      @@MrSkinkarde The clue was in him saying "natural ability". These level of snooker greats all started from childhood with immense natural ability to pick up and learn to play the game really well from a young age. It doesn't matter how much you practice at snooker, if you don't start early AND have great natural eye and feel for the game, you're never ever going to get even close to someone like Jimmy White, Ronnie O'Sullivan etc.
      Sorry to burst your bubble, but many things in life most of us will never be able to be particularly good at no-matter how hard we try. That's just life and you've got to accept that. I'd love to be as great as many things as the world's finest are, but it's never going to happen, and even if I could get that good with hard work I'd still have to just focus on one thing to master.
      Just sitting on youtube trying to feel clever by belittling others who make simple and perfectly reasonable statements of wishing they had such natural ability as a given sports or other professional is just weird tbh.

    That brown at start of the break was typical Jimmy, instinctive and completely outrageous, fantastic to watch such a gifted player, such a shame he couldn't convert his awesome natural ability in to the titles most snooker would have loved to see him win.

    • @kashiffarid8175
      @kashiffarid8175 Рік тому +1

      and I'll add to that by saying that shots like the brown you mentioned are exceptionally remarkable when you consider the way snooker was played back then. in 99% of the cases, players would've just rolled in behind the brown. It's only now that top players take the attacking option about half of the time. Back then, it was outrageous. As for not being able to convert, what he had in terms of potting ability and intimidating flair was countered by relatively weaker tactical play and positional accuracy. You need to have both to consistently dominate. However, the insane (and sadly under-utilised) talent has him still scoring centuries at 60, performances that others of his era simply can't emulate.

    • @philbartlett395
      @philbartlett395 Рік тому +2

      @@kashiffarid8175 very few players would even consider playing the brown shot let alone excecute it perfectly, angled shots in to middle pocket are hard enough but to play it with such pace was exceptional, the slightest contact with side of pocket would have resulted in a missed pot, one of the best shots I've ever seen.

  • @thisnicklldo

    I saw him when he was 18 and British Amateur champion, playing an exhibition at a small snooker club in the Midlands. Pretty sure he shared the exhibition with the then Womens Amateur Champion, can't remember her name. He also played some of the clubs established players, winning easily of course, I seem to remember a couple of big breaks, maybe a 125 or so. The main impression I had was of a bit of a lad who hit the ball incredibly hard, was as thin as a rake and smoked a lot. Wasn't obvious to me that he would become the superstar he became later, but he was already very entertaining to watch. The brown in the break in this video was typical of what he did that night several years earlier - jaw-dropping cue speed with precision, and no fear.

    The greatest break ever is a 147 in 5 mins and 20 secs. This was top-notch.

    If it wasn't for Alex Higgins and Jimmy White the game would not be as big as it is Today.

    According to me people saying its sad he never won a world title should also consider that his opponent eve though did not have his skills but did have a better positional play i mean in this video too you can see how all over the place his positional play is compare that to ronnie hendry and others still think he should have won one but according to me its the only issue that resulted in him not winning a world championship

    His best years were 1981 - 84 but he was still young and inexperienced back then.
    No one played snooker with as much ease as White did.
    After that he got himself a stupidly heavy cue and his positional play went to pot.
    See video above.
