Hey there! I never thought I'd learn something new about BG3, being I've explored every nook and cranny of the game in my 1st playthrough. And yet I have! Just FYI, the Guiding Light ring can be obtained without killing Bernard if you read some books on your way up to the top floor, and then choose the appropriate responses. He'll lay it on the table and then you can pick up the lightning resistance ring before you fight him, if you want to fight him at all. Also, if you expose Kagha as a Shadow Druid and then steal the idol, the Druids won't attack the Tieflings either.
Just barely found a lever on the top floor of arcane tower that you have to pass a perception check on, but it opens the basement! No need to kill poor bernard 🎉 it’s near some pipes right against the wall!
The proper way is to read the books in the tower and recite him poetry you find. That will cause him to give you the ring. You equip it and can go to the basement.
You can get a 2nd quasit if you go through the mirror and have another character talk with shovel, then you can have that character summon quasit, now 2 shovel’s.
4:30 "if you don't have a druid or cleric in your party" Who's out there not bringing Shadowheart everywhere? One quick subclass change and she's OP as all hell as a healer/support. Especially with Zevlor's gloves. And the game REALLY wants you to have her with you anyway, since half of Act 2 is her story, and if you try to ignore her in act 1, the game literally throws her at you and shouts "TAKE HER WITH YOU" basically.
For the necromancy of thay in the blighted village, the key to the door it’s behind is actually on a shelf next to the exit wall in that room. Locking isn’t that bad but the key is there in case anyone doesn’t run dex characters in your party
the ring of fling sold by arron at the druid grove and the returning pike are OP well into the end of act 2. i had laezel throw that thing for the majority of the game, even after acquiring a silver sword. the returning pike just does far more damage after the bludgeoning damage bonus _from gravity_ is factored in. since she's a natural jumping athlete who also has misty step, get her up high and just start dropping some pike. even if you miss the attack, the fall damage from the pick does bludgeoning damage, and then the returning part does a bit more, and both of those instances of damage are affected by the ring of fling, adding another 2d8 of damage or so. when she got into two attacks per round plus action surge plus potion of speed, she would one shot _entire encounters_ often in the first round of combat. the forge guardian i think took two round, especially since it's also got vulnerability to bludgeoning damage. it feels like cheating, and all of the items required are available in the first ten minutes of the game.
i even had her misty step up onto the bridge where you first meet kithrak voss and murdify her own people who were level 5 while i was merely level 3. she was easily doing 40+ damage per throw on average, often much more than that, multiplied by the total number of attacks per round equating to hundreds of damage per turn.
This game is astounding. So much love and care was put into this game and it shows in every single aspect of the game. The best game of the last decade in my opinion without question. I have 650-750 hours into the game and I still love playing it over and find new things.

oh also summoning the ogres during the hag fight almost never works. the ogres will be hostile to the girl in the cage and path on her immediately, ignoring the hags, and just getting acid arrowed to death while they try to figure out how to get to the cage. ive never tried it with the masked paladins in the fight because i always defeat them earlier, so maybe if they are present the ogres would be more help. even during the githyanki fight, they get pwned. the ogres are pretty much useless in most fights. the only good thing about them is the crown they drop, that's about it.
this is insane how much they put in there. what's even more insane is there is still stuff that isn't on this list and not just like 1 or 2 things but alot.
The only problem with the whispering promise ring: If you actually cast bless with any character and then use the character with the ring to heal a blessed character, it reduces the time, bless stays active on the healed character as the usual bless spell lasts longer than two turns and gets overwritten by the bless spell of the ring.
Really good list and included a couple of things I hand't found. You did miss one of the most powerful weapons in the game which can be easily missed by killing the wrong Duergar in Grymforge, and that's the Bow of the Banshee. Frightened on hit with a bow is insane at locking enemies, especially melee enemies, out of having turns especially if you combine it with things like Arrows of Many Targets, Slashing Flourish or Arrows of Ice (Frightened + Prone is a recipe for a stun-lock).
Agreed. I've been using that bow on my Gloomstalker Ranger/ Assassin all the way to Act 3. Saving the child from the Hag will get you the legendary Gom Triel bow
I usually convince them to work for me in exchange for them eating the bodies of the enemies they kill for me, then I summon them to kill the spider matriarch, hide my characters until the spiders and ogres are almost dead then finishing them all off and taking the circlet. Then I have it almost for the whole of act 1. Does wonders for my druid
30:00 Gloves of Heroism. You don't need anyone in your party to open the door. Just place an object, even an empty pouch, on the chairs and the door will open. 31:20 Addled Frog. Just like with Buddy's treasure in Original Sin 2 if you succeed in your checks to find hidden items you can loot this quite by accident if you're simply wandering aimlessly.
