    Using this video, I successfully repaired my QC35ii headphones! Thank you so much! For others who may have the same thing, the symptom for me was that the right ear would go in and out of playing sound. I would tap the right ear and it would come back, or if I'd wiggle my head, chew, or change the air pressure in my headphone, the sound would sometimes toggle on/off. It felt like a loose wire so I was skeptical that replacing the speaker cone was the solution, but was getting worse and worse so there was not much to lose in trying it. I bought the replacement speaker set, and went for it. The soldering is not for a beginner, I ruined one of the replacement speakers, so I called in a family member who was more experienced at soldering and he got the job done. I also had to replace the wire between the mainboard and the speaker but only because I broke it when doing the repair. Also, the heat gun I have is not ideal, so I recommend getting a heat gun with a) Precise temperature control b) precise airflow control and mostly importantly C) a very fine tip to direct the air. I just about melted the plastic because my heat gun is too erratic and not fine-tipped. Anyway, thanks, Joe's, for this video!

    Note to QC35 II owners:
    It seems Bose changed the desgin of the speaker cover a bit, I had to break 2 melted down screwed around the speaker housing + the glue isn't nearly as weak as shown in this video, you will have to heat up the glue quite a bit and use more force to pry it open.
    Good luck

    Thanks for the jolly tutorial, definitely made me more comfortable with the idea of opening up my own pair of headphones. Unfortunately I have a problem where the right ear only plays sound through it, if the earmuff is held at a specific angle, and even so, that angle is getting harder to find. I tried opening up the headphones, as I suspected the wire might have gotten loose, but it seemed perfectly held in place, so now I'm considering if I should go searching through the rest of the headphones, for the faulty wire spot, or if it might be something else entirely. What do you think?

    Hi Joe - thanks for the great info. I had two major problems following your instructions. At 4:26 you heated the board where the wire was and pulled the wire away nicely. Me on the other hand, screwed the pooch and tore the wire from the board. Then, at 4:40, I could not find *anywhere* the two wires you were referring to. Is it possible that you were working on at 35II and I was working on an 35I? The rest I think I could manage myself. Ah who am I kidding......My problem is I cannot afford to send it in for repair. Maybe buy the parts and try again? Thanks again for all your help!!!

    I followed the video to replace the speaker in the right ear on the QC35. When I finished and powered the headphones I heard a loud solid tone that changed (got higher and lower) as I moved the headphones. I double checked the 4 solder points, and the + and - wire locations and they look good. Any idea what the problem is?

      I just hit the same loud-beep problem. You can work around this by disabling noise cancellation. For me putting the heaphones back together funnily enough fixed it. Might be some sort of feedback loop which goes away when the mic listening to outside noises is properly covered with the outside cover...

    • @peterwilson9327
      @peterwilson9327 Рік тому

      Feedback, maybe you reversed the speaker leads and actually enhance noise to the point of oscillation? Or else it's not acoustically ( airtight?) sealed and you're getting feedback that way. Switching off the noise cancellation will reveal which it is. (If the squealing goes away with it (n.c.) turned off)

      I had the same problem recently and fixed it by a replacement speaker (Amazon), thanks to Joe's perfekt YT-Tutorial. To proof the accurate working of the speaker, measure the continuity through the speakers winding with a multimeter the resistance between the plus and minus outputs on the PCB. there should be some value about 3 Ohm. Maybe you'll need to unsolder the terminals. If a very high value could be detected, the speaker is probably gone.
