needs a better teacher and I'm not kidding. The other 2 singers are beautifully trained and sing with correct technique.. Clear and open.

Irish ballads are so meaningful and beautiful so may tenors forever bring us the greatness and beauty
@elliotportner8020.......the ballads irish written in the 1930s....the melodies scottish taken from loch lomond written in the 1800s..
I sang this many a night for my daughter, Bonny Rose, and it is a sweet, sweet memory.
We are Filipinos but our Tatay taught us Irish airs/songs when were young children.
this is the best version of this song, hands down.
There are not enough superlatives to describe the awesome talent on display here. Beyond awesome.
Incredible love for Ireland. I am Russian, but these culture, poetry, literature are forever in my heart
I Love The Irish Tenors. Look Forward to St Patrick's Day 2023. I Love The Irish Music and Melody's and Pub songs.
@ginger2863......the melody is scottish from the older sang loch lomond.
That is it. The Irish have the biggest heart of all
I love Irish songs because the lyrics are always so meaningful and the melodies are so tuneful.
my long past Mothers favorite......may Joh McDermott live and record forever! Loved all three but John put the songs right into my heart
Hauntingly beautiful.
All the Irish Tenors are special, but there's something incredibly special about this combination singing this song.
This is the album where John wasn't involved, it was really nice that they let him back to sing this song.
The only reason I bought the CD was because John was on it!!

Although being Dutch I lost my heart to Ireland and its music 30 years ago, and this music makes me longing for Ireland again
I love this version! I first heard them sing it decades ago on a US tour.
I wish I had a love like that...alas, not in this lifetime.
Love the Tenors...I trace my Irish heritage back to 355 so the blood runs deep...GOD'S blessings on Ireland forever!
I met John some years ago at Gaelic Park, in Oak Forest, Illinois, for Irish Fest. His dad was born in Galway as my grandfather was.

I'm a McAllister from Northern Ireland.
Was your grandmother from Donegal ?
Beautiful, just beautiful. My favorite version of this song by far! Thank you for posting.
The most beautiful Irish song, and the most beautiful rendition I have heard - I miss my Irish Dad! This one is for you, Dad!

100% agree that this is the best rendition out there. Gotta love orchestral/symphonic accompaniment.
Have s listen to Nina Simone singing last Rose of Summer
These singers get me straight in the ticker. You can't ask for anything better.

Diana Snow Same here. Kieran was his name. 💙 I'll never forget my first love.
Dearest John you are my favourite especially when you sing The Old Man the day it hsppened! May yours and mine R.I.P.

Which one is John?
@@rigaudien The really good looking one with the curly hair wearing the suit. He starts out the song.

If you didn't know, John sang this with Anthony and Ronan shortly after losing his Mom. You can really see and feel his emotion in this performance.

Wow, these guys all have incredible voices. Individually they each are even stronger than I was expecting.
,those Irish tenors are so beautiful

This beautiful version of this song is real and so full of genuine feeling for the message of the song.
That's the most beautiful song I've ever heard.
Danny boy
LOVE this song! Here I am with my red garden rose...The BEST smelling rose in my garden!
I like the way lilacs smell.
Dermott Studio m
Could you please say I love you instead of love you? We need to make it personal for each other because that's how love is it's personal.
Wonderful💜
Phenomenal version.
Absolutely beautiful 💕💕💕💕
my heart feels real pain
I love your .music!
Sweet to listen to, great voices and the combine so well
This is a lovely rendition. I like it alot!
Thank you for kindly sharing your gift, John.
All the best. Brings back memories of listening Irish music growing up with my Irish Mom and still loving it.
Fantastic.
I agree.
Incredible
Very thanks!
Very welcome!
Dermott Studio Thank you for such pure heart.

👌 absolutely perfect...🌹
I'm singing this song in a talent show next month. I can't wait.
I hope it goes well :)
What a great song! Best of luck to you!! :-)
Joe Grantham did you win
Simply beautiful! Thank you!
Beautiful! 👏👏👏👏👏
Wonderful version, thank you!
So beautiful mind! Thank you very much!
BEAUTIFUL
this version is awesome but, if you listen to the high kings version, it has much more of a real feel. like a more relatable feeling.
Beh! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion- even if their opinion is wrong ;)

These lads have way better voices than the High Kings...Class act..
ShyMoonheart I think I saw tears from his face before they changed the camera

sounds like the bonnie banks of loch lomond. Did the irish steal this?
no they borrowed the tune
They will give it back after the Ulster Scots give back the land they stole from the Irish and go back to Scotland where they came from.
Well that being the case maybe they could move to America and join their inbred cousins in Appalachia.
It might be of further interest to note that the author of the lyrics of the Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond is unknown but it would be safe to assume he was a Scot. Are you referring to John? He tours with his own group, currently up in canada.

Sounds a lot like loch Lomond still nice though
