@@cycyshawty2866 ummm we can start with Elden Ring… lol. And ya know… the game that beat Rdr2 for Game of the year… GoW2018.
And also this new Tears of the Kingdom 30 hours in, is probably the best video game I’ve ever played. It hasn’t released yet but got early copy. So if I was comparing games with scores
Tears of the kingdom: 10/10
Elden Ring: 10/10
GoW2018: 9/10
Halo 2: 9/10
Halo 3: 9/10
Skyrim: 9/10
Rdr2: 8/10
Breath of the Wild: 8/10
Sekiro: 8/10
Gta5: 8/10
The Witcher 3: 8/10
The last of us (PART ONE LOL): 8/10
Hogwarts Legacy: 7/10
Smash bros Ultimate: 7/10
GoW Ragnarok: 6/10
Cyberpunk: 5/10
The last of us part 2: 4/10
@@cycyshawty2866 ok honestly Rdr2 is a special game, but I’m pretty harsh when it comes to review scores. To me an amazing game could still be a 8/10
But average games are like 4/10 or 5/10 like your typical assassins creed
I grade this way so its easier to separate the average from good and good from great. So if I give Assassins creed a 7/10 but the witcher 3 or Red Dead a 9/10 that makes pretty much no sense because both games are far and away better than Assassins Creed
@@cycyshawty2866 I mean I’m sure you’ll disagree with everything I have to say but I just think there are a few games the past 20 years that were better than Rdr2
@@cycyshawty2866 I love Rdr2 but wish there was more to do. Its just not quite up there with the best games of all time.
This was a game made for those who enjoy taking their time and get immersed. If you rush through it as Charlie obviously has, you miss A LOT and it may not feel like anything special.
Yeah you are obliged to just stand and watch the sunset or go hunt the legendary animals, go into random houses on the map etx
@@DailyShit. that's not what the comment said. There is a lot of content besides the story which is immersive and funy but when you only rush though the story you won't see how incredible the game is. Noone said anyone was obliged to do it, but for a review it's necessary
He's a entrepreneur. He got no time
Charlie tends to dislike my favorite games for the exact reasons they are my favorite games. There are plenty of other fast paced ADHD games out there that are a blast. We don't need more. The game industry desperately needs more slow burn games.
@@bravingbrivatebrian He is a speedrunner at the end of the day. I don't take his opinion on what makes a game good seriously whatsoever. This is a totally braindead take from Charlie.
In red dead redemption 2 it really makes you feel like a feller.

Makes me feel like a good boah
7/10 has a little something for everyone
2/10 too many cowboys
1/10 too much grass
Completely disagree on the world feeling "empty". This game has one of the most realised and interesting worlds ever created in my opinion.
Agreed. It was chock filled. I used fast travel like three time in my 80hr playthrough.
Really though? I rode with John (after Arthur dies) for like an hour just South West into the desert and barely did anything the entire time.
Edit: I have since revisited Rdr2 and played it slowly, really enjoying the experience as thoroughly as possible and while I think it’s far from perfect, it is a very good game.
@@samuelabbottchannel wrong game
It's the least empty open world on the planet
@@samuelabbottchannel New austin is more of an easter egg for completing the game than part of the actual map.
You know its a masterpiece when the main complaint is looting beans takes too long.
Yes
literally 💀💀💀
Underrated comment
That was just an example of the overall misstep in regard to the over immersion aspects of the game which I definitely agree it’s way to much and certain personalities definitely find this game boring
Edit: and tedious
I think I have a counter argument for the looting complaint. For this we need to consider what do we get from looting NPCs.
What we usually get for looting random NPCs is money, consumables (like cigarettes and stuff) and sometimes jewellery that we can sell for more money. All of these items are neither rare nor do they require a ton of effort to obtain in the game. Sure you can loot the bodies if you want, but enemies are not the main source of these items. Bcoz you're gonna get a ton of those items simply playing the game. And most of the time you can play for hours if you have a few of those items on hand without needing to refill your inventory every few minutes. Money is also never an issue and you have plenty of money all the time, and even if you don't, looting NPCs is not the way to earn money bcoz they have cents on them at a time, so you don't need to loot if you don't want and you also won't miss out on anything.
On the other hand, something that you will consume and run out of a lot is ammunition. This is where the game has made it much easier to loot ammunition. Just like the other items mentioned before, ammunition is also something that you find on enemies. Except this time enemies are the main source of ammunition. Sure you can buy ammo at a store, but when you're in the middle of the desert or the swamp and run low on ammo (which will happen a lot), you probably won't go all the way back to town to buy some cartridges. So what do you do? You kill NPCs and loot their ammo. But unlike the other items you don't need to manually loot each NPC for ammo, you can simply walk past them and Arthur will pick it up. That's how the game has made it be realistic for those who would want to get immersed and loot each body, while not making it frustrating for people who don't want to do that.
I found it interesting that he called Saint Denis the beautiful part of the game when it's supposed to be the opposite. It's meant to be the grimy smoggy industrial hell that contrasts with the more beautiful open wilderness parts of the map, fitting the theme of the stifling dreariness of civilization overtaking the free sprit of the west
I guess Charlie is just more of a city person lol
what are you talking about, riding through saint denis at night time makes me cream everywhere. the yellow lighting with the blue sky on a quiet street as you hear the horse gallop is something soo amazing. and i love the other places just as much, but saint denis is bealutiful

