- Smokey Robinson wrote the biggest hit of his songwriting career not for The Miracles, but for The Temptations. Robinson knew that if he could get The Temptations baritone David Ruffin to sing something sweet, the girls would go crazy. So, he wrote “My Girl,” which has become an international anthem, recognizable from its first bass line. This memorable ode to love became a No. 1 hit and was inducted into the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress. My husband would always request this ..dedicated to me…..we stop now and dance to it and grin ear to ear. It’s been 54 years. I was a little tiny thing when we married..and loved everyone and enjoyed just about everything. He was in the Air Force in England…we were married there. Loved it . He is My Guy!
50’s and60’s music was the best!! We don’t hear anything like that anymore. So romantic ,, beautiful , sweet and tender lyrics. Wonderful music!!!

Grew up with motown. Lived 20 minutes north of Detroit. Many times cruising in my car I just wanted to head on down to Detroit and see where this music was coming from.
When i was younger and hear Smokey Robinson. I just fall in love with him. I went anx brought all his music. And mh ex husband knew i love Smokey Robinson. He is AWESOME man

Lived a few blocks from Motown. Always passed it while going to the library. My Grandmother always told us not to go in there. So, after grown and two children later is when I tour Hitsville USA Motown.🤣🤣🤣
Whites Record Shop was in the area. In those times WCHB AND WJLB would broadcast live and bring us the hottest, newest music. Soul Day at Northwestern High School and Many Motown Artist performed at the Olympic Stadium. Grand Ricer & McGraw not far from Motown.
Miss those days! Thankful for Memories and Grateful for being born and raised in Detroit.

However it was also co- written by Ronnie White. They both wrote the songs for the wives at the time. He may have give the songs to The Temptations. But both songwriter's were inspired by their wives.
