Just wanted to swing by and say thanks for your output on UA-cam. Your guides about mining and starting out on SC have shaped my introduction to Star Citizen. Also, as a west country lad who now lives in a concrete jungle, your voice helps brings me home somewhat.
I prefer area 18 because it has all the shops you need. And it's a fairly small area. But if Orison isn't a nightmare to get out of in 3.18, I might give that one a try for a while just for some variety.
Orison exit is super quick in 3.18, yeah. I’ve been setting it as my home in the PTU and fully intend on it also being home in 3.18. Lots of new FPS missions to check out. Need to get that Crusader reputation up this time around! MicroTech’s been my home location since 3.16’s release. Never could get into Lorville. Area 18 is alright. Orison has Cousin Crows (and the white Macflex Backback :D ).
I came back yesterday after a biiiig break. I made my home in Orison and it took me a terible long time to get out of there.. I will never make it to my home before i get a faster ship.
Hey, I just found your channel a few days ago and just wanted to tell you that you're without a doubt putting out some of the best, most well thought out content in the Star Citizen scene. Keep it up man!
Once again you are concise, informative and entertaining in under 25 minutes. I do believe you have got the formulae down for the perfect SC video. Thank you again for all you do for my favorite MMORPG.
discovered your channel when searching for a good guide for mining a year ago (i think). now i am a active follower of your channel and want to say that i like your unique video ideas and your chill style that doesnt get boring. love from germany
Wonderful video. I haven't played SC in a few years so when I start back in the 3.18 release I'm basically a new player given how much change the game has gone through in recent times. This video was exactly what I needed to plan my home LZ so thank you.
Thanks for a great video showing the main cities which like you said is ideal for new players to see before deciding where to base themselves. I think another great video from you for new comers would be an aerial approach to these cities showing where and how to find the star ports and the best approach to take.
Thanks Kevin, conveniently I made 4 such videos while I was doing this which I’ll release as quick “find the spaceport in x” vids. Going to be taking a small holiday in a couple of weeks so banked some content.
I've always started in Microtech since I really enjoy the layout and the way the city stands out in the ice world, but if the fps gains in 3.18 would be enough I would switch to Orison since I'm a fan of Crusader design ships, hopefully the game engine gets optimized enough so that I can consider Orison as my new home in the next massive patch. Excellent vid to intro to all the cities just sad that most guides tend to want you to just transfer your imprint to space stations since the cities tend to take such a huge hit on your gameplay because of optimization. Also the really need to add personal hangers in so that we can get the cargo elevator and perhaps the ability to finally spawn a ground vehicle so you can load it up on your ship before you leave the spaceport
I go with either Lorville or Orison, the former because the dystopian setting fits the desire to break ground and fly away, while in Orison you're already in the air, everyone there would expected to have some mean of transportation that just might also be capable of space travel. Currently I'm waiting on a CI starter, I'm confident it will look great. New Babbage gives me more of a "whimsy" feeling, you start flying because you have the money to back your wanderlust and that's not really what I'm looking for, while Area 18 is industrial, and I'd say too industrial for someone to so easily find themselves in the position of starting flying solo, more start as part of a crew and eventually break off.
Hurston, and more specifically Everus Station, will always be my base I think. There's a low amount of traffic, and as someone who mains as a hadanite miner and scavenger, its got everything I need right in that circle, especially with 3.18 adding racing and bases.
*Things you forgot:* *- Hurston* has multiple surface entrances and 3.18 should let us land near enough to somewhat conveniently load ground vehicles into ships. *- MicroTech* has some of the nicest low-flying locations and possibly the most ground PoIs in 3.18. *- Crusader* space is not just the location for the Siege of Orison, but also for Jumptown (and I think the incursion?).
Jumptown is not only on Yela but also has a presence in ArcCorp jurisdiction of Wala and the XenoThreat incursion comes from MicroTech i'm pretty sure... Since the Pyro Jump Point is nearny and that is the function of Jericho Station, to defend against raids from Pyro.
