The Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn will occur on December 21st, 2020. The two largest planets in our solar system will align in the night sky within 0.1 degrees, almost looking like a single, bright star.
In this video, I photograph the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on December 18th, as the two planets get close to aligning with each other.

I've always loved looking at Saturn out of all the planets. Its always had me in awe at how thick that ring can go.
Best video I’ve seen for the event, even a couple days early. Awesome job, congrats! It was beautiful. I was hoping to see it but it was so foggy here that night in Northern California. This made up for it! Thank you!

Moral of the story: if you have no expensive equipment like this then 21st december is a usual day for you.
uh no, if it wasn't cloudy you could see it with binoculars and photograph it with a point and shoot, or even a phone.

Not really, I took nice pictures with my binoculars and phone.
I'll make a prediction. Your weather apps and the news says it'll be cloudy. You'll go out early that night and it'll be crystal clear and cold and you'll get the best shot of the two planets you've ever taken :D
These will be below the horizon earlier, so viewing time is not very long depending on where you live. Most in the Eastern US will only see this just after sunset, maybe an hr or so. Then they will be below the horizon.

That's what happened to me 2 days ago all apps literally said it's even gonna be very hazy but damn I swear it was the most clear night, it was so crispy that I could even see stars from inside with lights on! It was amazing.

I've been watching both planets for months now and when I found out that they were only gonna get closer as the year got to an end I became even more excited. Now they closer than even the circumference of the moon as we see it on Earth! Clear skies over here🤗

Love your videos, I recently bought a 2nd hand reflector with a cheap mount and got a very wobbly photo by holding my phone to the lense, I was blown away with what I could see. We all know what the planets look like but to see them live with your own eye brings a wonder I haven't felt since I was a kid. I feel a pain in my wallet coming. Clear skies.

Great image, thank you! the ASV here in Victoria, Aus had a public viewing night at a horse race track about the time you did this, and we also focussed first on the conjunction before they were too low - but still visible - and became fuzzy red. Amazing!
That is really impressive! At one point I could see the rings around Saturn and the Moons of Jupiter. Spectacular! BRAVO!
Trevor, two nights ago, I finally got my new telescope (backordered for four months). This is my first real quality telescope. I decided to see what I could see with it an d chose the Andromeda Galaxy. I was absolutely floored and excited beyond belief when I saw the galaxy via the image my camera took. It was out of focus, but still...I can't describe the charge it gave me. I finally felt like I was making progress! Now I can't wait for more clear skies to take better photos of Andromeda and start this journey you have shown me. Thank you for introducing me to this wonderful world. "Clear Skies"!

I’m hoping for clear skies on the 21st but sadly all I have are binoculars. Still it will be an amazing event that I won’t live to see again in 2080. 😊

Like the great nebula in Orion, binoculars is one of your better ways to see it. The wide field of view let's you see it in context. You can see the major moons of the systems. Binoculars are refracting telescopes, just lower magnification.
Enjoy. If you don't have binocular tripods, then grab a sturdy stick or fence line and rest the glasses on that prop to steady the view. Sitting down too helps with steady viewing.

It has been foggy in the valley where I live for almost 4 weeks now.
But I won't miss that probably ones in a livetime event and go to up into the local mountains, where it's always clear and where I have a a longer time to capture them, since they are higher abothe the horizon

I was fixing to watch this on my terrace, but I got six inches of snow on my terrace. So I'm watching it on the UA-cam video! It is beautiful. Even though I cannot see it live in the sky, watching it on the UA-cam video is better than nothing in my humble opinion! This is so amazing! ️ ☮️