@@jinxysaberkI watched a full play through before I decided to get the game. Insane why I did that because I was INSANELY confused on the first run lol
You can get Volo's ring even earlier buy purchasing it from him while he is in the grove talking to the ox. Just choose to trade with him by left clicking the trade button in the bottom left while in conversation with him.
Casting darkness over the area where the sylvanus idol is, you can steal it before going to the goblin camp and the druids will not attack the tieflings this way
I cleared the goblin camp and as everyone was packing up to go I was looting all the tiefling’s stuff- they just leave it all there when they’re clearing out. I went down to the idol, cast fog, snatched it and fast traveled the waypoint right outside, walked right back in and gave it to Mol who is right by the gate. Then I walked back down to where the idol had been and no one said a thing. After the tiefling party I walked back into the grove and Kahga was just standing right by the entrance so I killed her for the Broodmothers necklace or ring she has. Then I walked right over to the little guy who sells stuff and he said not one single word. So it’s still possible to tie up all quest lines. Even just knocking out Minthara will complete the 3 leaders quest so you can get the note from the swamp and stop the ritual, get the leaders and all their gear, even loot Mintharas armor so she shows up naked later in act 2 (or so I’ve heard. I just killed her in this playthrough). Then go back and steal the idol and then get Halsin and then go back and get Kahgas loot. I love this damn game lol
Re: Voss's sword, I just had a second invis character pick it up right after he drops it after a successful Command/Drop, and then just, in inventory, right click the sword --> send to camp, THEN just flee combat back to the portal and go back home.
If you want to stay on the side of sovereign Spaw, you can use Glut (just click on his portrait and start walking, the others won't follow him) to enter the bibberbang mushroom field and save Baelen and get the noble stalk. You cannot pick up the noble stalk, but you can move it around (same with the backpack for Baelen). Just a heads up for people who don't want to side with Glut. There's also a ridge that runs around the bibberbang field where you can safely walk avoiding the bibberbang shrooms. At one point you come across a skeleton (it's hard to see, so you might want to cast light on your weapon to see better) which has a ring that gives +1 to survival and +1 to nature. It's called Explorer's Ring. Weird that you didn't mention this here.
I actually discovered the Slave Mind and Dark Mind on my second playthrough. I remember seeing those, thinking "they remind me of those braina at the end of act 2", and wondering what would happen if i carried them all the way there. Love that attention to detail
Watching this after my first play through, I put it off because I didn’t want potential spoilers. I have to say thank you for not showing us what dialogue to say or going further when there could be spoilers. Definitely subscribing, looking forward to other “secret” videos.
Losiir is temp in texture rendering too as his shoulder plates illustrate 😂 You get a bonus from him too as his loot is almost the same as an origin character.
You don’t actually need the brand of the absolute for the gloves of power. It only says it in the flavor text, and you can start using them as soon as you fight the first set of goblins attacking the Druid grove, and see the effect applied long before you ever meet priestess gut.
Hmm. Dark Urge Sorceror or Bard. Folks, make your choice. I'd be rejecting Bhaal but going full Mind Flayer. I'm thinking Bard for the inspirations. Oathbreaker Paladin for minion shenanigans is also tempting, but I want Sarevok's armor.
one alternative for the ogre band is to use them in an overwhelming battle such as Mentghara so they die, only one use but you get the headband off Lump when he's dead
I picked up the mind jars from the nautiloid in my first playthrough. Never did anything with them and tried to find somewhere to sell them but it was always 1 gold. Finding that was a fun little payoff
I bought the game only a few weeks after it came out but I’m just getting around to my first actual playthrough now. This video and the comments have been INVALUABLE to me. I wish I had the time and energy to dedicate to doing a bunch of play throughs and finding every secret and item, but it’s just not realistic for me right now. So inste b ad of feeling a lot of regret and feeling like I missed out on a ton of stuff in my playthrough, I can at least be aware of all of these and try to remember while I’m exploring.
The snowburst ring puts an ice patch on the ground when you damage with ice. The mourning frost with that ring and the horfrost boots can make most battles much easier when your tank is making everyone slip and fall.
lolth sworn drow also get dialog with the book of thay, and also if you're a cleric with abyss beckoners you can use spiritual weapon as well and it'll receive the buff.
