Love your games and mechanics most, Jason Iron Helm, Desolate, Tin Helm, Gate and Zogar’s revenge are included in my favorite tabletop game collections They are just two-thumbs up👍👍 I’m always looking forward to seeing your incredible works and just loving to get Dustrunner in this April😍 I’m sorry to hear personal news hope you take care
Glad to hear you're keeping the dream alive. I literally just discovered your games and bought like four of them. I think the tiny yet complex solo game is such a great idea and is something I've been looking for for ages. So yeah man, take care of yourself, do what's best for you. I'm glad I've found your stuff. Cheers mang.
great ideas behind Dust Runner... hopefully the enemy/enemies can also gain/equip MODS (maybe at the beginning of the game choose a random MOD or 2 for the enemy chase vehicle).... more variety in enemy power while also removing a potentially wanted item forcing the player to switch strategies!
I am happy you are not leaving I am currently watching all your videos, as an aspirying developer these have been amazing. Still a little bit behind but I am getting there. I was wondering could you make a video on your art setup/tools?
glad you're back in the flow jason! this looks like a fun one, and its awesome to see some of your process. going through the same for a project myself, and I really love the process of development. Thought: would be cool to have some Special Location/Event Cards along the track, like the ones in tin helm:labyrinth, etc etc Cheers!
I'm really glad you stuck with us, Jason! The community certainly would've missed you. Your idea of a resolution deck has me excited, as I've thought of something similar since your video about multi-function cards and "Oh My Goods". I'm really looking forward to seeing where you take it.
I only play solo, and I have all your solo games. You have a lot of fans. Sometimes the loudest voices are the negative ones, doesn't mean that is how the rest of the community feels. Your contributions would very much be missed. I was so sad when I read that post that you were not going to be designing anymore.
I love all of your games and I wish I could be as creative as you, so super excited to see you back at it. Sorry to hear about the difficult times. Several of us have been there ourselves and even though every situation is different we can relate. Great to see your spirits have improved and you're back at the creativity. Keep up the great work! Can't wait for your next projects to be released.
Looks great so far. Can't wait to see how this progress is. Love the theme of dustrunner and the tin games in general. Thank you for sharing and I'm glad you are back at it.
I love this series, and am really glad to hear you're continuing to develop games. I discovered Iron Helm during the pandemic and it, and the subsequent releases, have been some of my favorite pastimes. I don't go anywhere without Tin Helm in my backpack. You're an awesome designer and these videos continue to be so valuable to anyone interested in how games are made.
This would probably be too much for the size of the game, but since its survival maybe something crafting related like food, or medicine. Maybe a card that has a foraged items track. You need x of this to make medicine, or armor, or something like that. Give it a certainly probability of success like roll 1-2 = failure. And having the track at max adds a +× to the roll. Food track might be cool since food is needed for survival.
Glad you are doing better and getting back to game design- looking forward to more of the design process plus the artwork! Idea- cards you pick up which modify your dust runner? More speed, armor, weapons ? Maybe “buy” your initial dust runner (spend points for your choice of engines, weapons, armor, accessories? -each has thing has advantages or disadvantages? - thanks!
You know what, I love that idea! I am hoping I can cut the resolution deck size down a bit to allow for a few more mod cards. I love the idea of having each mod having a cost and allowing the player to build their dustrunner at the beginning of the game. That really strikes the notion of player investment. If a player dies, they may blame their own choices and not the game, and I am always trying to create that illusion the best I can by creating choice. Great idea and I plan to use it! Thanks!
I'm so happy you came back! You're my favorite game designer and I'm really excited about this one and Underquest. Take as much time as you need for your personal life, I'm sure all your fan will wait patiently.
