@@hithere7080 right, but there are constants across the systems - for example they all emulate NES. A valid test could have been "how long does the battery last on each system running Super Mario Bros on the NES at maximum brightness with sound switched off?"
Yass, I really like rg300 too. Can't handle some harder to emulate games, like DK Country etc without frame skip but still, the device is really nice with great d-pad and buttons.
I bought an RG 350M at the beginning of June, and I keep checking the shipping tracking constantly ;-; Its stuck in New York somewhere, but I can't wait until it finally arrives!
Hey, I just received mine this week- It looks like we bought at the same time. I actually live in Brooklyn, NY, so they are delivering the shipments, yours should be coming soon I suspect.
I would be careful with the bitboy. I got one a while ago and it makes a high pitched noise whenever the system is on. From what I’ve found, their build quality isn’t always consistent.
@@kroser1983 Check out Panda MiMi's channel. She just put up a video couple of hours ago and it is for sale on Retromimi. I am very new to the emulation scene and I have to say, RG350m looks really nice (as does RK2020 in aluminum). I will just have to learn how the whole ROM thing works.
Emulation quality on PSP is not as good as you say. Non even scaling in ALL emulators, crazy input lag on SNES, screen tearing on GBA, shimmering on GB/C, improper sound emulation on MD and so far. PSP has great potential in emulation, but it is wasted
@Prakash Gurung Nonsense, the PSP is by far weaker than even the cheapest device featured here, it just has the ability to play PSP and PS1 natively. You certainly won't see it play N64 like some of better chinese handhelds. And it's also certainly not powerful enough to run modern, more accurate emulation cores.
Ordered my RK2020 back in early june, just got it yesterday. It came with the firmware and a handfull of games and i ABSOLUTELY love it. I honestly only bought it to play Starfox 64, Spiderman 1, and Pokemon. Getting Spiderman on there was super easy and the gameplay for me is silky smooth. Love these vids man.
I recently bought an RG 350M. If forgot to change my adress from my ex’s place so it was delivered there. Now she’s holding it hostage. Can’t wait to check this thing out. It will be fun exploring this nostalgia machine. I also always wanted a metal body handheld, and I became a real dedicated gamer when I got my first PlayStation, so there are a lot of titles that bring back memories, and even a lot of titles I never got to play back in the day. Koudelka to name one. And parasite eve. I’m going to enjoy this so much, taking it along vanlife road trips with my new gf! I’m contemplating video content for UA-cam as well. Handheld gamer on the go!
2:47 that is not a Retroid pocket, that is a powkiddy a19, that was a third party pre release version and it is trash. the retroid pocket is a HUUGE upgrade
Also, his comment about lack of shoulder buttons makes no sense. The console has all 6 buttons on the face, making all the games playable. Whether that's your *preference* or not if a different conversation.
@@thewiirocks That is still not playable for PS1 if you map the shoulder buttons on those 6 face buttons. Try playing Time Crises ,see if it's not very cumbersome having any of those face buttons as your shoulder buttons.
Rocking the ODroid Go Advance Black Edition. 4 shoulder buttons, build isn't as bad as he says imo. Putting it together took 10 minutes. Received it within a week of ordering.
Don't say rk2020 emulates n64 and Dreamcast perfectly because that's not true. It emulates part of both catalogues, that's all. But neither it emulates the whole catalogue, nor it emulates them perfectly.
@@MrLoggfreak Exactly. But this video is full of strange comments. For example, assembling the Oga yourself is a con. But assembling that Gameboy-like device is good. Why?
Here are the most important considerations. 1. Does the dpad pivot in the middle (no pressing opposite directions). 2. Can you do native pixel per pixel display? (black borders are fine), 3. Can it handle Sega Genesis sound. 4. Input lag. If you're buying something on the way the shell looks you're the type that'll spend the rest of your life bouncing casually between 5 minute plays of a few hundred ROMs then shelve it. I buy one of these to sink hours into a single game before moving on. I want it to play well.
