    I am feeling really down mentally and I saw this notification. It cheered me up a bit. I still have to wait 24 minutes tho for the premiere to start. But thanks for all these uploads, I love them. You got me into astronomy and it has helped a lot with my mental health.

      Totally for me also, I lost my older sister to cancer during Covid lockdown last June so wasn't able to attend funeral in Ozzie...these vids have helped take my mind off her, and looking at the milky way images helped numb my grief & steal my thoughts away from thinking about her.

      Hey, I’m just a random person from the internet, but wanted to say I feel for you. The lockdown has been a struggle for me too, beyond the normal season depression I deal with. But this channel was also a huge part of why I recently took up astronomy, and it’s been such a beautiful, life-affirming way reach out beyond my suffering and feel connected to the universe. The fact that every object in the night sky is shining its light right down at me actually makes me feel very big, and connected to my world. Keep looking up, and always ask for help if you need it. There are many organizations and people who devote their lives to, and derive great joy from helping those who suffer, in the mind or otherwise. Best wishes.

    I became Starstruck just a few months ago after a visit to Cherry Springs. It has been such a journey!! At age 73 I didn't think there was anything left that could so inspire & capture my interest. Since then I have been looking at stars & discovered the fuzzy stars on Orion's sword. I then got a Dwarf Smartscope on Cyber Monday, and have been capturing my first images of this nebula (which totally looks like a bird to me!!) Your video is incredible. I'm so impressed with your rig & your dedication. Thanks & clear skies!

    I have to say I truly enjoy and learn a lot from each of your videos. The downside in watching your videos is like home shopping. You view the million-dollar homes first (your videos) and then when it comes to actually make the purchase, it's just a modest small home that needs some fixing up. I have to remind myself that I am not tech-savvy and struggle with software programs for pic editing. And being disabled I don't have the ability to deal with long hour cold temp photography in the winter.

    I’m just starting out, strictly visual for now but man, the first time I slewed to the Orion Nebula it absolutely sucked all the breath from my lungs and even now I just can’t explain the raw richness of emotion that hit me. And even though I just have a 90’s Celestron C8 I got off some far out dude on Craigslist, and it was black and white in the eyepiece, in Bortle 4 skies with poor seeing, without anywhere the contrast or detail of these photos, the impact those ageless photons had as they hit my retina is absolutely beyond what language can convey.
    What a beautiful image dude, you really are a master. I’m looking forward to taking on astrophotography, although my bank account isn’t. But for now, the magic of finding objects and admiring them as-is, in real-time, is as much as my soul can bear.

    Nicely done, and I Like the feel/mood change...more laid back feeling to this vid. You are in your element again. I think showing things below the scope is helpful as well....cables, and hook ups, as well as the close-up on the actual mount set up. I also set my Raptor 61 up yesterday with the focuser on top....otherwise hits the mount when balancing. Getting ideas from others saves time and frustration sometimes.

      That's why I as a beginner skipped the normal Newtonian stage altogether and jumped right into the world of a Maksutov-Newtonian. It was a considerable financial issue, but in the end, I think it pays off beautifully. Now, still being a beginner, I own a small 90/1250 Mak, a 120/600 achromat refractor and a 190/1000 Mak-Newt. What I am lacking now is a tracking mount, as my EQ1 and EQ5 are still static. But I am not in a hurry, the tracking will come some day.

Secondly, with the larger scope so close to your house, the light from Orion has to wobble through any convection currents rising from the house. Minor points, please keep the videos coming!

    Agree that here in Melbourne Australia we are spoiled for great sky views like Orion and many others.
    My poor view equivalent is M31 Andromeda, that barely is 10° from North horizon. Best seen from Northern Territory here.

    • @Guido_XL
      @Guido_XL 4 роки тому

      Last December, I could see M31 Andromeda with the naked eye, almost at zenith. When I take my Celestron 20x80 binoculars, look to Cassiopeia and then to Mirach, I can easily find M31 in between. It gives me a sore neck, though ;) So, to compensate for this, I pan towards Orion and M42. Not now though, we are suffering from heavy clouding lately. Perhaps this weekend will be better.

    Amazing video as always Trevor. I think I'm pretty much as South as you are North. Orion gets very high in the sky here. Imw 43 degrees south (I think that's what I'm supposed to say lol)... We only get 5 hours of darkness in January and summer is quite cloudy so it's not always plain sailing to shoot it. Hearing you speak about it getting to - 20 degrees is crazy to me though lol. In winter here the coldest it ever gets is - 2. When this covid stuff is over you will definitely have to visit NZ. 🙌🏼🙌🏼

    In Germany, it has been cloudy since 2 weeks now and it will be cloudy for another week, not even a single night was suitable for astrophotography or stargazing.

      Yes, I experienced the same grief here in the middle of the Netherlands. Perhaps this weekend, skies may clear up. It cannot remain like this forever... Irgendwann möchte ich auch Mal wieder meinen 190/1000 Maksutov-Newton rausstellen und dieses Mal M42 aufs Korn nehmen, jetzt wo ich 12V Autositzheizmatten dran gebastelt habe, damit er draußen nicht auskühlt.

    You need to travel to Sydney Australia. At 8pm Orion's belt and nebula are directly over my house n on a clear night look's absolutely amazing.
