My father had the E major concerto on a set of RCA red seal 78 RPM records. As a 10 yr old, I found them, and it was my first exposure to Bach. 65 years later, it never ceases to please and amaze. This was a stellar performance. Thank you.
The things are parents pass down to us only become ever more enduring as we age and the gift of Bach and Baroque music makes this fact even more sentimental.
Thank you for your kind words. The musicians greatly appreciate it. They put in a tremendous amount of time and energy into their preparation and your enjoyment validates their hard work.
Wonderful performance! I was struck by your soloist's intro comments re. Bach's common "theme of light versus dark" ... cf esp. the Chaconne, with its Major middle-section. There's a great performance -- using the Chaconne in a documentary on the genocide at Auschwitz -- where the fiddler (modern Russian virtuoso -- blanked on the name) walks around the camp inspecting the ovens, gas chambers, etc. as he fiddles away ... he choses to leave out the Major section, leaving us trapped in a minor-world of melancholy and sadness. The film-makers found a fantastic day to shoot the sequence: in the empty camp it's a blue-tinged, overcast day. It's bitterly cold, the kind that bites into your bones, and the camera often focusses on the musician's dead-white, frozen fingers. Bach rules.
Thank you for sharing this riveting story. I'd be interested in watching the documentary because every Holocaust documentary I watch seems to shed some new light on the atrocities that were committed.

Playing Bach preludes every day keeps the dementia away.

Los siglos pasan y Bach sigue deslunbrándonos. Un verdadero regalo de Dios. Maravillosa interpretación!! Bravo!
Gracias.
Vivid and expresive interpretation of such a wonderful concerto. This must stay for eternity. Thanks.
Very kind and pithy words, indeed. Thank you!
Flawless, very good!!
Congratulations, you know how to play a dancing melody and your adagio is like being carried by the waves of the Venice lagoon
That would be the Venetian influence you hear in Bach's music. 😉

Blasting "Wall of Sound!". Has Phil Spector risen from his grave or crawled out of his cell?
Our intonation is what sets us apart. Spector wouldn't have needed nearly the number of musicians to produce the sound we produce. 😉
Vivaldi is less boring
Vivaldi was a major influence in Bach's work and Bach transcribed several of Vivaldi's work for performance.