Really like your dry humor, subscription well earned. My spot will be Crusader again. Choosed it without knowing that it was a bad choice in 3.17, but in 3.18 and combinded with its orbital station, you get most what you need. You did however forget to mention the most imporant shop (in my opinion), the one next to the crusader discovery center, the one and only place where you can buy the blue/white version of the armor you are wearing. Best looking armor by a country mile.
I always like Microtech/NB the best. It's a nice hab, beautiful city, fast easy train, comfortable to navigate, and has most of what you need, the rest above at Tressler. Yeah it is far from other things, but for me that's okay because I can play happily around Microtech and not need to go to the other areas except to visit, and if I do want to go far away it really does not take long with a decent engine. 2-5min. Who cares? My 2nd choice would be Orrison/Crusader. Its environment and design is so beautiful, relaxing, and luxurious. Obviously the massive broken thick atmosphere was a reason to never ever choose it till its fixed, but that will be fixed. That said, it has limited options for weapons and armor, but a lot of ship parts yeah, and station above has the weapons and armor. Problem with Orrison vs Microtech is GROUND. Being a pretty city in the clouds is nice, but I love the rugged beauty of the ground on Microtech. 3rd would be Arc-corp. Its pretty central, very functional, but I don't like living in big cities...reminds me of Corcscant, Blade Runner, Cyberpunk...great, neurtal ok hab, but not my cup of tea. Lorville is a shit hole and I have always hated it. It has gotten better, but its that grungy worker point of view in a futuristic city that is hyper industrial and low class in all the wrong ways. I get why people like it, but its not for me. THEIR TRAIN SYSTEM IS THE WORST. So so bad. Landfill factory planet. I avoid Hurston as much as possible, the planet, the moons, and the prison...lol
I think a warning that you forgot to mention about Orison is that its in the heart of the most dangerous system in Stanton, given its close proximity to things such as GrimHex and Jumptown. Not once have I been able to do anything in the Crusader system without someone tryin' to kill me.
Area 18 is great for players with starter ships. Upgrade to s1 and s3 repeaters at CenterMass as well as S1 S2 and S3 EM missiles, FPS gear and Baijini has Palisade shields and the Voyage QD. Re loreville, I think u can get pistol ammo at Tamani and Sons. New Babbage isn't bad esp if u have a S2 ship like a Cutlass. Same S3 repeaters, S2 A shields at Omega Pro and XL-1 QD at Tressler
Always preferred Area 18 for convenience as every thing you need to get started and for, as you say, quant mining. if it weren't for the fact there's no hospital at PO then i might well have considered Orison. Great vid as always.
Thanks LG. When I started in SC I choose Lorvillle as it was at the centre of the system, but then realised, as a new player you rarely have to fly to other planets for missions, and most bounty hunter Guild qualification missions happen in Hurston space. In patch 3.15 I moved to New Babbage for IAE, then stayed for Arron's Halo mining out of MIC-L1 - also handy for XenoThreat which happens 'next door'. In 3.16 I switched from quant mining to bounty hunting, and moved to Orison as Crusader is the best spot to chain and grind PvE bounties - zero planetary bounties in thick atmosphere, unlike the other three planets - most complete military components at Cousin Crows, and most ship weapons at Crusader Showroom (except laser repeaters). You also left out Providence Surplus, where I get all my blue Aril armour. In 3.18 I will stay in Orison, and start with the new Orison missions and the Daymar wrecks. But I will be grinding my bounty hunter rep up, as I want to buy my torpedo ships before the next XenoThreat cycle. My main base is PO, but in the last two patches the Grim Hex issues mean I set my respawn at CRU-L1.
