Thank you for all your great tips. I bought my Traxxas on Friday a Christmas present to me. I came in took at something else. The price point was more than I wanted to spend. And didn’t want a buggy. The guys stated they had the new Traxxas but there on hold. I left. 1/2 hour later we can sell you a Traxxas. I booked on down. I opted for the bead lock rims and brass rings while I was there. This has got to be the best bang for your buck crawler rig ever.
Don't put grease in the CVDs, it attracts dirt and the mixture grinds them very fast, use dry lubricant like graphite powder or just a drop of 3in1 oil as Francis suggested
You can use graphite instead of grease on the CVD’s. Anything that’s not sealed, we use powdered graphite as it is smoother than grease at this scale and doesn’t attract dust and grime. Edit: Cheers!!

Going to have to try the low gears and bearing kit I suppose. I don't mind taking stuff apart and putting it all back together,I kind of like it really. 🤙
Thank you for the very practical solutions. May biggest complaint about Traxxas is the extremely cheap radio they include in their basic kits. I think this truck might get more people into crawling and trailing because of its price and the parts that will be available.
Very good point Michael. The radio feels good on the hands but it does need more levels of trim and endpoint adjustability. Much cheaper competitors offer those features
Looks like traxxas might have updated the steering link, picked up one today and there is quite a bit of clearance between the front tires and the link at full steering lock, and the link looks like it was redesigned with a little more clearance.
Bearing kit throughout will help the drive train fully. There are no bearing in the rear or drivelines either. Also the wheel options for the scx work but the traxxas tire beads are to thick to go in any wheel but theirs. So stuck with the options available. Flubberstuffers has motor mount plates for the micro Komodo and regular Komodo. Also hop ups for the trailer. And insurers for the tires. You can drill out brass hubs from the scx to fit the axel on the trx4m. It’s bigger. Then you get a few extra grams down low. I’m also interested to see if the rubbing goes away with the aluminum arm. Cheers!
I am new to this and just got my first TRX4 after watched your video. Can you do basic mod/upgrade step by step for beginner like me? So I can follow you in this journey. Thanks
I just got a TRX4M bronco from traxxas Christmas special where they sent it direct from the factory. I don't seem to have any binding on mine at all like your videos show. I was going to do these mods, but maybe they fixed it? The tires don't hit anything and if i turn it upside down and go super slow and turn the wheel they never stop. Either that or they limited the steering now from the factory. I'll have to try it on one of my other traxxas radios tomorrow.
just buy the bearing anywhere else separately :) you only need to know inner and outer diameters and thickness. Never bought a bearing kit when you can get better/different bearings anywhere else, same apply to screws/nuts :)
Good advice. A complete set of bearings and bought separately it’s pretty pricey though. So I will advise just the steering bearings. Four on alternative fast Eddie bearings started selling a complete bearing kit for $26

Right?? It’s not the worst decision on their part to keep the cost down on this vehicle. But it’s good to know what the side effects are off brass bushings and if one should upgrade the bearings in their specific situation.
Francis, again, you should really look at my comment from your previous video on this. The tire slightly rubs against the steering link on the Bronco but certainly doesn't bind up like you're showing. After trying this with three separate Broncos, I couldn't even come close to duplicating what you're showing. Perhaps you need to reset your endpoints (which is possible with the TQ radio as per my link) before trying to "fix" it. ua-cam.com/video/u5H03-SDNwU/v-deo.html
Thanks Matt. My endpoints were at default at 100%. I was experiencing binding with the tires. I was experiencing binding without the tires as well. It was noticeable with no load but much more significant under load. Tire rubbing out of the box, stiff CVD on a brass bushing at an angle, low motor torque with stock gearing contribute to the issue that is easily identified and addressed. Gearing change, steering bearings and tire placement allowed me to improve steering with endpoints, not decrease it. I really appreciate your input Matt SBG. My TRX4m was good but it is much more driveable now.

@@scalebuildersguild Yes I did. No effect. It is quite improbable that buyers of this vehicle will know to do a master reset after buying this, even if it did work.
The issue is very well experienced in enthusiast groups. The problem is more obvious on the rocks rather on the bench. Thanks again for taking the time.
@@RCReviewChannel I suspect a very limited few have the EPA set beyond the limit of the CVD then, in error, from the factory. The best advice perhaps is to try the TQi method to try and fix it. It doesn't seem as widely spread as you let on if I'm honest.
i got one about a month ago, and it sucks….iv nothing but problems with it
What are the biggest problems you've experienced?
Love the video but you kept calling it an scx24 from fms 😂
Ha ha. It’s their fault for naming the FCX in the SCX so close together
@@RCReviewChannel no doubt! Keep up the fantastic videos! You rock!
Yet another reason I am glad I didn’t get one. Who knows what else I would find wrong with it?
This is an insanely good vehicle backstock, for the money. The true potential though is muddying and updating it and making it your own.
@@RCReviewChannel Nah, I'm good. Thanks though. 🙂
thats a helll of a lot of upgrades just to make its out of the box performance basic.
So in other words, the FCX24 is better.
That thumbnail tho...
Almost thought it was Joe Biden trying to pitch toy car sales
I love your reviews, but PLEASE don’t point the led’s toward the camera. I don’t like being blinded the entire time while trying to see what you’re doing.
Yeah man, that was a crime. Good thing I noticed a little bit
i love how everyone complains about the steering and it binding and all this garbage yet i have never had an issue with mine. no binding, it turns pretty tight, zero issues with the truck. idk why you guys keep bitching about it
Full bearings in a fcx? Open up the trans. It’s not even bUshings. Just cheap white plastic on tiny shafts
Will do. Thank you for that.
Lol. First here
I dont understand why no one is comparing to the panda hobby 1/18 scales, I have the x2t and I'll give anyone a run for their money, from all the run vids I've seen of the trx4m my panda will walk all over them, jus saying not angry lol
All you needed to do was put some tape OVER the lights 🤦
For sure. Never had to do that before but will do that with this vehicle
Dude your audio and those lights are nuts. Can't.
Right on. Will fix.
lights are distracting
I had ordered 4 of these trucks and still need to go pick them up! But this whole problem has scared me from getting mine. I still don’t know how I feel about the binding issues 😢what’s your opinion Francis?!
It's only noticeable for some, in high performance slow crawl situations. What's essential is the low gear. Will fix the modulation and most of the steering. This vehicle is incredible.
Mine is not binding, but I've been running it every day for a week and it's loosened up , the shocks too and the tires seem better after spinning them on the rocks
Zero problems with mine so far.