I guess he hasn't heard Priestess Gut, Newborn Gnolls, and Harpies can also be turned into Spore Undead. Gut is amazing as an undead because she can give the entire party shield of faith without concentration. She can also use shield of faith and healing word without spending spellslots. MVP healer for the half of the underdark where Glut is on your side.
Not many people like Laezel. People don't play her nearly as much as, per se, Gale or Shadowheart. He isn't hidden by any means, just not exactly very common for most play throughs.
With Lathander's mace you can skip the crest puzzle by passing the perception check to notice the hidden door and then lockpicking or casting knock on it. And it is very useful against Cazador as it casts sunlight which he has weakness to.
2:40 you only have to succed one (or maybe just the second one) in my play through I failed the first roll but succeeded the second one and got the proficiency
I don’t know if I missed it, but in the owlbear cave inside the selenite chest there is an amulet that makes you immune to opportunity attacks when under 50% HP. To open it you need to read the prayer sheet behind the statue, while standing next to the chest.
As for Shovel, there's a bit of a hack to get the summon ability on any character regardless of class. If you have a wizard or use Gale, you both can have him. Shovel is no different than a regular quasit but he does have fun dialog. The Blood of Lathandar mace is one of the best in slot in the game for an Aspect of Light cleric (especially if you set up with radiant orb/reverberation gear). It makes act 2 so much easier.
IDK if the video mentions it as i didn't watch the whole thing but, you can pickpocket your gold off withers after you respec. just mash the button if you have a bad roll variable.
I still have the quasit Roll cos I keep all scrolls in case I need em ... So many hours in the game and I didn't know you could aslo learn these spells xD
Ive beaten this game several times and have had many other partial play throughs but there were a few things on this list I never knew about. Sometimes we overlook the little things. Like I never knew about the spider egg you can use for a 1 time spider minions to fight for you. I also never knew you could combine the parts of the broken spear from the dead guy and the owlbear, it makes sense but it never crossed my mind to attempt it. Maybe because spears seem to under-perform most other weapons so I mostly ignore their existence.
The thing about the headband of intellect is you can obtain it from lumps corpse even if you use the war horn to summon him. And given that the war horn only works in act 1, you could come to an agreement with him, summon him to fight a hard fight (I like to use them as damage sponges for clearing the goblin camp), and then immediately kill them after for the headband and more tasty act 1 exp.
I don't remember what type of ring, but in the Baleen area (the one with the bibberbangs) starting from the left, there are some protruding stones that you can jump on and get the ring from a skeleton.
30:23 You don't have to sit there, i did not have my party with me so you can just substitute with any random vase in the room. Just put it on top of both chairs and it will work.
You can get the ring of protection immediately in ACT 1 (i.e., as soon as you enter the Grove), but you need to have fairly quick (irl), sticky fingers (this is also, very obviously an unintended exploit). Simply run up to the Statue of Silvanus and pick it up - during the looting animation (meaning, while the item is in the air and going towards your character, but before disappearing/entering your inventory) go to camp. If you go to camp while the statue was 'still in the air', the Druids won't aggro, and they will carry on as if nothing has happened. You may want to savescum if you find it difficult to do, but I've done it both on console & PC without fail (and most of these have been on Honor Mode), so it's quite safe once you get used to it. Once you have the ring, you can go directly to Mol, get the quest and turn it in (or get the quest before, doesn't matter), however: There is one caveat, and that is to have good favor with Mol. That means, you have to either save Arabella, or save the kid being lured by the harpies, if you didn't do the former (you can naturally also do both). The Harpies is a difficult fight, though, so if you want the ring ASAP, I'd recommend saving Arabella. If you don't have good favor with Mol, she will be verbally hostile to you, and not give you the quest.
i got a funny hidden interaction no one seems to mention if you get the lute from alfira, then play it at the party with her after you save the druids grove she joins in for a song and a crowd forms around you guys 😂
for lump you can also get them to fight for you and before the end of fight kill lump and loot the head 17 int, enjoy it's a free fight because lump is already in fight he don't really care about your attack against him
22:46 If you happen to have the corpse of any one of them tiefling children you can actually use it on them use an elixir of giants strength and equip a strong 2h weapon and get carried by them because they can't actually be in the fights so you just beat everything up with them. ez cheese strat for underdark
Apologies if someone commented already You can actually get Ethel's Hair and still kill her if you're willing to take a somewhat tedious approach to the fight. You have to have a companion hidden out of sight for the duration of combat. Once the dialogue with Ethel begins and you get the pop-up for her hair you can switch to the hidden companion and have them sneak up and kill her. This will result in you getting the hair and freeing the masked people (if you kept them alive). The game will get somewhat confused later on with NPCs potentially speaking as if you had both spared her _and_ let her live, though.