Should be noted about Hurston: Both HUR-L1 and L2 points are relatively close and offer guns and ammo. However these take considerable more time than just jumping to a moon or station in-system, so it's still a big drawback and why I never spend time or bounty hunt in Hurston, but worth noting you're not as screwed as having to go to another planetary system altogether
I started On Microtech in New Babbage when I first got into the game because it had the IAE running :) I spent the first 2 hours just getting to know my way around way before I got the space port LOL I had rented ships from the IAE every day and then got to fly them only just to get into space for a little bit as it felt like a big step to leave the planet ( thinking I would get lost ) but after the IAE had finished I started to look around starting to make my way in the verse trying delivery ( died a lot ) bounties ( died more ) and then mining ( died less ) this is when the spending started LOL I first found the started ship was crap the Mustang upgraded it to the Titan whish I had got that first. then I got me a Prospector so at the next wipe it would be easier to start ( this is what I told myself ) then the shiny new ships oooooh I saved up 5Mill aUAC for the MSR to deliver my refined QT and straight out of Orison to PO and tried flying though the rings LOL BOOM on its first flight ( the insurance wouldnt be happy ) and then the fun and love began, recuing some stranded miners to fighting pirates off as they wanted my QT ( I didnt go down without a fight) I would say even after a year playing I still havent been to every spot I am taking my time so I dont run out of things to see and do I havent got to ERT bounty or high box deliveries not got anything from the mission givers ( I did get an invite before the 3.17 wipe ) Im just taking it all in waiting for my new pc build so I can play it smooth (7800x3d ) :) As for where to live ... you are right about New Babbage i dont know why I still start there and Crusader like you said the time to get to Atmo was far too long and Area18 I can see that. Lorvile LOL maybe the new one if it looks better ( I have standards lol ) Its like Org's I play solo most of the time I managed to get a friend to play at Invictus week but he dont want to play due to upcoming 3.18 wipe so Org's This is a hard one as I would like to play with people talk and do stuff but dont want to be put in a hole. I want to do it all Mining , bounty, flying, turret gunner , cargo, salvage, But I can not be tied to a set time set day due to work which is crap but it pays the bills. Sorry for the long post Loud :)
Was NB for a year but since I started spawning there because of issues in Ptu. I've decided it'll be the main spot for a while. Although it's not like most of us don't go to the big landing zones after initial spawn and just transfer respawn location and items to an r n r
Wow, thats great that the ceiling is being reduced to get out of atmosphere at orison. I've always based out of there and was planning to do so again for the new fps missions, but hour review of area 18 makes me want to give it a go as well.
I've remarked on your Disco too, this channel was pretty instrumental in my making a more serious get into SC, so pat yourseelf on the back, activate smuig mode and I owe you a beer/beverage of choice/(not the '63 Taylors) should there be any form of UK meetup. Interesting remark on RP, I've seen very little, or it used as an excuse for random mayhem, but early days. SoO make me observe that Orison starport is abit of a so and so at night compared to the others, not quite the visual cues which Lorville especially offers with the floating names. 30th century final approach systems have degraded from C21st ones in subtle ways. Be nice if they could come up with missions that dont involve fps all the time, but you have to play to your market:-)
I think it's definitely worth mentioning, as a fairly new player with a lower spec system, that Orison will put by far the most strain on your pc. So if, like me, you are closer to the minimum pc specs for SC, I would suggest not starting at Orison (cool and beautiful though it is). I have yet to visit Area 18 (it's next on my list of locations to explore) but so far I would say New Babbage is my favourite of the cities. Yes, Microtech is quite far out of the system, but it's also by far the most beautiful and varied of the planets I've visited, and between New Babbage and Port Tressler you can buy just anything you might need, especially for fps gameplay.
Crusader is my favourite planet due to its moons. However, Orison is hard to have as a primary residence because of the lag so I set mine as microtech as it as imo the best planet and nicest city
Port Olisar was the best spot. Everything close together, good mining and mission points just a minute away. Forcing people to planet side locations, was just another of the many bad decisions done by Chris Numbnuts Roberts.
Assuming the Elevators of DOOOOM at GH are fixed: GH. If not, CRU-L1. I keep one of my Razors at either site, and when I respawn, I transfer the other over to that site, spawn the first one, and zip back to Oli.
