I don't put air-conditioning or use it rarely . I only heat wind shield mildy . The minute it clears it is off . I try to coast as much as possible . I mostly drive at sixty . I have found even if I drive 70 my actual travel time in both 60 & 70 AVG speed is not very different. In winter extra layers of clothing and do exactly the same above .

Hi Andrew. I have just come across your FANTASTIC channel as I am about to get my first EV. I absolutely love your videos and have totally "binged out" on the veritable treasure trove that you have provided! I really like your IONIQ 5 and would definitely get one myself if I had the money. I am considering a more humble Vauxhall Mokka-e which, despite sharing the same mechanics as the dreaded DS that you leased, I feel has more subtle design both inside and out. Also, the £29k price tag for a brand new top-of-the-range one is quite appealing. My first foray into EVs was having an ID.3 as a hire car the other week which I absolutely loved. The instant torque delivery of EVs, as you describe in your videos, blows you away, doesn't it? Many thanks again for your wonderful insights and I look forward to seeing more in the future. Best regards, Matthew.

I had my first dead battery issue (in nearly 2 years of ownership ) following a long drive through awful weather. I arrived with about 5% charge remaining but did not charge it for a few days while I waited for Octopus's lowest cost power. Having eventually worked out the the physical key needed to be rotated clockwise in the lock, I was able to start the car with my small battery pack. As such, this became a minor issue but I will fit a Bluetooth battery monitor.

I am rather surprised and pretty disappointed by the efficiency you're getting from the Ioniq 5. It's quite ironic ......... the original Ioniq is far more fuel efficient, but in fairness it is a smaller car. The Ioniq 5 is, as you say, a big car and I can't help but wonder if Hyundai just went a bit OTT with it?
I'm guessing that if they'd have made it just a bit smaller, with a slightly smaller battery, the efficiency would have been better, the car may have appealed to more people ..... and best of all it would have been cheaper!
I've seen the car up close and decided it's just too big for my needs. Same goes for the Kia EV6, which is such a shame because I really love the design of it. Better than the Ioniq 5 in my opinion.

Glad to see another Ioniq 5 video Andrew. That efficiency wasn't bad at 178Wh/km, my Ioniq 28 classic editition gets between 140Wh/km(winter approx) to 100Wh/km(summer) in Tasmania. You need to arrive around 10% not 52% SoC though next time lower the better really so we can see what how it gets from 10-80% if it matches marketing. Wow Jack is tall definitely hadn't seen him standing next to the others like that before, nice to know if a car fits him it will fit me(6'4") easily. When will Flaviana come back btw? Forgive me butting in but I changed form an e-Niro to an Ioniq 5 at the beginning of September, both were two wheel drive long range models. On mixed motoring with about 50% motorway and climate control set to auto permanently I got 4.2 miles per KWH on the Kia and 3.7 on the Hyundai. I would say the Ioniq is more solidly built than the e-Niro and the internal space is amazing.

I think is a general point but I think it's valid. I understand that Tesla is the bench mark but it's 10k more and what do you get for that extra 10k really?
The estimated used ranged for a journey is a an easy software fix so use your powers to tell Hyundai.
The 5 has things the Tesla doesn't, if you but the Y it's a 60k car without a HUD.
We always want more but forget we are lucky to have what we have.
Change for changes sake is never good so I'm just hoping the 5 will still be a good car in 10 or more years because yes it's an expensive car but the longer you keep it the cheaper it becomes. That's unless you bought it on a PCP which is a total rip off. You'd be better off remortgaging your house and looking at it as a long term investment. We need to look at cars like we look at PV or heat pumps etc. Not as penis extensions..

No good audio, no wifi Apple/Android play, and no rear window wiper. Chevrolet Bolt EV gives you minimum/maximum/average range read on the odometer (I test drove Bolt). I almost had a heart attack because Ioniq 5 does not give the range I can understand. Yet, I still like driving the car. I wish someone at Hyindai will fix these problems.

Jesus, the efficiency is terrible which is something Hyundai were known for being the opposite for. I can't get past the small, shallow boot and the omission of a rear wiper. Such an amazing looking car with all the potential to be great but it just doesn't quite get there. The power throttling after rapid charging is a bit of a worry, have you noticed it Andrew? Pay a small fortune to buy an EV then pay quite a bit to charge if it charges and then for what? To have to pay another small fortune a few years in to replace the battery? I think EV tech is not ready yet to be widely commercialised. My 2 cents go to hydrogen cells technology, when it is ready it will totally replace the EV! EVs are very very expensive cars to have!

You can get an ID3 for well under 30k. You can charge an EV for the equivalent of £6 for a tank of petrol. I save £600 a year on fuel. Do the maths. They are recycling batteries already and batteries are under warranty. The used EV market is very very strong.
Yes they need to come down in price and the technology needs to develop. But trolling with nonsense is a bit feeble tbh.

@@AlanTov Trolling with nonsense? Maybe you have solved your financial problems and 30K is nothing for you. By the way saving 600 quid per year is 6000 in 10 years at which point the battery will need replacement for 20000 quid. You do the math! Somebody needs a lot of money to buy and maintain an EV for lets say a 15-20year cycle and 2-3 ownerships. That is comparing to a diesel /petrol. I guess for the majority of people.

Apparently for you education is what you can grasp in your mind. I see it completely from a commercial value point of view after the 15 years life of a car. A regular car with some proper maintenance all you will have to do is fill up the tank and go. An EV will need 20000 quid battery replacement! Batteries prices will need to go down or EVs will be for the few!
