  • Central heating radiators are real dust traps. Also they loose efficiency, so costing you more money to run. Trying to clean the dust out with the top and side grills on can be an impossible job. Here are three radiators two with similar fixings and one wraparound grill type, that I have taken outside to show more clearly how to get the grills off.

I did an experiment at home with by clearing out the fins, took before and after temperatures, by clearing dust and fluff and debris from the rear of radiators it gained 6 degrees more of heat👍🏻

Hello, your videos I’ve seen so far look great for newer and simpler radiators … ours look older and seem to have more details and complications! eg. the holes on the side panels are much smaller so they do not lift up very far at all, they must pull off outwards rather than upwards and there’s washer-type thing seems to be attached around the hole at the top of the panel, I just can’t slide it over the nut of the radiator.
    Grateful for any help!

I'd like to know what you use to clean down between those tight slats. I also have column radiators (a couple of them triple) and it's a nightmare trying to get in between.

I have a griddle at the top which has metal bent round on each end to secure it. Seems no way to get off. No clips. It's like they put on end in, lowered it on top and bent the othet clips in. As said, not clips but bent metal clips. Can I send a photo if you don't understand?

The best way I find is when you have the grills off use a hand held steam cleaner they get rid of all of the dust far better than the brushes