Great video however CIG keeps forcing me to use Orrison as my spawn because they keep on adding all the new features to it. Hopefully the rumors about Hurston getting reworked before 4.0 are true so I can actually be somewhere else.
Honestly MicroTech is my go to as she has the most variety of mission types and super easy to grab ground vehicles not to mention alot of gear and ship parts can be bought before you even take off for your first time. To top it off shes got some of the fastest public transport around! Arc corp is really neat but suffers from lack of content and youll have to go to a moon just to get a vehicle which I know some ppl dont mind but its a extra step in a game that takes 10-20mins to get STARTED sometimes. I cant wait till they add car bays to hangers so we can load up that way. Hurston has good missions but the perimeter line car bays SUCK and the train gets tiring fast (plus fuck the Hurston family >:c ) Now Orision was always pretty but my god has it been a nightmare going in and out but with 3.18 it wont be as bad and we get those neat new missions! my biggest downside personally with Orison is that to get a wider selection of gear you need to go up to Olisar or as me and my friends affectionately call it "RAM RANCH" so its always a gamble just trying to do some simple shopping .
Yeah I love Orision but it is the ONLY city where I get stuck on the tram trying to get to cousin crows gotta sit on the tram twice waiting for enough shit to load in ahaha other cities I do not have that problem but orision gut punches me there i guess
If they raise Orison up, I will stay there, although if they redo Lorville and put some more shops I could be persuaded to live there. Lucky for us players, we can always leave if we get tired of the brutalistic architecture and dark corners unlike the workers and NPC,s
Really burned out of Orison with this event and how far away "exit atmosphere" is. On top of how ridiculously BRIGHT the planet is in the daytime. Actually blinding for some reason. Why don't we have sunglasses?
Thankfully that exit atmo changes significantly with 3.18. You only have to climb 10K before jumping vs the current 70K. Can’t do much about the brightness though - agree on the shades 😎
Babbage sucks because almost all events are on the other side of the system, same for Area 18. Orison sucks because it takes ages to get around. Lorville it is
I hate nothing more than Lorville, with its openly fascist posters, the incomprehensible jumble of tunnels. Lengthy, drab and boring tram rides. Everything takes forever to get to, and the space port has chances to drop dead for no reason right in front of the ship selection displays! In the nearby ship display area, there are at least two spots for years, where you can fall through the floor, forcing you repeat the entire dreadful trip from the dingy "Hab"-irritaton! I have to dig deep into games from the 80's to match the dreadful experiences.
@@LoudGuns More seriously, I wish New Babbage had better armor and weapons option, otherwise I love this city, it's beautiful and the night life there is amazing!
@@Waserice I think if you factor in the armor shop at tressler and the personal weapons in the terminal at center mass NB is actually alright for FPS gear?
Klesher may or may not be my home for 3.18
Free rent!
All rent is free when you have a back pack with 130 grenades in it
@@Feral_Badger how you think - I like it.
I know someone who really likes Drake ships - told him its from all the time he spent in Klesher, so the interiors are very cozy…

Wow, thats great that the ceiling is being reduced to get out of atmosphere at orison. I've always based out of there and was planning to do so again for the new fps missions, but hour review of area 18 makes me want to give it a go as well.
Yeah the ceiling is a game changer for me. I used to make some pretty circuitous routes to pick up ship parts just to avoid one trip to cousin crows!

There's one more store in Orison: Providence Surplus, with surprisingly cheap basic equipment.
new babbage is always my first home.
There are no bad choices. Aesthetically I think NB is my favourite.
Nah, orsion is dirty of fps regardless.
Crusader is my favourite planet due to its moons. However, Orison is hard to have as a primary residence because of the lag so I set mine as microtech as it as imo the best planet and nicest city
I have to just leave my pc for like 5 mins while I'm in the hab to let it all load it is such a pain
With the QT Ceiling fixed, Orison is the way to go for me as well
I really can not be arsed taking off for like 10 minutes
@@mryellow6918 exactly
Port Olisar was the best spot. Everything close together, good mining and mission points just a minute away. Forcing people to planet side locations, was just another of the many bad decisions done by Chris Numbnuts Roberts.
torn between MT or Crusader as my home in 3.18.
