I would try some actual side by side tests of your own to verify this topic. The things at Brulosophy tend to return a "doesn't matter" verdict all too often. This topic is style dependent as well. But gravity is not the only part of this conversation. Attenuation is really at the heart of it. Did you get the best yeast performance by attenuating at the high end of that yeast's range? If not then this could be a signal of yeast health issues or an underpitch which often lead to taste worthy flaws.

The music volume was incredibly distracting for me. Anyone else?

I like to start with the crush of the grain for all grain. More surface area equals more extraction.

my last 2 brews ended at 1.015 and 1.018. Both lagers. Although the 1.018 started at 1.069 (Maibock). Both do not taste sweet like I expected. Very crisp and clean. I would expect to notice a difference between a 1.015 and 1.025 beer though

I think I figured out an issue that was causing my problems today. I noticed when I recirculate my mash the temp can go up 5 degrees above my set value. So If set to 150F it spikes up to 155. I noticed if I don't recirculate it held a very steady temperature.

10 gravity points is equal to 1.31 abv not something that I could detect. Cheers
