Nikon Df Overview - Is it the camera for YOU?

- A look at the Nikon Df which was released (not produced as I say in the video) in the UK in November 2013.
Many users have mentioned elsewhere that the Df struggles to autofocus in low light. I always use autofocus cameras in single centre point mode and don't have a problem. Using the 9 centre point setting should work just as good as they are all cross type focusing points.

I have watched all reviews on the Df and yours is by far the best. It's a prime example of why someone with an extensive film camera background needs to do the review. You can understand Nikons idea for the camera and why it was designed like it was. Great review thanks. P.S. I think your right there won't be a second iteration, which is a real shame, I think it's a great alternative to your average digital camera!

I think that your review is really special. Yes - due to your editing problems - the filming is not to an Oscar.. But who cares? This review is full of tips & tricks, a brilliant body walk-through and a historic contrast/presentation of the whole idea (F3 vs DF) Especially the part with the pre AIS lens use, was very interesting to me. Very very thorough, even demo how to shoot the non-ai lens !!! Big thanks 👍 I don't have such lens but never see anyone show it like in this video before. This camera model is already an important milestone in the camera industry.

Hello Tony. How about a Df revisited video? I note it's been just over a year since your review and you mention it's your only digital SLR.
I believe the Df is a much maligned camera which is unjustified.
It's a real head Turner, I adore the looks, and so went straight on the web to find one, ....brand new £5000, and that was that!!. If ever I could afford one I would still buy one, just to admire it, but no matter how good it is , I doubt I would look as much at the results it produced, as much as I would look at the camera itself. One thing is for sure, anyone who uses it for a while , will be a better photographer for it.
I don't know where you're looking but no way it's £5000 new, not even when it was released. You can get a decent condition one for around $1200-$1400. Nikon UK has them new for around £2000 new. Might want to check that out.

I like the concept of this camera as I have a Nikon F and three Non Ai lenses. One question though which might sound silly but I am going to ask it all the same. if using it, as I would, In complete manual mode, is there any way of metering?
northstar1950 Yes! You get a full LCD bar at the bottom of the display from - through 0 to + 3 stops.

Hi, I just discovered your review. I still own my first SLR, which is a Pentax K2 (Some of us are still alive!) and I love Nikkor D lenses ; at he moment, I'm using a Sony A7 and I shoot landscapes and events (Mainly bands, dance groups). I was wondering if the Df could be of any use for this kind of work.
Christian F The only thing you may have a problem with is auto focusing in low light. I use a single centre spot and it works fine for what I use it for. The D750 is known to be better at auto focusing.
I love the Df concept (as well as a lot hate ut...) and I hope I will be able to buy a second hand one , one day...
I usually prefer the 2 tones one , but your black and gold is arrgghh amazing. Your review of it is the best and the more exhaustive. Thx for this great job... which just makes me more eager to get one !!!!

Isn't that the fancy gold limited edition? Very nice, love the leather case too. So much nicer to just lug around the shoulder. Apparently you can get quite a lot of customisable bits for it to personalise it as it was intended by the manufacturer.

minolta x700 had that grip ,
dont like the gold looking bits ..chavvy ... chrome would fit in more .. with the black and white lettering
