Bonito, tailor, salmon and squid - Kayak Fishing Sydney Harbour

- This morning I'll be fishing the beautiful Sydney Harbour on the east coast of Australia.
I start off by collecting some live bait, then begin dropping them instantly. After catching a salmon, bonito and tailor, a curious arrow squid arose from the depths and harassed my live bait. I dropped a jig down and hooked him instantly. He was thrown out and trolled with no luck, unfortunately. I have been eluded by the yellowtail kingfish again but hopefully, we get him next time.

"Out of respect and courtesy for others, I refrain from naming spots unless it's a very popular spot. I don't mind others mentioning the spot it in the comments and I often leave enough evidence for those that want to find the spot, to be able to work it out from the video." - Shroom (@nbdshroom).

@@hoodlumhunter Thanks mate cheers🐟🎣
You spilled your burley on my screen😂
More videos like this🤙🏻, I kayak fish around Sydney and love to see vids like these
More to come! Thanks mate.
Hey bro do you reckon a 150m spool of braid would be enough for this kind of fishing or would I be spooled cuz with 50lb braid I can lock up and pump the fish
What lures you find works well for those salmon, bonito and kings in the harbour?
Hi mate for a metal I would use Halco Twisty 10g. For a soft plastic, I would use a Zman 2.5 Slimswim Opening night colour.
Hey bro do you reckon a Daiwa saltist hyper 7 foot 9 PE 4-6 would be a good live bait outfit in Sydney harbour with a saltist MQ 6000 with 50lb j braid?
Was the yakka right on the bottom when the Bonnie took it
Was 2 winds off 🤙
I live across the ditch. Are there any harbours in NZ that recieve similar action to Sydney harbour?
Awesome!
Where in the hell you park there when everything is like metered?
That's what I was wondering?
Hey man. I'm pretty sure the parking along Lavender Cres (street that loops around watt park) is not metered.
Do you use circle hooks for live bait?If so do you have any tips on using them?
Pretty sure I was using normal J hooks in this video. Circle hooks are still good though.
If you use circle hooks use a slightly lighter drag so the fish can pick the bait up and swim off with it.
Hi mate , mind to ask where do you park your car ?
What length rod daiwa you using?
The one I’m using for the livebaits is 6 foot and 4 inches (6”4’). Shorter is more comfortable to use on the kayak.
I deep did you dropped your livie?
Let it hit the bottom and 3 winds up.
How good was that session.
It was awesome fun. Hopefully I get the kingy next time.
Are bonito fish big ?
Very!
Justin
Well, Dale, they are
what's called a trophy fish.
Is that lavender bay??
Yep 👍 thanks for the support!
Hectic see you out on the yaks brother and nws all the best
Hi what rig or lure you used for the tailor? Thanks.
Hi mate. It's just a running sinker rig with the sinker sitting above the swivel. If you pay close attention to my line you can pause the video and see the entire rig.
Moonman Fishing thanks, I saw that u use this rig for ur live yakka, and sinker is pretty heavy, any reason for that?
What were you throwing into the water ?
Burley pellets and bread stirred in boiling water the night before. Buy 1 loaf of white slice bread. Pick it apart and throw the pieces into the boiling water.
🔥
👍👍👍👍
Thanks Mike!
what wharf is that?
Hey mate. Out of respect for others, I refrain from naming spots. However, there is more than enough clues in the video to easily find the spot I am fishing. A simple google map search is not too hard.
around what time did you head out?
Oliver Burgess Hey mate. If I remember correctly, I was catching my livebait around 6:45am.
The kayak vids r crakka
Should have cooked up that squid.
Haha yeah maybe should have. Got too excited to livebait it.
What size is that and is it circle or j hook? Also, how you rigged your yakka?
I believe it was a Gamakatsu octopus 4/0.