When you're looking at Saint Denis from a distance that's true, but when you're in the city it feels so alive and bustling, and as clearly evident by how fast Charlie was trying to bulldoze through the game he did not take the moment to sight see the city from outside because it is beautiful once you're in.

I was actually completely fine with all of it, which is surprising because of my ADHD. I completely disagreed with Charlie on the alleged “emptiness” of the game between towns. IMO, the space is filled to the brim with wildlife, strange encounters, and overall just beautiful views and angles every which way you turn. So far, I’ve probably put a good 60 hours into the game and not once have I ever taken the train.
@@JK-ei7wr it's about immersion, if you're trying to stream for the lulz you're probably not gonna get sucked into being a cowboy. It's about spending an evening hunting for pelts in the woods. Incredible game.
This video was randomly recommended to me today; honestly, charlie was way off here. Clearly, he speed-ran through the game. I finished it in 4 months and it is still the best experience I have had with a game.
How the fuck do you complete a game in 4 months
I had trouble in the beginning of playing, because of how slow it was. After a week I came back and decided I would immerse myself, I've played the game twice now and I agree, these peoples problems with rdr2 is just because they wish they could speed run stories in less than a day.
And for him to say they didn't change the gameplay from rdr, just shows he barely played almost. He may have played through the story, but he clearly didn't actually PLAY.
I don’t want a game to take 4 months to beat that’s ridiculous. The games cool but it is wayyyy to slow placed a slow burning story is fine but the game straight up isn’t fun at certain points.
@@mernky3562 yeah, it does take too long to set up sometimes. It's a VERY slow burn. I personally enjoyed it because I bought it during quarantine, but if you have a life you can't really make up the time to truly enjoy the game
I love how Charlie's first complaint is he can't pick up beans and useless trinkets off a body fast enough😂
A game should be realistic to assuage your immersion into the word you are engrossed in....but at the same time it shouldn't be that realistic to the point where it blends itself in with the real word you are trying to escape from. In some cases, developers should just capitalize on the fact that this is a video game, and you can cut corners here and there. Image in Dark Souls you had to watch your character refill every individual flask when you rest at a bonfire with a laborious animation just for the sake of immersion and realism.

Well said
Yeah but the thing is that reviews are supposed to be used as if a game is good or not. Not if a game is good for the reviewer to enjoy or not, if that’s confusing I’m sorry it’s not easy to explain
Nope. It's not the "slowness" that puts people off, it's the clunkiness. RDR2 is an insanely sluggish game with awful mechanics. It's so bad that it's almost unplayable on free aim(no auto aim).
Its a very convenient excuse to say it's slow and realistic but the truth is it's just very badly design from a gameplay standpoint. If people don't stop nuthugging rockstar and praising them all the time, the bad controls will be a standard for their games.
For me it's an almost perfect game. You have to take your time, it is a slow burn. If you let yourself become immersed, this is one of the finest games ever made.
Literally, everyone complains about slow gameplay, looting takes forever, I love the immersion, it made me feel like I was Arthur, I agree looting bodies takes forever but, literally after you rob the bank in Valentine, I barely looted bodies anymore because anything the NPC's carried was so insignificant it really didn't matter cuz I just bought ammo, and healing items from the store.

