@@zackcordle4814That ending has an air of sadness to it, especially knowing that a lot of these small town places are going away with the rise of big chains and corporations. What made these towns unique is scattering to the winds.
"After Ruth died and the railroad stopped runnin', the café shut down and everybody just scattered to the winds. It was never more'n just a little knockabout place, but now that I look back on it, when that café closed, the heart of the town just stopped beatin'. It's funny how a little place like this brought so many people together."
One time there was this lake right outside of town and we used to go swimming and fishing and canoeing in it. But one November this big flock of ducks landed on that lake and the temperature dropped so fast that the ducks flew off and took that with them. Now they say that lake is somewhere over in Georgia.
The countryside, the old workshops and store fronts in the movie gave me a sad nostalgic feeling. I feel like there's memories from a past life, that I can't recall. Music can be very beautiful and poignant. Thomas Newman, you are a genius.
The very last scene showing the abandoned town, the old train tracks, and the front of the cafe with the paint chipping off and the wood rotting makes me cry every single time. It makes me nostalgic for a time I never experienced.
I can listen to this again and again. It's so languid. nostalgic. beautifully composed. and captures the essence of the story so well... positive yet melancholy. luv it.
This piece invokes a lot of feelings in me but it mainly reminds me we only get one shot at this thing called life and if you're lucky enough to spend it with the ones you love, you are truly blessed
Aaron Crain Omg when she said that I bawled up in tears. It was so sad, and when the town shut down after she died. I was like no the stories and the adventures must continue 😢😭💔

One of my favorite scores of all time... so beautiful and poignant... evokes such a deep well of feelings. Every time I watch this film it brings me to such tears
someone dear to my heart has terminal cancer. This song has been playing in my head a lot. She's too young to go, and has her first grandchild on the way. I hope she can make it to meet them, but at the same time she is a lady, and she knows when it's her time to go. I just ask myself why the universe takes the loveliest too soon.
Don't torture yourself asking that question. It can never be answered. We are all dancing on the head of a pin; a short dance in the sun, then we're gone. It is all so random.
I’ve lived in the deep South most of life. East Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Florida. I moved to New York in 1999, beautiful city but it was cold and fast paced. I like our story telling, our traditions, our slow pace, our architecture, our food, our trees, our mild weather. I don’t think I could ever live anywhere else but the South. This song reminds me of a lost love, and a lost friend. He died back in 1992. We had watched this movie together. A week later he died of Aids complication. I lost so many friend in one year. Around 30. No young man should ever have to go throght this harrowing experience. I remember listening to this song while driving between Atlanta and Birmingham. I had to stop by the side of the road. I don’t think I ever cried so much.
My mom show me this movie when I was 7 or something like this, we watch this movie so many times, then she died when I was 9 and I watch this movie and it recognizes me to her, and all in all I watch this movie 100 or 150 times
I love this move, but my mother died 2 years ago, I deal with it by not thinking about it, would love to watch the movie again but I know I cant, I will cry and maybe never ever stop
Please cry and almost dwell in lost love, but cherish Good and strong memories. It works like a charme. You feel Alive more at the end and keeps you keepin’ on.
Like a lot of people who love this movie and beautiful score, I get so emotional when I listen to this music. It reminds me of my mom who had to go to a nursing home just before her and dad passed on. When I saw the movie when it first came out, I was inspired to become a health care worker, and work with seniors in nursing homes. And, it brings me back to the 30's, as if I had a past life in such a place!
Thomas Newman's music is very beautiful! Fried Green Tomatoes holds such special meaning for me! Sad memories about a senior friend of mine passing on, the loss of my marriage, and my elderly parents having to move into a nursing home. This movie also inspired me to become a homecare nurse, and to work with the elderly in nursing homes. It's a lovely production, and a wonderful story!
“It's all right, honey. Let her go. Let her go. You know, Miss Ruth was a lady. And a lady always knows when to leave.” I remember growing up with this wonderful moving and this song always reminded me of being at my Nana’s with all of my family and loved ones. I can’t help but cry when I hear this, I think of her everytime. 😞
It’s just crazy to think that a movie with so many laughable scenes (example: when Evelyn crashes into the girls’ car in the parking lot) and a movie with this music, and one of the most intriguing and beautiful storylines, is the same movie.
la pelicula preferida de mi madre ,esta cancion me recuerda a ella cierro los ojos y ahi estas con ese olor a tu colonia anais anais y la frescura de la sombra de un arbol en verano.Siempre en mi corazon
Ninny Threadgoode reminds me so much of my grandmother that I cry every time I hear this or watch the movie! 38 years old and it's been one of my favorites since I was 8 or 9!
I've been in love with this movie since the first time I watched it. I don't know how many time I've done it, but everytime I do there's something new and still the same old feeling...
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. It tells two beautiful stories in two different time frames. Words can't express how pretty this piece is. Those of you who haven't seen this film, I highly recommend it. Long live Fried Green Tomatoes!
I saw this movie with my mom and one of my best friends a few years ago . Now my mommy just left this world to meet her loved ones and our maker. RIP mommy . One day will be together again❤️🙏
Aujourd'hui, quelqu'un de merveilleux m'a fait découvrir ce film... je ne sais pas si j'aurais la chance de le voir à ses côtés mais j'aime ce que je découvre... je raffole de ce que je découvre.. ♡
The filming was almost in my backyard. I grew up on fried green tomatoes - they were as part of my life like grits in the morning. This was my great grandmother's lifetime. Brings tears to my eyes - I can remember when this era was ending. Save the savagery of racism, I wish it didn't end. Not all towns were haunted by such nastiness.
I’ve eaten at the Whistle Stop Cafe. My father grew up in Forsyth, Georgia - a short drive to Juliette, Georgia, where this movie was filmed. Both my parents have died since then, but it’s fond memory of mine.
I remember getting all emotional during the brother’s funeral, mostly thanks to this music. It seems in 2020 that real emotion is gone from music. Anything to be different, apparently. I miss it.
This music is so moving and beautifully nostalgic. I can’t explain it. Anyone else feel this way?
Yes
We all feel this way about this soundtrack your not alone
Takes me back to the 90’s. To my childhood
Does anyone else cry once this song start playing
+Natalie R. Yes :(
+Natalie R. Every time. And yet I listen to it often.
I reflect. Then I want some fried green tomatoes.
always
All the time, i just watched it yesterday, i have been ignoring it for the years, how stupid WERE i
"It's funny how a little place like this brought so many people together."
And they actually got the food right in the movie! Most movies about the south get it wrong.
Reminds me so much of my hometown. Places like that unfortunately don’t exist anymore or are very rare to find.

