You're talking about cordyceps it's actually a fungus that does that and it was the ideal for the clickers in the last of us. It could kill an entire ant colony if the other ants don't kick said ant out and force it to die far away from the colony. It's a really interesting fungus
Russian tanks are designed so that the driver keeps his foot on the brake at all times, when he wants to go forward, he releases the brake. They literally don't have a go pedal, they have stop peddle that disables the tank from going.

1:14 very much yes. Early Russian countermeasures where basically 4 shotguns with a bore diameter of about 120mm. Which is some serious buckshot, especially since each BB was the size of a musket ball.

The NKVD mostly used firing squads or the nagant revolver to sort out counterrevolutionaries, so I don't think the makarov has as big a kill count as you think
Makarov would be a KGB gun NKVD was renamed after Stalin's death.
The Makarov was still the standard issue pistol for many soviet states' police and military, so it's definitely got a number of kills on it.
@@joost1120 I mean yeah, it's a service weapon afterall, I'm just saying that it wouldn't have been as prolific since I'm pretty it was issued after Stalin's time, when political executions were very rare. Now in the military I'm not certain but You're propably right that it was used to a great extend there
Edit: the makarov was used during the tail end of Stalin's time so it must have been used as an executioners weapon, allthough most of the executions took place in the 30s

Been a while since I played now, but that sort of got fixed. I think bigger ships like carriers seem to curbstomp corvettes, so lategame corvettes are mainly for having a fast fleet to clean stuff up with and stop piracy.
Well, that and they do well against the artilleries, since they're so many and evasive. If you don't have corvettes, then an enemy could punish that with a lotta artillery to take out your big ships.

26:05 You're judged based on your class, your hat loadout, and your selection of weapons in TF2. Which in turn you can take advantage of.
The tandem warheads are actually for defeating spaced and reactive armour, both stages are shaped charges and only the second one gets inside and cause actual damage. The one that goes straight above and explodes down is the NLAW while Javelin explodes straight ahead but flies from above. Also the schokakola is one of the best chocolates i ever had.
Stellaris is great I mainly learned through constant trial and error. Thankfully as the game evolved I was also fortunate enough to play as dlcs came out instead of learning it all at once.

Hey Paul! Since you touched the subject of Stellaris, i think you would be interested in reacting to one of Bokoen's videos. He often does some gameplay with games from Paradox, the same company that made Stellaris. The difference is that he more often plays Hearts of Iron IV, which is set in WWII, Victoria 2, which is set in the Victorian Era all the way to the Interwar Period, and then Europa Universalis 4, which is set between the beginning of Renaissance and the end of the Napoleonic Wars.
His videos have a lot of memes and a lot of interaction between players who are competing against eachother as nations, and there is a lot of historical references as well as some interesting moments of decision-making at strategic level and geopolitics. I bet you would love to breakdown some of the stuff they do compared to real life, as well as have some nice laughs.

i don't know what caused that header to show up there, (it's part of the main page), but you can remove it with inspect element function in your browser and just delete the highlighted piece of code it's extremely easy to do and it has no bad lasting impact since you're only removing it from that loaded instance of the page and it returns to normal on a refresh

Stellaris is a fun game. I've near 2,000 hours in the game.
I got the game when it first was released out into steam and I have played it since. And boy howdy, the games sure changed ALOT since then.
But its been alot of fun, it gets pretty fun and intense when you play vs friends, or friends of friends who can be trusted.
Some of the best fun is when you get a friend or two and just relax, talking in the chat and slowly playing the game. Having some drinks and just.. relaxing.
Thats how I play Stellaris anyways, just relaxed and enjoying the game as is.
But if you want some good content of Stellaris playthrough's, Lathlax here om YT has TONS and he's been around for most of Stellaris's lifetime

I rarely have seen people going down the routes of genetics, with xeno compatability.
Most people see it as too tedius having to micromanage and tailor genes to a specific species.
But then again thats alot of time to manage worlds, maybe controlling pops migrations, which planets can have what kind of pops..
But ethics wise: I also rarely see people go Xenophile outside of being a megacorp. Or fanatic xenophile for a buddy whos a megacorp, with them teaming up to make huge profits.
Criminal syndacites are the one truly unique playstyle.
They are a nuisance, easy to kick off worlds.
And they can't do much diplomacy in the game, but players HATE having to face them. And they'll bribe you monthly payments of whatever, just so you don'y annoy them.
Or pay you TOO harass other players.
Its a very fun nuisance playstyle. And no other in game government is like it
4:44 speaking of radiation. If I remember correctly, I read that the amount of radiation to guarantee a person gets cancer is higher than the amount it takes to kill. Can't double check the numbers as i can't find the book I read it in, but still a random, and weird fact.

I play WoT, it's a good amount of fun, it's pretty grindy, but the grind is gameplay, and when you have a good game it is very satisfying

16:21 yeah those have been around since 1943. And that’s not quite what they do. A shaped charge (also referred to as high explosive anti tank or HEAT round) is a round that his something then melts though the armour with super heated liquid.
What your describing is an armour piercing high explosive (APHE) which have also been around since 1939.

On the "shotgun" tank rounds, John Ringo's black tide rising books have a scene where they use ball bearings as the bb while using a tank to try and wipeout a zombie hoard, which then the tank loses traction from the shear amount of viscera and gore
The panzer 2j is a teir 3 tank with the forward armor of a teir 5 on all 4 sides.

if your playing stellaris and are interested in some playstyles then i recommend the youtuber Lathland, he prefers standard stellaris (without mods) but he's done so much stellaris content that he regularly plays with some of the most popular mods for the game, if anything you might learn a bit about efficent playstyles as he always plays on the highest AI difficulty

But why get some expensive armor if its already behind date and also if its going To get outclassed by new projectile tech?
Same point with Tanks, the armor isnt super important anymore its just to give you a possible chance to have a second chance but even that is a bit out of date since the abrams and leopard are both from the 70s and 80s
Its more about, stay out of sight, stay behind cover, and make yourself harder to hit.