My PS Vita 1000 has become my favorite handheld, the system just has so much to offer ....I gotta get me a 2000 unit from Japan I like the color options. I still love the OG PSP its the most comfortable system in hand.
The 351P is hands down my favorite. it's everything I need. I initially wanted a PSvita, but seeing as the cheapest one I could find on amazon was nearly 300$, I decided to go with this emulator. I'm quite pleased.
what about the RG280V? How does it compare to the 300? I was thinking of picking the 300 up for myself and the 280V for my sister. She's a lot smaller than me and she travels a lot. I was thinking the smaller package would work better for her. I like using my handhelds while I lay in bed at night. I'll play for 2-3 hours before turning in.
literally the only thing holding me back from getting the retroid pocket is the lack of shoulder buttons hopefully they'll release an updated version that has them
Great video as always guys! Really enjoyed the honesty about the underrated products, the original bittboy and RG300 may be old and less powerful but the overall experience of their community-driver software is sometimes still way better than some more recent/powerful ones and the buttons actually felt great.
Sorry to ask a silly question , but will the RG350M be able to run Championship Manager via DOSbox ? It's my fav game ever and to be able to play this on my travels would be a dream. Any help would be appreciated.

With the piboy kind of out now as of August/ September 2020 this may be irrelevant, but noticed you didnt have a gpi case mentioned here in this list. Yes it does just run off a pi zero, but it does very well with stuff upto ps1 games. And is under 80 usd to put together.
Everyone that's overwhelmed with recent releases and consoles should get old games and I'm so glad that it's so accessible now this is peak gaming , why? Because of years of amazing catalogue in superior devices... I want to go on a trip with just this in my pocket
Completely ok with your list. And don't forget you get great cheaper experience just by buying New Pocket Go and RG350 normal plastic versions which are great. Special love to classic small Pocket Go which is the cheapest greatest way to play anywhere on the go. So small but so accurate little console, I really love taking it with me anytime in my pocket. RK2020 is great but I feel we just need to wait for Anbernic and Bittboy to release new powerful 2021 beasts. Stay tuned !!! *
You mentioned the lack of shoulder buttons as a reason to not buy the retroid pocket, but perhaps you didn't realize that it has 6 face buttons. The extra 2 face buttons would naturally be in place of the shoulder buttons I assume, which some may like and some may not(though for fighting games its an obvious advantage), but all the buttons necessary to play games seem to be there.
If you take the RK2020 and Odroid Advance Go apart you will see they ripped off the hardware design of the ODroid Go Advance, it copies the Odroid's circuit board almost to a T. That's why the RK2020 is able to run the firmware of the Odroid Go Advance.
juste bought & received my odroid go advance, paid halt it's price with customs. I wish I saw this video before as I had doubt with the RK2020. But anyway I had an experience assembling my device. Good video !
#Question With Retro Handheld MAME, Can We Play Arcade Shooting Genre Like "Alien 3 The Gun" Without Analog, Only D-Pad ?? Can We Play It ? If Know Please Answer Me .. Thanks
Where can we buy the Clockwork Pi Gameshell? I've been looking on and off over the last few months and it doesn't appear to be available anywhere. Out of stock on the official site, no Amazon listings and no results on ebay either.
I need a retro handheld to be able to run xbox/ps2 games for example need for speed underground 2 and def jam fight for new york, when is this stuff possible? It should be possible now, but not done yet.
for rraspberry pi based ones prefer the retrogpi case with the pi zero w. running retro pi. great build quality and ips screen. you have too set itup. but once it is setup and configured. it is a great handheld. play mine all the time
Possibly the most disappointing handheld of 2020. Looks nice, decent sticks etc. let down by shitty firmware and 256 meg of RAM. Its entering a market where the minimum expectation is now 512mb. I think they'll revise the product and put 1gb RAM in it before the end of the year and if they are smart they'll make it an open system so other developers can do something with the software.
I just can't decide. My favorite so far are the RG350p and the Pocket Go V2. But I don't have to do anything without Linux or stuff like that. So I'm a bit afraid. I just want a handheld, put some SNES and Gameboy Games on it and that's it. Isn't there a good Android based handheld, so I can install the Retroarch App with DIG-Frontend from Playstore?