2:05 if anyone is trying to get the approval points for SH, make sure u don’t let either of em get knocked out, pickpocket the hellrider gloves, before you talk to zevlor, you can still talk to him and it will be as if nothing happened. (This also makes it so it’s easier to get mols mission since one of the tiefling kids will rob Aradins companion etc)
Idk why this happened and it could have been a fluke, but without really trying I was able to sneak up on the duegar slavers with the Bulette. Due to his bulk it involved a lot of jumping around to position myself, but it caused everyone to have the surprised condition and they died so fast that they didn’t have time to raise any of the dead. It was awesome
the spear of the absolute is actually somewhat useful vs the watcher in the underdark, on high difficulties, if you are not experienced enough to know how to otherwise cheese it. also, fun fact, in order to get fake excalibur, without succeeding the check or being a clerik respectively, hit yourself or one of your companions with a slashing weapon, so blood spills on it ~
I ussually just get Glut to walk into the mushroom field Balen is in as he does not trigger mushrooms to blow either, then just move the back pack and noble stalk like you would any item over the ground untill its safe to grab for the player.
Ring of protection is great in 5E saving throws are great particularly on fighters. Shape shifters boon ring you can trade with the Ox in act 1 is god tier item that can combine with guidance cantrip to easily pass any dialogue check in the game.
So I tried to do the trick to get Hellrider's gloves, standing back and letting them fight but Zevlor is the one that punched, knocking out the Human instead.

Those Ogres once you get around 5k gold owned just summon to the Lava when you fight the lvl 8 machine and they will die in the Lava.
But then can you still loot that cool circlet he has that gives 17 INT?
@@SwedePotato314 Yes if your not already at 20 int by that point.
Thanks for the tip on the dark and slave mind, just started a new game and took slave mind because I was confused that I couldn't use it.
This is not overwhelming at all for a 1st playthrough (no one said)
Thanks for the vid !
You should go in blind for 1st playthrough!
don’t watch videos for a first playthrough? 💀
@@jinxysaberkI watched a full play through before I decided to get the game. Insane why I did that because I was INSANELY confused on the first run lol

Ourobo-rion ^^
You can get Volo's ring even earlier buy purchasing it from him while he is in the grove talking to the ox. Just choose to trade with him by left clicking the trade button in the bottom left while in conversation with him.
I steal it at the Druid grove.
An invisible Mage hand does the trick too for some reason
Mage hand or a summoned Imp or Quasit (hi Shovel) will do the trick too
Don't accidentally eat the Noblestalk as Glut though
Any idea how I would do this on PS5?
@@SwedePotato314 generate a mage hand, control it fly to the target, click L3, select the target, select move, then move the target to wherever u want
the way any basic healing would literally save thulla and the plants there were like "reanimation :>"
Losiir is temp in texture rendering too as his shoulder plates illustrate 😂
You get a bonus from him too as his loot is almost the same as an origin character.
Dark Mind & Slave Mind:
-Toyhouze: "it's very rare that anyone actually carries these all the way to that.."
-Me a hoarder
I subscribed and liked right out of the gate because the video just started and got right to business! No unneeded "intro" or B-roll
Bard also gets Charisma checks while reading Necromancy of Thay
What i learned about this video is even having 150 hours on the game you can still miss quiet a bit of things!
The snowburst ring puts an ice patch on the ground when you damage with ice. The mourning frost with that ring and the horfrost boots can make most battles much easier when your tank is making everyone slip and fall.
Nice video. I'm still learning the game's intricacies, but this is a nice bonus to my playthrough.
I already know most of these because I’ve watched all of the videos you dropped but I can’t stop watching 😂😂 love this stuff ❤
same
You can trade with Volo and get the Whispering Ring. And Shovel can be learned by magic users after going into the mirror.
lolth sworn drow also get dialog with the book of thay, and also if you're a cleric with abyss beckoners you can use spiritual weapon as well and it'll receive the buff.
Strange ox in Act 1 now lets out acid and then stands in it and dies everytime on my playthrough.
😮Whaaat ? Im still hear about/ discovering new details like that !
