Mine just came today and I’m really thinking about getting that gearbox, I have lots of tires to play with and I agree with you the smaller 1/24 scale has something about it that keeps you going back to your collection, stay safe and keep the videos come mate 🇬🇧
I noticed that, taking some Dawn dish soap and scrubbing the tires getting that release agent off from the factory. Made it stick a lot better to the indoor course
I actually want a set of the trailer tires to put on my second trx4m for a stock look. Can’t find a part number for them or even for sale separately anywhere!
Have you tried any aftermarket 1" beadlocks yet? Apparently the bead on the traxxas tires/wheels don't work very well with what is already available upgrade wise..
The stock trx4m tires are to thick around inner diameter to fit the rc4wd beadlocks I already had. It bummed me out but the traxxas 9782 mickey Thompson tires look great
I never really went thru the modes on mine. Just straight to crawler mode. Is there a difference in speed and modulation? Or is it just a drag brake option?
Any issues with your shocks? Store displays along with my purchased defender model have some terrible stiction Blue aluminum shocks, bearing kit, and low speed transmission is what I left Hobbytown with.
iv been asking around. did you notice if your truck got noisy with the low gearing? mine got really loud. so much in fact that i switched back to standard gearing. with the low gearing it was instantly annoyingly loud. and once i switched back to standard it was very quiet. i might try it again tho once i find new transmission case screws. mine were all stripped i had to stick the tool in at an angle to get the screws out of it. was a pain. im gonna look for some screws in my box to replace them.
You can wrap weight in those wheels real easy also as far as a bit better performance. I love the crawl ratio trans in mine. Need overdrive! Or under for the rear. Enjoy
I think it’s geared low enough that you could get away with overdrive in the front for a little *more* wheel speed instead of underdrive where you’d lose a little wheel speed. I bet the turning radius would be stupid good with some overdrive too
Hey Tony, RC Reviews saw when you turn to the max, the TRX4m it has a tendency to bind. Have you noticed that. And is the gearing bit high for crawling in your findings? Lastly the SCX24 still from what you said is the more fun crawler to invest in yea ? vs the TRX4m. Can you do a TRX4m king of RC if not played out
Gearing is a $5 change. They made it for the general use market that will want a little speed and just drive it around the house. They appeased us by giving us lots of upgrades. Mine didn’t bind at any throttle range when steering left and right. I had made a clip to show that in my first video, but I forgot to insert it. If binding, the steering rate was set to high. Just dial it back.
I watched your video about that. I didnt even realize I was on your channel bro. I'm keeping the 2 I have but no more trx after that. I really hate that crap. I only just learned about it this week.
Something neat I noticed today, the replacement transmission/engine come with bearings instead of bushings like the stock transmission does.
Can't wait to get mine!! I have a red and a silver defender on order for my son and I plus 2 sets of crawl gears to go with them!

This would be wonderful with a small outrunner. Those little motors have lots of torque.
I ordered the flubber stufferz mount for the Komodo outrunner for mine

If I did, I’d probably use the RC4wd scrambler tires I love anyway. The traxxas bead does seem thick.

Well…I put in the full transmission. It has bearings in it, so it may not be the same experience

If the front wheels are binding when turning, it's almost always due to the servo trim not being set correctly