Orison has been my home since I stated. was considering A18 in 3.18, but it's just not home
Area 18 for life
CRU has always been home for me, and more specifically Port Oli. I see no reason to change that for 3.18. 🙂
But where do you wake up after you explode? I'd love to stay at PO but there's no medbed?
Assuming the Elevators of DOOOOM at GH are fixed: GH. If not, CRU-L1. I keep one of my Razors at either site, and when I respawn, I transfer the other over to that site, spawn the first one, and zip back to Oli.
Another great video ty for your content LG :)
Good stuff, man. Between lower atmos and improved fps in 3.18, Orison might have so many ppl spawning there it will tank the performance again. lol
Ah he’s on to my master plan…encourage everyone to head to Orison so I can enjoy all the frames at Lorville!
The best LZ is the one that loads in when you try to land
Missed the other shop at Orison providence
Area 1 definitely has a Blade runner feel to me with the holographic scenery
Yeah it’s definitely got those blade runner vibes!
Hurston has good missions but the perimeter line car bays SUCK and the train gets tiring fast (plus fuck the Hurston family >:c )
Now Orision was always pretty but my god has it been a nightmare going in and out but with 3.18 it wont be as bad and we get those neat new missions! my biggest downside personally with Orison is that to get a wider selection of gear you need to go up to Olisar or as me and my friends affectionately call it "RAM RANCH" so its always a gamble just trying to do some simple shopping .
Yeah I love Orision but it is the ONLY city where I get stuck on the tram trying to get to cousin crows gotta sit on the tram twice waiting for enough shit to load in ahaha other cities I do not have that problem but orision gut punches me there i guess
18:57 More FPS missions... Wish they would focus on more fps for our GPUs in that place. Geez.
I'll go to MicroTech. I'm at peace there.
Which City are YOU planning on making your home in 3.18 Loud Guns? Lorville still?
Nah I’m being all traitorous and heading to Orison!
I think you can buy FPS weapons at Tammany in Lorville.
Nope
Yeah I couldn’t see any when I checked, think the personal weapons available were multi tools.
you can buy ammo but not guns
Levski, I'll make Levski my home.
I miss Levski so much. Nyx when????
Honestly with Orison about to get a MASSIVE population spike in 3.18 I think the bandito burritos in grim hex are about to be camped hard lol
Haha yeah hadn’t thought about it like that. Those poor poor criminals 😂
If they raise Orison up, I will stay there, although if they redo Lorville and put some more shops I could be persuaded to live there. Lucky for us players, we can always leave if we get tired of the brutalistic architecture and dark corners unlike the workers and NPC,s
Haha yep, Lorville sucks for it’s average inhabitant but we are allowed to leave 😂
Other games that aren't hot dog shit would be my suggestion.
Babbage sucks because almost all events are on the other side of the system, same for Area 18. Orison sucks because it takes ages to get around. Lorville it is
If the changes to Lorville make it for 3.18, I can't not. Otherwise, Orison.
Lorville 2.0 will be in 3.19
Yeah I could be mistaken but I think they said 3.19. That said who knows how many 3.18.x’s there might be? 😂
yeah, when I last checked they weren't sure, Orison for now then, I think.
Beep boop
Great stuff mate, however, I do call your ship of choice into question. U can do better than the Connie she's an oldie not a goody IMHO
Does this really matter? At first chance you'll set your spawn at a space station anyway 🤷♂️
1:17 😂
Bears mentioning that only choose Orison if your PC has at least 32GB RAM or else its 20fps everywhere. Hahah. I never go to Orison because of this.
Indeed I probably should’ve highlighted that as the opposite to A18’s relatively low intensity.
Cru L1 gang?

Not first.
You can still have a medal🏅