How can a movie that made me smile so many times make me cry so much?
Buddy Threadgood!😀😀😀
Reading that and listening to this just made me teary eyed!
"You know a heart can be broken. But it keeps a beatin just the same."
I used this for my senior quote in my high school yearbook
Its got a lot of truth to it same with her other saying "god never shuts one door without opening another"
She's still out and about charming bees and raising honey.
ok now i'm crying, thinking about my sick grandma which was kind of the same
J Bro: She'll be charming bees long after we're all gone . . .
Such a beautiful line
Sometimes I think I catch a glimpse of her…
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
One of the best movies ever and the music is so full of feelings...it brings tears to my eyes everytime!!!
Reminds me of my grandparents, long gone...
Same happens to me.
One of most beautiful films I'v ever seen, and the music is unsurpassed. Amazing movie.
me too
I start crying the minute I hear the first note.
Me too.

It’s been my favourite movie for all time. We are kindred souls if you like this.

“I’ll always love you”- the bee charmer
"Death ain't nothing to be scared of. Look at me I'm at the jumping off place and I ain't afraid one bit!"
That’s the way I want to feel when I become an older woman
If you've ever loved and lost, this tune will resonate with you. The films characters are amazing even to this day. ❤️
This soundtrack will forever remind me of a happier time back in the early 90's, summer, when my brother was still alive.
how are you feeling ? hugs
Was born in 1990 and i love this movie so much. They don't make movies like this. Still watching it 25 years later almost every week.
The countryside, the old workshops and store fronts in the movie gave me a sad nostalgic feeling. I feel like there's memories from a past life, that I can't recall. Music can be very beautiful and poignant. Thomas Newman, you are a genius.
Vaurie I know the exact feeling. And I think you’re spot on.
I get this feeling anytime I go into a Cracker Barrel and look on the walls, like it’s part of my own past somehow. It’s always a strange feeling .
The music is like the wind rustling leaves of memories since past.
As I call it a joyful sorrow !
The very last scene showing the abandoned town, the old train tracks, and the front of the cafe with the paint chipping off and the wood rotting makes me cry every single time. It makes me nostalgic for a time I never experienced.
Thomas Newman: music from another world... such a genius
I wish we could go to that other world. This one is not so good.

26 year old straight male and I cry my fucking eyes out everytime...
You sound like my dream man! Haha this is my favourite film ever
Men do cry, after all, so the fact that you are a straight man is not a big deal.
Same here bro. Towanda!

@ Correct. Why the Gay reference as if only Gay men would cry.