@@Steven-r1v3n If you want to play PSP games you made a good choice. But I agree with RG. If you are only looking to play up to PS1 RG350 is all you need. I ordered a RK2020 too. But I got it mainly to play Dreamcast games when I'm not home or relaxing in bed.
The Bittboy New PocketGo V2.1 (metal version, or plastic version with rainbow buttons) does not disappoint. If you're strapped for cash, this is a good second option. Do note that like all of the consoles listed in this video, you'll need to be prepared for possible faults with the hardware/ software, and know what to do if a problem arises.
The only thing annoying me with rg350m is the impossibility of connecting additionals pads for playing multiplayer in local with friends... i'm still waiting for an upgrade of the q400
@Retro Dodo , I follow your channel often because I like to hear your take on each new handheld. It helps me make decisions on what to buy these days. Now I have to ask you directly.. Serious question.. I have purchased the RG350M already, but I really want to know if you think the GKD 350H from last year is still worth it in 2020. I mean, it has kits available for adding the second set of shoulder buttons, metal housings with button kits, tutorials on Samsung battery upgrades, etc.. so it definitely has some options available for it, but is it still worth it to get or do all of the new systems out or coming out make it an obsolete choice for 2020?
Why the hell do they all have such a small screens wtf , i was hyped on getting one but the size of the best ones is so small for me to enjoy . If only they were at least the size of DSi.
Should I pick up one of these? Or wait for the retroid pocket 2? I just want to play games all the way up to ps1 good. Dreamcast would be nice but not a dealbreaker.
Thinking of getting the RG350M. I have a retropie 4.1 hooked up to my TV, with some save files for games. I'm concerned mostly with my pokemon saves on my GBA. Anyone happen to know if I can easily copy my GBA saves from my retropie into the RG350M?
RG350 and RG350M are the same but, I would lean over the normal RG350 because it's pretty much the same as the M but much much cheaper. M doesn't have a great battery life either because of the sharper screen and has colour accuracy issues.

I mean, that 1.5ghz processor and the ability to overclock are serious selling points, but will either of those put it anywhere above the RG350M?
Why the hell do they all have such a small screens wtf , i was hyped on getting one but the size of the best ones is so small for me to enjoy . If only they were at least the size of DSi.
The DSi has two 3.25-inch (83 mm) TFT-LCD screens. RG350M as one 3.5" IPS Color Glass Panel. Are you talking about total size or screen size here?
@@WilMcCandlish possibly talking about dsi xl?
Should I pick up one of these? Or wait for the retroid pocket 2? I just want to play games all the way up to ps1 good. Dreamcast would be nice but not a dealbreaker.
Where the hell did you get your pricing? The pocket go sells for like 50 and the others sell for more too
Thinking of getting the RG350M. I have a retropie 4.1 hooked up to my TV, with some save files for games. I'm concerned mostly with my pokemon saves on my GBA. Anyone happen to know if I can easily copy my GBA saves from my retropie into the RG350M?
I want to make a GameCube handheld with a 20 dollar adreno 540 smashed screen phone. Can I connect usb c to an hdmi waveshare 3.5” screen?
RG350 and RG350M are the same but, I would lean over the normal RG350 because it's pretty much the same as the M but much much cheaper.
M doesn't have a great battery life either because of the sharper screen and has colour accuracy issues.
What do you recommend if I want a handheld to just play SNES, Gameboy, and GBA games?

@@RetroDodo Will do. Thanks!
What would be the best game boys to get just for trading with leaf green and emerald if I play them I play on D's lite
Is your Pocketgo 2 Metal Dpad funky? Mine doesn't seem it responds well
So far so good!
Does the RG350 have stick drift like the Switch does? Or do the joy sticks just look like the Switch joy sticks?
I've never seen anyone mention stick drift on the rg350
Hey Brandon, are you going to do a review of the newer OGA upgraded Black Edition?