“No need to cast create water if you can see everything that’s invisible” create water is still helpful if you can deal lightning damage
It's so annoying that people call Losiir "hidden". He's a simple place holder, not hidden.
Strange thing to be annoyed by. I have 500 hours and didn’t know.
I wouldn’t be annoyed by it too much, Lae’zel was statistically the LEAST played origin character so a lot of people don’t know about Losiir.
Have you tried whining about it on the internet?
Not many people like Laezel. People don't play her nearly as much as, per se, Gale or Shadowheart. He isn't hidden by any means, just not exactly very common for most play throughs.
Imagine being annoyed by something so mundane.. yikes
30:29 You don’t need to sit on them, you can just place something large on the chairs. I used the large glass bottles on the shelf next to the chairs
necromancy of thay is really easy to roll through if you are a cleric of lolth. there is a special option if you are specifically for lolth.
I discovered this in early act 3 and found the extra 2k handy :)
You can buy Volos ring from him when you first meet him in the Grove, just click trade icon on lower left of screen during dialogue.
A 18 dexterity charater can disarm Voss with 30% chance of success with Disarming Attack (Ranged) from only 10 feet away from him while invisible.
0:16 squash it*
I did, I didn't know he could be a pet 😂
Once you have the ring, you can go directly to Mol, get the quest and turn it in (or get the quest before, doesn't matter), however:
There is one caveat, and that is to have good favor with Mol.
Note on shovel certain classes can convice shovel to join you permanantly even if you dont scribe the spell into your spellbook as a wizard.
i got a funny hidden interaction no one seems to mention if you get the lute from alfira, then play it at the party with her after you save the druids grove she joins in for a song and a crowd forms around you guys 😂
for lump you can also get them to fight for you and before the end of fight kill lump and loot the head 17 int, enjoy it's a free fight because lump is already in fight he don't really care about your attack against him
Damn! All these secrets in Act 1 alone! I got 2 toons to lvl5 100 hrs of playtime. Ain't no way I'm gonna find all these secrets...
22:46 If you happen to have the corpse of any one of them tiefling children you can actually use it on them use an elixir of giants strength and equip a strong 2h weapon and get carried by them because they can't actually be in the fights so you just beat everything up with them. ez cheese strat for underdark
Rofl
Who the fck came up with this
" MORNINGLORD'S RADIANCE" BUFF CAN BE REAPLLIED @ CEREMONIAL WEAPON PUZZLE ROOM, just re-place ceremonial weapon on pedestal.!!!
I had no idea Boooal existed. I missed that part of the Underdark.
You can place pots or other items on the seats for the secret door to open.
Apologies if someone commented already
You can actually get Ethel's Hair and still kill her if you're willing to take a somewhat tedious approach to the fight.
The game will get somewhat confused later on with NPCs potentially speaking as if you had both spared her _and_ let her live, though.
so Losiir shoulder texture is bugged for everyone or some because mine is bugged too.
I can't believe i missed Soo much now to look through everything while I'm still at act 1, good thing i got lost
Bro Quil is my favorite companion tbh happy I did a Durge run for her
30:36 you can also place a vase or box on the chairs to open the door
the spear of the absolute is actually somewhat useful vs the watcher in the underdark, on high difficulties, if you are not experienced enough to know how to otherwise cheese it.
also, fun fact, in order to get fake excalibur, without succeeding the check or being a clerik respectively, hit yourself or one of your companions with a slashing weapon, so blood spills on it ~
8:04 Danse Macabre summons 4 ghouls now, fwiw
There’s more dwarf meat in the goblin camp. Some on tables, some on the spit. I think my Durge has 10 pieces rn.
I ussually just get Glut to walk into the mushroom field Balen is in as he does not trigger mushrooms to blow either, then just move the back pack and noble stalk like you would any item over the ground untill its safe to grab for the player.
There is also a very good greatsword in act 1 that you can easily miss. The one held by flaming fist trying to save the counsellor
On my very first play through I had all 6 of the brains on my tav. Thank god I had terrible inventory management
Ring of protection is great in 5E saving throws are great particularly on fighters. Shape shifters boon ring you can trade with the Ox in act 1 is god tier item that can combine with guidance cantrip to easily pass any dialogue check in the game.
holy crap! i'm missing so much things in my current playthru! thanks
So I tried to do the trick to get Hellrider's gloves, standing back and letting them fight but Zevlor is the one that punched, knocking out the Human instead.