"World is empty." This game is so alive I watched a hawk swoop down and pick up a snake out of a lake. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE GAME IS EMPTY!?
What's the point of that though? How does it serve the gameplay in any way? It's just icing that means absolutely nothing if the cake tastes like shit. If you like the gameplay as it is, I bet stuff like that adds a ton. But if you are nothing but bored by the gameplay it does nothing. Well, it might serve as escapism from the game for 2 seconds lol. Personally, I play games because they themselves serve as the escapism. In their entirety.
@@Sandlund93This game is anything but empty. Yup everyone who doesn’t like the thing you like has a small attention span. I read a lot of books every day. I watch dry ass cinema. When I play games, I judge them on the merits of the video game medium, which is gameplay. As a video game, rdr2 is clunky and outdated and limiting. Yeah same, the flaws weren't noticable enough to even be considered flaws. The only real major flaw for me was the shitty mechanics when you are going up a hill on foot or on a horse, your character just fucking ragdolls and dies or your horse will just slide all the way down the mountain. It's amazing to hear that Charlie thought the world felt empty. This is genuinely one of the most densely packed and eventful worlds that's ever been in a game. And that's a fact. What about the insane amount of random encounters? You can barely ride for 2 minutes without some interesting little interaction of some kind. There are also so many treasures to find and side quests to do it's hard to even keep track, all of which are unique as hell. What about all of the little shacks and houses scattered endlessly across the map? Each of which tells its own story, many of which are seriously interesting. The alien cult. The meteor-stricken house. The guy who speaks like he's from the future. The wife and fat guy who try to drug you. I generally agree with Charlie about things but here, I think it's fair to say he's objectively wrong on the empty world point.
Ive played this game for a good year now, Ive finished it twice and have ( at a guess) well over 200 hours in it, and yesterday I did a string of side missions I never knew existed. I also come across random encounters ive never seen before very often

@Ghost well games like the elder scrolls skyrim invest alot of money into the soundtrack, and bethesda for instance has worked with this guy Jeremy seol I belive his name is, and he has made a lot of the soundtracks for the elder scrolls games, and he usually gets his recognition in reviews.

Man I really hope Rockstar double downs on the immersive side of things. Despite the valid complaints for having an animation for everything like looting, I really enjoy those bits the most and think it’s precisely what makes this game stand out over its competition. It seems like every game these days is built for 30 second attention spans, and for once felt great to be in a world that knows it has quality content, and has no need to rush you in getting there.
Stop dick riding king
I disagree. You don't *have* to loot every single body. The game doesn't force you to loot every single body nor are you supposed to loot every single body. If you did that, that's on you, Charlie. What a damn stupid move. The game is supposed to give you a immersive and realistic experience, so game mechanics such as picking up food items and looting up people individually are good, not bad. It's the small little details that truly makes this game stand out compared to others. That's why it had the pace that it had. It worked in its favor.
As for the world being empty, that's complete bs. One of the biggest strengths of Red Dead Redemption 2 is the world itself. You get to explore all of it and there's many activities for each place. There's no place where I felt like I didn't get enough exploration or details. I also didn't feel like the world was "empty". It easily has the best open-world compared to all other open-world games. I don't want to write too long, but Red Dead Redemption 2 is truly one of the best if not the best video games ever made. It deserves 10/10 rating or 100%. And this is coming from a guy who's neutral and not even a big Rockstar Games fan. I just bought and played it with no expectations and ended up playing a masterpiece.
PS: All your complaints just says how much of a masterpiece this game is. Those weren't even complaints, those were one of the strengths of the game.
