    Helpful review.
I own a Df having started with 35mm Nikons' (EL/ELW/FE/F3/4/5).
Nikon made this camera exclusively for me - I told them to replicate a DSLR from the FE.
A creative camera, understand light and color, be creative, + excellent battery = just fun.
If you want to take pictures rather than fire buttons - this is a superb camera.

Nikon Df is called the "Low Light Master". In my optics, this is not a question of how high this camera can reach, in high ISO mode, on the contrary, how low an ISO setting can be selected, at long exposure. Nikon Df has a brilliant ability in this discipline that I have not yet found, by other cameras.
To that end, I see, notwithstanding, the same sensor is used in D4 and D4s, in Df is unlocked, and works beyond the work area of the professional models. Speed (FPS) is not a parameter to count when creativity is in focus.
Furthermore, I see the 16 MP as a strength as it is ample for even the most discerning. Cropping and framing are done in the exposure process, not in Photoshop. It raises the technical quality of the end product.
Nikon Df seems in my hands like a digitized version of the legendary Nikon F3. Manual settings provide an instant overview without having to consult several menus to find out how the camera is configured.
In my optics, the Nikon Df is the most excellent camera produced in the digital age. There are two wishes for how this wonderful camera can be made even better: Switch to a CCD sensor and expand to two memory cards. -Such a camera must definitely become the ultimate camera for creative living.
Nikon Df: A camera that is given my highest possible recommendation.

Thank you Leigh! I appreciate your tutorial more than the book.
I’m OLD, and this camera is right up my alley! Just got it and I can’t wait to get out and use it- and feel the same way about my camera as I did in 1980!

Thanks for this! Just purchased a Mint DF for a thousand bucks and a few nikkor manual focus lenses. Loving this mini D4 set up for walk around shooting!

Superb. Such a thorough video. It's like the whole manual content in one video.
I own this camera. Personally, I really appreciate the deviation from the main line of DSLR offerings by Nikon. This still-photography camera helps me to appreciate photography on another level - It's a nice break from being in the mindset of commercial photography. I'm also able to use my dad's pre-Ai lenses which adds a vintage effect. This is like a treasure chest that only this model offers, which many people have not realized. The nikkor legacy is deep and rich. Great lenses go back almost 100 years in history. I'm looking forward to explore the character of those lenses.

Very helpful, indeed. I am experimenting with mobile photography and I use in-camera retouch a lot. I have elaborated my workflow: shoot NEF, in-camera retouch to Jpeg, print directly from camera via USB (PictBridge) onto SELPHY CP1200, upload via WU-1a to mobile phone; upload to dropbox/flickr/facebook/Instagram and/or print to Polaroid ZIP via Bluetooth.

Every cameramaker should attach a USB-stick in the box with a video like this! Take notice Nikon/Canon etc.!

I own four cameras, a D810, D500 Df and my newest a Fuji X-T2. I really enjoy all four and they all have their good points and bad points, but I have to say with these four it's pretty hard to come up with bad points. The D810 and D500 are just spectacular. The Fuji is really taking me a little while to master and I bought it because I'm 70 and have a back problem and the light Fuji is a God send. Then comes the Df. I just love that camera but out of the four it has the most problems. The single card slot and poor focusing is just sad on a camera at that price point. The images are to die for if you have the light or use a speed light. I could care less about the lack of video and this camera is really fun to go out and shoot with. I don't think I would own it if it was my only camera but as a second camera it's just a delight to own. I was thinking of selling my Df and put it on three sites. After three weeks, I couldn't take it anymore and deleted the adds. I swear to God, they can just bury me with my Df. I love, love, love it! You Df haters can kiss my Nikon loving back side. PS. I love you Snapchick.

I have the DF as my only camera and it works fine, actually perfect. I’m not 70 years old, so maybe just different crowd... got rid of my XT2 because I’m not made of money, and I much prefer the classic DSLr feel and look
