G'day Jarod, thanks for this video. I am a 'land' photographer out of Qld. UW is a whole different beast. I found the Gpros for photography dont cut it. I bought the TG-6 and the PT-059 housing to step up a little, though, I am not sure how to setup the rig for strobes. What gear and brands do you have in this video for wide and macro?
Hi Derek, was just in QLD diving the GBR. Super spoiled. In this video I have 2x Inon z240 strobes trigged by fibre optic cables attached to the housing. The TG5 or 6 don’t need accessory lenses to take awesome macro (the microscope mode is kind of the cameras party trick - it’s awesome) and for wide I use the Backscatter M52 Air Lens, or for super-wide I use the UWL-04 28mm ultra wide angle conversion lens.
Cheers, just watching your previous video on the 5 that covered heaps. Yes on the GBR I was there last Sept. I just I got back last Sunday from a week of diving in North West Bali. Menjangan island with Java in the background was amazing. 50m viz at 25 down. The coral fans were huge and the macro life is up there (or even better) with GBR. The 30m coral wall was very healthy. I killed my Gopro 8 so hence the TG-6. UW photography is the trickiest. I just booked Truk Lagoon next year for 4. So hopefully I can get my skills up for shooting those wrecks.
Great video, very helpful thanks!
10:06 pic is dope
Totally worth the ripping current and 2 meter swell 😂
Hi . is this camera can change shutter speed on video mode , example HD 60 fps and 1/120 shutter speed. thanks :)
Yep! 4K at 30fps and 1080p at 120fps. I haven’t got a lot of experience with the video modes though!
Hey Jared Thanks for sharing.
What size are the floats you have on your rig?
Hi Darren, they’re small 280g floats (55x50x25mm)
